@Maziyar *continued* Choi Hong Man isn't really that technical of a fighter either. He was a decent K1 kickboxer, because he had power in the hands because of his size. Brett Rogers was a stand-up fighter so it's a good fight for Fedor, Tim Sylvia got caught when he was standing with Fedor, Keven Randleman also fights as a LHW so he's not THAT big. IF he ever fights at HW, you'll see just how much size matters, especially when you're up against a wrestler.
@Maziyar Mark Coleman also fights as a LHW, Andrei is 235 lbs, so is Fedor, Heath Herring is a big guy, but face it, he was never one of the top 10 HW's. Anderson can handle them on stand-up, I'm just saying he's going to get taken down and pounded against any NCAA I or II wrestler..

@rednek316 I don't think Carwin is as stupidly overconfident or arrogant as Brock's former opponents. He trains with determination and very focused overall. Which is why I think this is the FIRST true test for Brock Lesnar.
My breakdown of the fight is that Carwin will definitely stop majority of Brock's takedowns, but one takedown is enough to get him into trouble.
This fight can go either way, I'm rooting for Brock but if Shane Carwin wins I won't be too pissed off about it.

I'm not entirely sure about him stopping a majority of the takedowns though, Brock was a champion in a better division than Shane was, but I don't think Shane is a complete slouch so he might stuff them. Also, Shane had a purple belt in Jits, so that helps his control a little more. Like you said though, can go either way.
@rednek316 I look at it as both men finally being tested. Carwins cardio, takedown defense and chin have never been tested and Brocks chin has never been touched. Im interested how it turns out and if either of them has a weakness.
@ragincaucasian319 Brock's chin did look a little bit decent, I don't know if you remember that knee Frank Mir threw on Brock, but it landed flush in his face, so hopefully that chin holds up.
I think it's going to come down to what both are similar at, their power and wrestling. Brock may just have the advantage in both though.

i am so tired of hearing about brock lesnar. Everyone knows Shane Carwin will beat him. i am so tired of people talking about anderson silva fighting BJ Penn or GSP. Their Skills may be in the same League but not the same CLASS.

Anyway. you have to motivate silva, what he did was becuase there is no compition, dana white say that chael sonnen will give him a run for his money. silva is another class then most fighters because unlike other fighters he mastered being a boxer

If you don't fix these mistakes the ufc will look weak in the eyes of the World.
you made a good impression in Abu Dhabi. not the best impression but they will still watch you. If you want to be the greatest. prove it. The UFC has an opportunity to become so unbelievably great. Please make anderson a HW.

i wish i could explain this in a better way. but i understand this ENTIRE situation.
the in's and the outs. Anderson silva is arguably the best fighter in the UFC right now. Fedor is arguably the best fighter in the world. but in both instances you are making a choice based on profit. and i have no problem with that from your perspective. but from a fans perspective it doesn't seem right. How can you say Fedor needs to prove himself but Anderson has to fight THESE guys??

@Maziyar Also, Chael Sonnen is a damn good fighter, even though he's a grinder. Nate Marquardt was putting away everybody until Chael beat him. You're right though Anderson should move up, HW is just too much though. You have a big Brock Lesnar smothering Anderson, because you know he's getting that takedown. If he doesn't, it's a clinch against the cage then the takedown. Anderson is just too tiny for HW.

When i watch anderson silva fight.
i always am torn between two worlds. On one hand you see his great skills, talents, and abilities. but on the other hand. you see his opponent. Dana white has been making mistakes ever since he went on this global expansion. First he makes Brock Lesnar represent us by expanding his role in the UFC. Then he won't sign Fedor because M1 Global. there is a reason so many fighters are getting injured on the main card. something isn't right.

@Maziyar Thats the reason why they have the pound for pound rankings. It stands for the best fighters in technicality, Even though BJ Penn is a pound for pound fighter, he can't beat a heavyweight. Same with Anderson, now he can beat most of the heavyweights, but when he climbs that ladder high enough, the size disadvantage is just too much. He can't beat the top Heavyweights, even though he's a better fighter.

@Maziyar Dude there's a 60 pound difference between LHW and HW. Forrest also liked to throw hands which is a perfect match-up for Silva, people in HW will go for takedowns and more than likely secure them ( Shane Carwin, Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir etc.) doesn't matter how much skill Anderson has, I'm telling you eventually size makes a difference.

@Maziyar max weight for HW is 265 and Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin walk around at 300. I'm almost certain Mauricio Rua would be a damn tough fight for Silva, Silva and Machida already said they wouldn't fight each other.
There's a reason why they have weightclasses, size matters eventually. You can't tell me that Silva would escape easily when Brock Lesnar has him down, compared to when someone like Chael Sonnen has him down. Skill and size combined beats skill alone.

@Maziyar *continued* Choi Hong Man isn't really that technical of a fighter either. He was a decent K1 kickboxer, because he had power in the hands because of his size. Brett Rogers was a stand-up fighter so it's a good fight for Fedor, Tim Sylvia got caught when he was standing with Fedor, Keven Randleman also fights as a LHW so he's not THAT big. IF he ever fights at HW, you'll see just how much size matters, especially when you're up against a wrestler.

@Maziyar Mark Coleman also fights as a LHW, Andrei is 235 lbs, so is Fedor, Heath Herring is a big guy, but face it, he was never one of the top 10 HW's. Anderson can handle them on stand-up, I'm just saying he's going to get taken down and pounded against any NCAA I or II wrestler..

Last time I saw a video of him, which was like his first week back at training, he looked a little chunky. Hopefully he's back in shape and ready to fight Shane.

@rednek316 I don't think Carwin is as stupidly overconfident or arrogant as Brock's former opponents. He trains with determination and very focused overall. Which is why I think this is the FIRST true test for Brock Lesnar.
My breakdown of the fight is that Carwin will definitely stop majority of Brock's takedowns, but one takedown is enough to get him into trouble.
This fight can go either way, I'm rooting for Brock but if Shane Carwin wins I won't be too pissed off about it.

@SatanistTV That's the first intellectual comment I've heard on this fight so far. Everyone else is either thinking "BROCK SMASH!!!" or "Shane will beat Lesnar...cuz he will."
I'm not entirely sure about him stopping a majority of the takedowns though, Brock was a champion in a better division than Shane was, but I don't think Shane is a complete slouch so he might stuff them. Also, Shane had a purple belt in Jits, so that helps his control a little more. Like you said though, can go either way.

@rednek316 I look at it as both men finally being tested. Carwins cardio, takedown defense and chin have never been tested and Brocks chin has never been touched. Im interested how it turns out and if either of them has a weakness.

@ragincaucasian319 Brock's chin did look a little bit decent, I don't know if you remember that knee Frank Mir threw on Brock, but it landed flush in his face, so hopefully that chin holds up.
I think it's going to come down to what both are similar at, their power and wrestling. Brock may just have the advantage in both though.
I've been anticipating this fight since UFC 106 and I'm glad it's finally going to happen.
