  • searching for childhood memories, I was 5 is that the one with the gigantig Robot scorpion thingies that ripped out human spines? :D

  • @SalaTrash That's the sequel! I don't like it as much, but it's still cool.

  • @ 7:45 Robo Samurai Scorpion

  • still remember the first time i saw it... 7 years now 27

  • Omg its Liquid Snake xD

  • @lPrintulNoptii He could also be a younger version of Souther from Hokuto no Ken!

  • I can now see why you worship this anime. Everything about it is amazing! The animation style reminds me of Dancougar and Layzner. The Engrish is funny too.

  • I wish Norio Wakamoto would have done Geist in the Director's Cut.

  • god damn, the robots in this are awesome

  • @empyreanlc No robots in this section of the OVA yet, but Koichi Ohata's mechanical desgins are pretty much the best.

  • I wish anime was this macho again. Damn you Lucky Star...

  • what is the song that is playing at 5:30 minutes in

  • Merciless Soldier by Hironobu Kageyama.

  • CAN'T STOP! HE'S JUST A SOLDIER!

  • Hello? Is this M.D. Geist? Doctor of Medicine?................. No, MOST DANGEROUS GEIST.

  • That'd be crazy if Geist was a doctor. But then, he'd be one doctor who you wouldn't want to arrange an appointment with!

  • @MDthornton83: He'd be a doctor...of dealing death. Dr. Kevorkian be damned.

  • Excuse me sir, but have you arranged an appointment with Dr. Geist?

Dr. Geist? Oh no! I didn't! There must be some mistake!

No sir. It says right here that your appointment is with Dr. Geist. He's in his office waiting to see you.

    Oh crap!

  • The song beginning at 4:00 is sweet.

  • It just came to mind that Geist looks a lot like Goose from the Galaxy Rangers. because he has the same blond hair and hair style as Goose does! And the crazy thing is that both Galaxy Rangers and MD Geist came out in the same year; 1986! How ironic is that?

  • @MDthornton83 Want it even crazier? There's a fanfic with the two crossing over.

  • Really? Are you serious?

  • @MDthornton83 Yeah, I have a link to it somewhere.

  • Cool! Can you maybe send me the link to it so I can read it?

  • @MDthornton83 Sure, just PM me as a reminder.

  • @VendavalEste Can you send me a link to it?

  • Ive never been a huge fan of mech based anime, but I liked M.D. Geist. I mean sure its cheesy as hell, but something about it separates it from the other mech anime Ive seen. Maybe its because its protagonist cares about only bringing more war to the world rather than saving it.

  • That's a cool thought, I like it.

  • Fuai-to? (fight?)... ^^

  • Yup, katakana.

  • Geist 'n' glory.

  • i cant lie though Geist is bad ass that opening song fits him perfect

  • and if this hasnt been said why does the gnag leader look like stevie wonder

  • Because 80s Americans were influential.

  • lmaooo ok

  • @kocool8096: Yeah, that was the frst thing I noticed when I saw this film. Also, Geist = Billy Idol.

  • i have this version i love the story but way too violent lol

  • lol, why complain about the violence? Stuff like Riki-Oh definitely isn't for you then.

  • and whats riki-oh

  • Quite simply the best manga ever, see the video I uploaded - "Riki-Oh: Wall of Hell - Best opening EVER" for an example.

  • Judging by the way Geist literally sliced off that guy's arms before driving his knife into his head so mercilessly, just imagine what he'd do to Umibozu from City Hunter? Oooh! I have a feeling Geist would fuck him up big time!

  • I especially like the "heart-beat" sound at the beginning just before Geist wakes up unexpectedly! It really induces that horror-movie sort of sensation!

  • I also noticed that this is the original 1986 version. Because the Director's Cut version features all the additional scenes that were added to the episode along with more modernized sound effects. Needless to say it included an entirely different Japanese voice cast though the dialogue is the same.

The 1986 version has none of those, and the sound effects are the traditional old-school sound effects you'd hear from just about any other anime. But they're still spectacular though.

  • I really like both, but I think the Director's Cut has a lot more kick to its sound effects, and I really like the new Japanese audio track for it.

  • its great to hear both. old and new.

this anime is simply classic :D.

  • Damn right, I can't tell which version I love more, this one in all its 80sness or the Director's Cut in Japanese.

  • What are the main differences between the original anime and the director cut?

Most people say that in the original movie they were a few mistakes. What kind of mistakes?

    I've never recognized them.

  • You've never noticed how jumpy the animation is in this cut? Just look at Krutz's corpse near the end on the final video. In the Director's Cut, they used different cues for music, included a new prologue that also elaborated on a bit more, added in some new (very brief) bits of animation and extended the ending, as well as including a little flashback showing Geist killing things. It also has much more realistic (and in my opinion, BETTER) sound effects.

  • @OlderRockRocks

This version has the great Norio Wakamoto playing Geist and none of the other cuts or sequels do.

  • 0:32: I assume by "Christian Era", anno domini is no more.

3:37: Geist is so tough that a bullet to the forehead is futile against killing him. I assume he is Koichi Ohata's answer to Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's Kenshiro (of Hokuto No Ken/Fist of the North Star fame). I'd pay good money to see them fight in a no-hards-barred, crossover battle.

7:55-8:08: Apparently, being blind hasn't affected Stevie Wonder's atheltic abilities one bit.

  • I actually wonder if that bullet thing was some undeveloped plot point about the MDSes having excellent regenerative abilities that allow them to hold out against things that'd normally kill a man. I really think there needs to be a game of some sort that is just a crossover of anime's manliest men; Kenshiro, Riki-Oh (and the rest of Tetsuya Saruwatari's creations), Golgo 13, Guts, Jojo and even Geist, but I imagine he'd have to be in his biker clothes with aviator glasses.

  • It is hinted at in the series that MDSs can withstand more pain and punishment then the average human being and/or might have superhuman healing abilities like Wolverine (i.e., Geist with a bullet point-blank in his head unaffected by it, Geist being electrocuted by the Final Striker and surviving, Geist being partially on fire but unaffected by it, and my favorite one: Geist surviving a fall countless stories high and walking away with only some upper body damage, and quickly healing from it).

  • (Continued)

While I'm not too familar with Riki-Oh, Berserk, and the Jojo series, I'd still like to see that crossover battle. Golgo 13 would probably be sexing up Vaiya somewhere while the other manly men fought each other to the death, though.

  • I guess that pretty much means that Geist is immortal. No matter what you do to him, he just won't die. And even if anyone DID manage to kill him, he'd probably just come back like Jason Voorhees does in each and every one of his movies. He truly isn't human. But a man-made devil.

  • Do you think this anime is almost as graphic as Gantz, Elfen Lied, Urotsukidoji or even Fist of the North Star?

  • Get Elfen Lied out your list and no it isn't as gory as them. Still awesome though.
