It's a cruel world, Elisa and many Italian motherlanguage singers can butcher their own language and they'll be nonetheless forgiven,

every English motherlanguage singer (and there are many many) can be barely understood by others and still they'll be covered by awards and appreciation.

If you sing in a foreign language, I don't know why, but it's like being on a constant exam session. Che importa per qualche piccolo errore di pronuncia: Elisa approverebbe pienamente.
