I have a blank gun where the barrel is filled with a metal ball-bearing, so nothing can come out. Perhaps, though, this is less common than an unfilled barrel?
possibly. I would imagine that for prop replicas that would be more common than in fast draw guns. Fast draw competition actually relies on wax bullets or flying powder to pop the balloons, so they are counting on something coming out.

nice. i timed myself the other day with a Colt SAA .45 with a 7 1/2" barrel. To draw and fire at full length it took me .18 seconds
