Huntly isn't coal-fired - it's gas- and coal-fired, and over its history has generated more electricity from gas than it has from coal.

And coal isn't the dirtiest fuel - oil is. Oil electricity is 33% more polluting per unit than coal is, and gas is half as polluting as coal.

Ok... I'm all for stopping climate change but how are we supposed to generate energy in a reliable, environmentally friendly way? Wind power is only reliable 35% of the time, hydro destroys a river's eco-system, solar is inefficient and cost's an absolute f-load to build and there are hardly any geo-thermal sites available for development because you would upset the locals. That only really leaves us with tidal power... now that is a hazard to shipping and also cost's an f-load to build.

With proper investemnt there is no reason why coal cannot be 100% clean, The technology is already being developed. Renewables cannot power the world alone. Fosslil fuels are needed and this sort of protest shows a fantastic amount of ingorance about how power is generated and used.
