Shame they weren't Hip for a lot longer. This whole album had a sad tone to it. With tracks like Hip Today, Cynical, No Respect & Leave me alone it was as if they were writing about their own dimise. Not sure if other people feel this. I saw them on this tour and they were amazing but Nuno was having technical problems and seemed a bit distant. Such a shame they didn't get the credit they deserved.

For the longest time I was turned off from this band by More than Words cause I thought that they were only going to be doing soft shit without even giving the band a chance at all. Then I listened to their first album and had my mind explode. And their second album is nothing but pure shred, Nuno's guitar playing lives up to the bands name, they really are a heavy band.

I am a huge Nuno fan, not an Extreme fan but I rather admire the work Nuno did with Extreme. I didn't notice before he is not using his regular guitar in this video (N4), this one is more similar to the actual N6 with the HSS configuration instead of the double Humbucker. Darkdread 12. - Hip Today is a reference to the cultural and stylistic now. What's seen as popular or fashionable at the moment. So really what the song is about is a kind of tongue and cheek take on folk who preoccupy themselves with the 'latest' thing. You'll hear the lines before the chorus "You'll be gone tomorrow" Which just means, here today gone tomorrow. All image no substance.

When Waiting for the Punchline was released as Extreme fan I felt myself a little disappointed. After so many year I consider this as another masterpiece but of another band. The band plenty of joy spreading happiness in each song of other Albums was died for a more innermost and sofisticated one, with a sound and lyrics a bit darker.

Ace song. Not my favey album of theirs songwise, but the sound and the performances feckin rock! Garys voice sounds PHAT on that track. They do still paly together now and again. I think they'll do another album sometime in the future. I really hope so anyway. Nuno's other band is cool n that but I think Extreme need to do another album. Even if it's jsut for closure for the fans.

I saw this video as it was being made on December 15, 2004 (at least the performance scenes, basically 90% of the video), but I never got to see the video itself till now! Very cool the way it looks, especially when coupled with my memory of it. The diorama-like box was really shiny metallic inside, interesting camera effect they got from it. Lucky me that the 3rd gay date I ever had stood me up (we were supposed to meet in a restaurant nearby), otherwise I never would have been there!
