One of the greatest James Brown riffs of all time. He should have put it out by himself instead of singing it with Shrilly Marva Whitney. Honestly, his taste in female singers sometimes astounded me how bad it was. She's bad enough but Vicki Anderson is even worse! I do love Lyn Collins though.
You're wrong. Marva had an incredible voice back in the day - the reason she sounds 'shirilly' is because JB forced her to sing too aggressively. If you listen to some of Marva's solo recordings (especially those unreleased, without JB's influence) her voice is absolutely stunning.
@namakudamono - It doesn't matter if he made her sing like that lol. That is what is on the record and I can't stand it. I've heard her sing more naturally and yes she does have a nice voice, but unfortunately it doesn't come across in most of her songs. Mr. Brown was a musical genius but some of his decisions, like making her and Vicki sing so high and shrilly, really backfired.
@PaulDA2000 Nah Bro this song was a CRAZY duo..I love the way Whitney puts her actual soul in her songs. Lyn Collins is right up there, such a sweet voice and true words` behind her songs....
Is there an instrumental song to this ?

@amck72
I've never heard of one, but if you found one I wouldn't be surprised.
There are various versions of this, however, by a number of James Brown-related artists.
