  • What an amazing video. I'm glad my world music instructor shared this. This is truly awesome. I can feel the 'uhane over here.

  • very beautiful video

  • If I was a chick my panties would be soaking wet.

  • These guys must have worked really hard to make it this far. These Hawaiian arts know how to instill discipline in their dancers

  • Wow! Fantastic, this is really beautiful. I became emotional just watching it!

  • i just g0t h0rny 0ff dis mmmmmmmm dat guys R yummy i want 1 n0w :P

  • Eo e na koa Hawai`i o Carsons. Mahalo nui e `anake Sissy. I've always enjoyed your hula kane kahiko, I know the judges no show as much aloha, but I hope this doesn't discourage you folks from coming home and sharing with us. I know one thing tho, you guys would difenitly win the peoples choice award if they would make such a category. I go keep telling them they should make such an award. Just like American idol, charge um $.99 for a call and they get one vote for their favorite halau. Aloha.

  • Aloha from Ma`ili, O`ahu. I've always like Aunty Sissy's Kane Kahiko. Sorry the judges no show more aloha for your halau. I hope this no discourage you guys from sharing your awesome hula with us. I can say, this Hula Halau would definetly win a peoples choice award. Keep up the mana`o and e onipa`a `oukou. Aloha nui e `anake Sissy a me na koa o Carsons. Aloha nui ia `oukou.

  • @MrPineapplexL really?

  • great job! that was awesome to watch

  • (Not to be rude) Can anyone educate me on why the men wear that garmant or lack there of? I'm sure there has to be a reason. Love the vid!

  • @Justwatchedyou - Kahiko is the first hula and was only performed by men. It wasn't till the western influence that 'auana was introduced with Wahine dancers. Being that Kahiko is ancient, the Kane wear a "Malo". This is what was originally worn. Sort of like a reverence for our roots.

  • @misshawaiiansunshine Hula? How about a magical Hula Hoop?

  • Wow, the kid who did the opening chant was great, especially coming from the mainland.

Great foot work too, I hope they placed!

  • Best video .

  • those men are huge o.O!

  • @SemperFidelisEleven more to love ; )

  • thats good rap!!!!! jaz sign them they good rapper's

  • I the theory were true .I guess the polynesians and the malays had been cut out for thousands of years. The language and the cultures had change between both. Can we say that the polynesians cultures were the originals tha the malays had practiced 3000 year ago??

  • @ali4330 youre getting confused with this theory. Polynesian culture has long evolved from its south east Asian (Austronesian) roots. Look up the term 'Austronesia for more on the origin of Polynesia. Its a long story.

  • @janson84 Yeah.I believes so.Our culture had developed separately. However your culture is more pure than us malays.Malays cultures had strong influances from India,China as well arabs.Polynisian culture developed without outside influences.I did found a similar word that proven we were from similar family. Nyior (malay)=niau(polynesian)=coconut

  • I am a malay from Malaysia.I tried to find similaritu between the malay and the polynesian culture.I dont find any.

  • Respond to this video...

  • An authentic Hawai'i culture right here.

  • aaw I love this video, you're dance excellent .. yeah!! .. is a excellent halau =D

  • where can u get the lyrics to this hula

  • very enjoyable.

    Thank You

  • Hokule'a.. e'o!

  • Perfect!!!!

  • does anyone know this song? i really like the beat. can anyone tell me? thank you.

  • time stamp :28 tells you the Mele or song.

  • but most likely the Halau has their own unique sound and dance that will be difficult to get "a copy" of. =)

  • This routine has these guys well diciplind.

  • What I love about this is that there is a wide range of body types among the dancers. They look like real people, not Ken dolls. Each one is different, but each is masculin, powerful and beautiful.

  • That's what I like most about hula and bellydance you don't have to be of a certain body type to dance these forms.

  • These young men can really dance. I wish I knew what they were saying but its all good

  • mahalo nui to da merrie monarch for repesenting us hawaiians in a less fem

mahu fashion! finally...about time. anyone else feel da same way o wat?

  • Male Power - enculturated and focuses - deeply moving.

  • does any1 kno of a hawaiin story telling the finding of new zealand?? and if so could they tell me of the hawaiin version of the story not the maori version

  • tumeke tumeke probaly what kupe was doing when he found new zealand and killed tha octupus

  • Very intense, such precision, this is the best performance i have seen so far, will be back to see the next coming event. 5 stars, may the spirits of aloha continue running through our blood and educate our viewers of the Hawaiian culture.

  • Captivating and fierce! A wonderful cultural treat to watch and enjoy!

  • They keep their "bits" hidden because its actually like a diaper with drapes. Everything is wrapped up then the 2 peices in front and back. And btw...it's called a MALO. :)

  • this is mad,im samoan and havent seen much hawaiian culture

    this shits intriguing

  • i have no clue what they were saying, but that was freakin' awesome!

at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, how do they dance and manage to keep their sexy bits hidden? :P

  • The malo is tied so that it is like a jock-strap. Actually very secure if done properly. The flaps/drapes are decorative. When working, the flaps are twisted up and out of the way, and then hang down for social occasions. Many different styles, some very elaborate! :-)

  • no idea...why i am crying like a baby watching it..it mooves me so much ! so much energy in it !!

  • I miss watching this every year, but i had to move. :(

  • thanks for the upload, I am like the only Tahitian in PA. people in my area have no clue about my culture. I wish they would show this stuff on tv.

  • Hey, listen I know what you mean. I have lived in this state the majority of my life and you have to go out of your way to find something even remotely associated to your culture. I listen to hawai'an music in my car, Keleali Reichel, and I get made fun of because I do not conform to the domestic local bands or radio stations. I totally understand. I wished there was a station that would play reggae for that matter, but there isn't one. I want out of here! :)

  • I know the feeling of being the non white person in a group of people.

Have you felt that you have been discriminated over there ?

  • I'd like to see you get up there and dance. I would watch what you say...that's very offensive especially to our culture....

  • that was entertaining! i dont know what the hell they were doing, or what they were saying but, i enjoyed that! lol.

  • Incredible. The strength, precision and passion is inspiring.

  • Awesome!!!! Totally powerful and it leaves you with a feeling of respect for these men.

    Thanks for posting..that was 10/10

  • Yes, and rich heritage of their culture. Such passion and intent in their performance. Makes me wish I was of Hawai'ian descent.

  • I feel the same way...maybe I'll go there one day!!

  • Awesome! I love the passion these guys have!!

  • *speechless*

    *_* Wooooow!

Believe me, most of work is for the singer!!! ^^

  • STRONG!!!

  • nice foot work

  • I love this kahiko. It's awsome. So powerful and clear about the meaning of it.

    Plus, they're so hot!

  • That was really male.

Western Ballet could adopt a slice of it.

  • what are you trying to say?

  • I said what I said and it is not really misunderstandable.

See - western Ballet since Louis XIV addet majesty and grace to male dance.

So a lot of manliness got somehow lost.

It is not, but it looks androgyn.

In Kahiko a Woman is a wahine and a man is kane. And as it shows, there can be no doubt 'bout that.

  • this is awesome..! A good work of art cultural dances. thanks.

  • In lebanon we have a dance that reminds me of this, a lot of stomping and VERY physical. These guys seem really disciplined, it's awesome!

  • whats it called?

  • this dance was fire

  • good to see the young people participating and taking an interest in their culture and customs

  • Skrzysia- Unlike the dancing you see today which is only imaginative in its choreography, this style of dance adds so much more. I am not fluent in the Hawaii'an language but I can clearly tell that they're telling a story, not only in their dance but in their words. These men add the vigorous virility that was used long ago into their dance, while showing a great respect for their elders and they're helping to continue chain of respect into the future. Opinion-White boy, mainland.

  • Hot damn.......mmmmmm.

  • damnnn they are so hott

  • Impressive !

  • These PUA know whats they're doing. Look how they give no attention to the womans. Perfect technique.

  • im so impressed with Robert and the rest of the older guys in here! over 20 years later love, you still got it!

  • amazing dance...

  • what is tha name of this dance? we have plenty of guys dancing but don't have hardly any Hawaiian dances for them. This dance is awesome!!! danced a lot and have seen a lot of videos...very good!

  • 3:52 lol close up on uncle peetee

  • WOWZ3R!!! LOL... LOV3 IT!

  • I am just amazed at this halau's kahiko hula! Each one I've seen is just awesome! If we only had this many kane in our halau... oh, the formations we could do...

  • maaaaan, i love these dances

  • This sh** is HOT!!!!!!

  • its awesome, very powerful.

  • WOOOO!

  • webkinz you stupid ass! polynesians are the best, they're not only physically beautiful, they're beautiful of soul!

  • Webkinz your an idiot. First the word is spelled ugliest, as in your attitude. Next the Polynesian people are among the most beautiful on this planet.

  • webkinz1028 u just jeleous cause u cant dance like that and ur half as more ugly so ur jeleous and start to make comment on how people look! go get a make over cause these pepz look half as handsome than ur ass like face

  • webkinz1028 u just jeleous cause u cant dance like that and ur half as more ugly so ur jeleous and start to make comment on how people look! go get a make over cause these pepz look half as handsome than ur ass like face

  • To "webkinz1028". How dare you say such things. It is because of people like you that indigenious people were colonized and enslaved and their culture destroyed.

  • really nice. powerful performance.

  • This is such a wonderful dance. I've just moved to Hawaii 4 months. I don't know a lot about Hula's history. However, this Hula dance makes me realize how wonderful the Hula is.

  • When I was in Hawaii in '06, I watched this every night on tv. I couldn't get over how all the movements either flowed together well, or were precise and all together, like these men. I love how they are reserving their heritage simply by dancing. And apparently even others who can't appreciate the culture seem to enjoy the dances, since I think EVERYONE knows what a hula dance is. I'll bet some just think its the dancing girl on the dashboard, though! XD

  • Thrilling! Would love to see this live, the power and strength of the men.

Their little purple skirts were cute, too.

    :D

  • a beautiful display of preserving the hawaiin culture..

  • Wow, this was an amazing dance.

    Anyone know what it signifies?

    Really hot performances.

  • it how us as hwaiians pray to all gods, wheather its to the god of fire, water, earth or life

  • 3:50 or 4:02, anyone, I WANT TO MARRY THEM.....

  • Es muy mi gusto, si yo quiero casarme con ellos, o a mi me gustan, es cosa que no debe importarte, nunca dije, cualquiera se casaria con ellos, si no te gustan, buscate otros.

  • how dare you say that the dance of hula has nothing to so with how people look. It is about the history of hula and the hawaiian culture... and you would know that if you were not so superficial!

  • You have no respect for culture! you should be ashamed of yourself

  • Whoa .. Impressive .like the guys ^^

  • How are they judged, and I heard it is by invite only, who decides who gets in?

And what did they place, these guys?

  • lol i never thought of that lol

  • I'm completely entranced by these men... fantastic!

  • Naked men in loin clothes??? Fleshy hips? Now that's a show!!! The hula was great also. I was blown away!

  • so cool! reminds me of the movie the whale rider!!!

  • theres nuthin sexy about this dance besides the guys......

it`s telling a story if you haoles don`t know.....

  • do you know what kind of story it is telling? just curious.....and yes, the guys are verrrryy sexxxxxy! lol.....oh and what does haoles mean?? sheesh i feel smart :P

  • OMG! The guy at 4:15 is such a sexy, sexy man!!!!!

  • wow!!! that was wicked!!!!! gave me goosebumps!

  • Kia ora,

I can just imagine this going up against the haka, I think us Maori would get through half of it then just stand and watch!! This is awesome!! Looks difficult though.

  • This is SO ridiculously awesome! The sound of it gives you strength! If it ever gets taken down I'll be so sad.

  • there's something so primal and sexy about this dance..I love it.

  • they started gettin it at 2:33

  • i remember my mother said that auntie"Tootsie" when chew out the announcer at another function for saying off camera that Sissy's group wasn't truly Hawaiian, because they were from Carson-you all know, that living on the mainland or elsewhere, you REALLY have to prove your heritage-cause they don't take you seriously back home..keep up the good work and Aloha brothers and sisters-we never forget!!

  • spine tingling

  • i like the hawaiian tradition and heritage passed down in hula. i like it

  • soooo beautiful! it's amazing...i love this. makes me shiver ^^

  • so beautiful this kahiko.. aloha

  • so soooo cool

  • sure 1 day im leran this dance into malaysia

  • theee guy @ 120 is hot. lmfao ;x

  • umm, i neevr seen this before. hm.

  • i always wanted to go to the merrie monorch fest...and anybody who makes it is awsome

kahiko hula all the way and nothing is better

  • I have to agree this video and DANCE Performance is GREAT.. they did a great job... the Proud Hawaiian Culture and dance when done like this is AWESOME!

  • is one of the best dances and best performing, maybe they don have a nice body but dance pretty good

  • this is great ...=]

  • What did these brothers place? Man, gets my blood pumping every time I watch this!

  • who cares what color their skin is, this is fucking amazing.

  • Beautiful!!

  • Perfect

  • i cant see them well but yeah

  • Whether someone "looks" Hawaiian-Our true nature surpasses the 5 physical senses.I look white (but tan).Spirit taught me the Chants of Mu(Hawaiian),Hula (w/a Kumu),songs, Legends& Deep Profound Wisdom without studying w/a Kahuna!I met a Kahuna recently & I found that I have Mana (Creative Power)in my DNA- (Spirit showed Kahuna this- when I was told by Spirit first that I am Kahuna).Everyone can access diff. knowledge in their DNA. Life is mysterious & Nothing is what it seems! VibrateLovedotcom

  • shut up xbreakingthecyclex! ur probbably white!

  • chhhhheeeeee pono

  • People will make it as if we owe non-'oiwis our thanks for the perpetuation of the hula. They are assuming that w/o them, our traditions will cease! But the fact is, hula still exists today and not due to non-'oiwi people but b/c we never stopped passing on our own tradition. That's what it's about. Call me bias b/c I come from the origin of the hula, but the whole "competitive" thing regarding hula has made it an easy access for over-commercialization.

  • I agree with you...Hence, me making my own personal decision to dance for the spirit and love of same... rather than for a namesake or competition.

  • I am agreeing with mamoahina...

  • A question: why cant I hardly spot any kanaka maoli people in any of the Hula/wahine Kahiko videos??? Ive noticed its mostly performed by 2nd 3rd 4th generation filipinos or is there some sort of political hardship that have excluded the kanaka maoli from embacing their culture? It would be nice to see more polynesians performing. It just looks a bit odd without any brown faces up there.

  • we are very thankful that we have kanaka maoli that have been transplanted to the Mainland that continue to perpetuate our culture through hula. but are also thankful for those that aren't of Hawaiian descent that want to learn and help us preserve our culture. mahalo nui to all of you for continuing the hula!

  • Thanks for the reply j2ako...but still don't know why there aren't many kanaka maoli participating in these cultural festivals. I'm not against non kanaka maoli performing the hula because they have done a great job in embracing and preserving the culture but just curious in why there arent hardly any kanaka maoli around in all the videos that have been posted on u tube.

  • How come it doesn't play anymore?

  • They're only 2 part Hawaiians in that group. The rest are filipino.

  • thats not true

  • Now that always gets me pumped up.

  • nice choreography.. anyone knoe wat they r singing or talking abt?
