Rachmaninoff Etude-Tableau Op.39, #3 in F# minor performed by Stephen Cook

This is a very good performance. A lot of beautiful layering between the soprano and inner voices, and very thoughful phrasing. Great colorative effects during contrasting sections, and though the tempo fluctuates quite a bit, I think Cook makes his rubato work for him. I never felt like it was overdone or schmaltzy. Hmm. Bravo. :)

Excellent performance! Most pianists play this too fast, as if it was only an exercise. You play it fast enough, but expressively and beautifully, which makes all the difference. Keep playing and posting!

As my son would say, "Perfectemundo, bro!" Absolutely magnificent. it was as if technical problems were of no consequence and this allowed you to concentrate on the "spirit" of the piece. This is quintessential Rachmoninoff adn the greated compliment is that the sound is "Russian".

Very powerful playing!This is one of my favourites studios of Rachmaninov.Full of emotions,dramatic even!

You have plenty of coloring and you bring out the motifs in the phrases.
