i worked as a telemarketer -oh, excuse me, i mean a "customer satisfaction specialist" as we were supposed to call ourselves- for about 3 months. it's easy work (if you can handle dealing with angry jerks several times a day) for good money but i don't enjoy working for Evil Incarnate. that is the down side.

I did quit but seeing as money is necessary for survival in this society....... I'll probably be going back... le sigh.

I only lasted a month, but I never got back my morality. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone in the world.

On the bright side, it's fun to mess with telemarketers now. Knock them off script over and over, get them to talk about crap they care nothing about. See how long you can hang them on the line, talking about the weather or an upcoming holiday or whatever inane silliness one can imagine. It's the art of exposing the underbelly of the poor sap that was me.

Where I come from, they all pay basically minimum wage and most of them don't reward good work, they expect it, but hold the extra bathroom break you took over your head.

Call Centers cause employees to lower their general opinion of others because they get to see how people are when they don't have to be nice, and they see it all the time.

@tillo2008 thats true. i work at a call center. im not a telemarketer but i do work as a customer service representative. the people we deal with are horrible and they cause alot of stress on all of us. we do see the ugly side of people and see how they really are and its not pretty. of course i cant say much because ive been an angry customer before and everytime i deal with one, i always think about how the people i talked to that day when i blew up at them and how i made them feel. :(
