This is the one my sister started singing to the tune of the carol "O Christmas Tree": "O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree. I'm mad at you 'cause you fell on me" hahaha...
what. do Americans get Christmas trees in middle of November? Here in Northern Europe we buy or cut the tree a week before or later and throw it out after new year
Respond to this video... If you're climbing a tree, even if you don't have"proper" safety equipment (harness/ropes), at least tie *something* around your waist to prevent a long fall.
I Think Those guy's should've went to a christmas tree lot, I remember when i was little and living up in canton south dakota, my mother, lil sister and i, would be going to a christmas tree lot to get our christmas tree, and on our way over to the christmas tree lot, we would be singing a christmas carol. when we arrived at the christmas tree lot, we would get our christmas tree, and brought it back to our farmhouse. that's my favorite christmas memory of my childhood.
I used to climb trees like that alot with my friends. I always used to think the worst that would happen if you fell down was maybe a broken arm, leg, ankle. Nothing like this:O
wow that sucks family reunions are Suppose to be fun not people getting hurt. all I know is I'm never going to climb a Christmas tree I will stick to buying mine at the Christmas tree store and also we don't really have tree's in the desert we have cactus and bushes.
Our cat tried to climb the Christmas tree one year. She didn't get far b/c we could a furious rustling in the branches, and he came out to find the branches shaking and needles dropping off the tree (even fake ones have needle that drop.)
He shooed her out but she kept trying to go under there every chance she got. Silly animal. : )
I'm allergic to real Christmas trees. As evidenced by the fact I've been sicker than a damn dog for the past 5 days. My eyes were glued shut for two of those days, and my nose is still clogged up.
My doctor told me it's a bummer to be allergic to Christmas trees. I said at least I don't have to worry about tree fires.
A spinal cord injury that involves breathing difficulty is usually between C2 & C3 which, technically, is a neck injury.
That's a shame. Christmas trees smell really good. However, my family hasn't used a real tree in years because of the fire hazard, and because artificial trees are less messy and easier to put up and take down.
Some fake trees use chemicals that can make them MORE of a fire hazard than well-maintained real trees, more so with older or cheaper models. If a real tree is poorly maintained, it is a huge hazard though.
@vickiormindyb Yes, precision in location makes all the difference. I know a guy in a wheel chair who has some coordination/balance issues. He told me he was injured near C4 which is one step away from being a quad. He's glad to have decent arm functions, but said it's creepy to know that one vertebra higher and he'd be a quad. Random chance can be absolutely terrifying. I hear that from guys who have been in combat all the time. That basically a coin flip determines our fate. FUCK!

@hyperbaricchicken101 There's nothing like a real tree, but I buy them from tree farms, and double up on the smoke detectors.....

I think it's dangerous to climb a tree and then cut it as opposed to finding a 7-foot tree, or at least cutting it from the bottom first.
It grows from the bottom up, why wouldn't you cut it the same way, beginning at the bottom?

At 2:49, the branch snaps. At 3:08, the same branch looks to snap again and he falls.
Was that a mistake.
He should have fell at 2:49.

If John was the one to climb the tree to cut the top down, he would have chose not to because he knew the consequence or possibility of falling.
They should have bought a tree being that climbing that tree was too dangerous: brittle slippery branches.

Doctors, especially surgeons, make us be precise.

Man, that fall was kind of scary. I never climb trees that much as a child, so I don't plan to cut a Christmas Tree from the top.
