i want to tell you Russian something thats very important. There is a group of people here who are calling Russia the Anti-Christ. Now you might laugh and shrug that off as non-sense.. it is. But these people are no joke. They have power. Alot of power.

Te project of dismantling of USSR was a project of top high Russian academics and professors in Moscow. The idea of the project was to CONTROL the dismantling of USSR in order to preserve its core (Russia). When Russia recovers after it cleans itself of communism, start the unification process on the post-Soviet space. That is happening.

Both countries need to make an effort. Starting with Russia. I am Russian, from Moscow, but I believe that Russian leadership lectures and fears the West more than the West fears Russia. But, the West (i.e. Western rich countries) is a club, and to be in that club we need to play by its rules. Once we are in, we can try to make changes.

Actually he was hugely respected, and when he decided to leave because he was tired of what CBS had been turned into and wanted to do "meaningful" broadcasting away, or was fired, depending on who you believe, the papers and internet community was up in arms.. it was a huge story of injustice, like Princess Diana dying. If he's not popular, thats unfortunate b/c he is very astute and he's right , if a bit vague, about all he says here. There is a huge one sidedness in Russias favor as far as literacy of the processes between USA and Russia. Dan Rather is respected by people who know what the heel i going on, which is nto most Americans. Russians know far more about us, we know generalisms and anachronisms about them. Look at our election, nobody's mentioning Russia but they are the biggest ones out there.

Dan Rather is a liar. Altering documents in an attempt to smear Bush was completely irresponsible.  Bush does enough to indict himself, Rather didn't need to make anything up.

He didnt alter documants, he reported them before doing proper verification, which is irreasponsible but that has nothing to do with him being right or wrong on Russia or anything else for that matter. And he had a very long career without any other such incidents Im aware of.

Rather has lost all credibility. Whether it was his irresponsibility or he was intricately involved in the alteration of Bush's military documents, he isn't fit to report the news on Bush, Russia or anything else. He resigned in disgrace and rightfully so. He's on "Russia Today" because the US public doesn't believe him anymore. Russians will learn about him eventually.

I agree. We need to pursue more relations with Russia. Russia is trying to re-assert itself in the world as a power. Not to mention they have the largest oil reserves outside of the middle east. Russia has influence in the world where the "Anglosphere" doesn't. Its time for us to get over the past and welcome our Russian counterparts.
