Nope. Im pretty sure she was tied for 6th coming into the beam rotation. The fall gave her a 9.375 or something like that, which dropped her way down. She may have also had a bobble on floor as well afterwards

The undisputed champion was Daniela Silivas. Yelena Shushunova, Gabi Potorac and Sveta Boginskaya should have rounded out the podium.
My opinion is based on the substance, technique, body line, dynamism and originality of the routines.
IN ACTUALITY ALL THE FINALISTS WERE FORTUNATE THAT AURELIA DOBRE SUSTAINED AN INJURY THAT HAMPERED HER PERFORMANCES BECAUSE SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT (especially on BB).
Not true. With a double twist dismount, Dobre had no chance of medalling on beam. I agree had she done the 87 routine she would have made the finals, but Potorac was too strong, and Silivas as well. Dobre grew and passed her prime. Even when her knee was better the next year, she was the lowest scoring member on the team I think at 89 worlds. For you to say Bogi belonged on the podium was nuts, she had too many breaks and Phoebe was much better
I agree on Dobre but it is pretty sad when a gymnasts peaks at 14 and is a has been already at 15. I wonder how many people even remember at only 14 she beat Silivas and Shushonova to win the World AA title. A year later Silivas and Shushunova are back in their own universe when it comes to the AA anyway, while Dobre is languishing in second tier has been territory.
The undisputed and unquestionable gold medalist was Daniela Silivas. Yelena Shushunova, Gabi Potorac and Sveta Boginskaya should have completed the medalist's podium.
My opinion is based on the substance, technique, body line, dynamism and originality of the routines.

A questionably high 9.962 for a routine that had less fluidity and lacked the difficulty of Gabriela Potorac who scored a 9.95 to ensure a tie for the bronxe medal (compare mounts and Potorac had 2 tumbling series as opposed to 1). Potorac erred on her dismount as did Mills but she only hopped to adjust as she landed, Mills hopped and piked/tucked her double "tuck". I don't think either deserved such high scores but the bronze should have been in the sole possession of Potorac.
Please stop reposting your previous posts. It isnt our fault youve run out of stupid things to say and must repeat yourself. Phoebe Mills earned the bronze medal from a judging panel that stole the team bronze from the US. If anything, she deserved Silver over Shushounova. Potorac deserved bronze.
The claim that Phoebe Mills had the best BB routine in the finals is ABSURD. It was not as inventive, difficult or poignant as Daniela Silivas. It did not incorporate the astonishing difficulty that Yelena Shushunova did (full-twisting straddle down). It did not have the refined form or elegance of Svetlana Boguinskaya. It only had one tumbling series and her dismount was the piked/tucked double back reflective of bad form and poor rotation.
Boginskaya may have wonderful elegance, but she had many errors in that routine. She also was the most overscored gymnast in Seoul, the fact that she got a medal in floor finals and the all around is criminal...TWO DOUBLE TWISTS~~~~
I felt the AA bronze probably should have gone to either Potorac, Laschenova, or Dudeva. Dudeva's vault sucked so she wasnt competitive. Dobre sucked on floor and vault so she was out of it. Mills fell on beam, which took her out of the running. On floor, I would have given silver to Dudeva and bronze to the other Bulgarian, I cant remember her name right now.
I agree with those. What about the AA gold decision between Shushunova and Silivas. Do you think the judges got that right or did they blow that one. Also what about the team bronze decision.
Its hard to say between Silivas and Shoushounova, both made mistakes, but Silivas was the more complete gymnast, I wonder if she was underscored on the vault though. In terms of the bronze, the US was completely robbed, we all know that.
If I remember right the U.S lost bronze due to points being deducted from a routine for a coach coming out to get a mat off. It was a cheap and petty decision. I also read later it was due to a old grudge of an official to Karolyi.
As for the AA no way do I think Silivas was underscored on vault. 9.950 is great for her on vault anyway. I think beam scoring may have been wrong though, both made unusual mistakes, Shushunova is a bit weaker on beam to begin with, yet got the higher score.
I thought Silivas and Shushunova in 88 could have gone either way. On bars Silivas's routine was better and Shushunova also took a step. Silivas scored 10 and Shushunova 9.9. Beam Silivas made small mistakes which cost her bigtime, and only got a 9.9 while Shushunova got a 9.925. On floor both got a perfect 10. On vault, the worst event for Silivas, Silivas did one of her best vaults but Shushunova the vaulter followed with a better vault and Silivas got a 9.95 while Shushunova got a 10.
So basically Silivas lost the gold with her uncharacterically off beam performance. She needed to be at her best on both bars and beam since Shushunova can match her on floor and is better on vault. Her off beam performance is what cost her the title and arguably rightly so, although I felt for her since she is one of my favorites and I like her alot more then Shushunova.
Very true, the beam needed to be 10 for her to win the gold, she actually got a lot higher than she deserved on that routine, so I guess we could say that overall she did deserve silver based on her beam and vault, she tends to be a little unpredictable on beam, she broke a lot in 87 on it
A questionably high 9.962 for a routine that had less fluidity and lacked the difficulty of Gabriela Potorac who scored a 9.95 to ensure a tie for the bronxe medal (compare mounts and Potorac had 2 tumbling series as opposed to 1). I don't think either deserved such high scores but the bronze should have been in the sole possession of Potorac.
Phoebe deserved the bronze. However Silivas did not deserve the gold for beam, Shushonova did. You know why Silivas won? It is because the Romanians were bitter that Shushonova won the all around over poor Silivas, and the judges felt sorry for Silivas too, so they gave her all the event final golds to make it up to here.
Who in their right mind would contend that this was the best BB routine at the Olympics?
I suppose someone who has no appreciation of cultural diversity and truly captivating...resounding gymnastics! That person also has the nerve to undermine a popular champion like Yelena Shushunova...reducing her to an athletic gymnast and comparing her to a boy. Whatever this person has to say is IRRELEVANT!
In complete agreement with you Hugo Boss Super Model! This routine is solid but to try to magnify the minor errors or sways of gymnasts such as Daniela Silivas, Svetlana Boginskaya and Yelena Shushunova is an inability to put things in perspective.

I disagree. Shushunova deserved the gold instead of Silivas. Dont forget that Silivas beat Shushonova for gold in all the event finals except vault were Silivas won a joke bronze for her crummy vault, and Shushunova would have won easy but fell. Do you think it is coincidence Silivas beats Shushonova for all 3 golds in finals. It is because Romania were bitter she lost the AA to Shushunova so made deals to get revenge unfairly on Russia.
Sorry ruskie, you are incorrect. Silivas was much better on beam and bars than Shushounova. Shushonova should have easily won the vault and went for a double twist when she was too thick to compete that vault, she should have done an easier one. I do agree tho, that Silivas' vaults were shit, she deserved no medal in the event final
You are right on vault finals. I was bummed out with Shushunova for doing that rather then easily winning vault final. Ok you dont like Shushunova's beam but I dont see how you think her bars arent great. She does a full twisting Tchakev, a geigner, and a full twisting double back dismount. That is great difficulty for the time.
she had some great tricks, but the full twisting tchakev was very low, but you are right she had superior difficulty, but i dont think she had the same lines as silivas, silivas was smooth and light, shushonova was heavy on her landings and in her swing, i think the bronze was fair for her there.
Nobody else was doing the full twisting tchakeh then and it is the move that made Khorina and Tweddle successful on bars. Shushunova was ahead of her time.
Silivas' dismount from bars was too easy. By the EC in 1989, Silivas' bars were not difficult enough anymore, she was lucky in at the Worlds... .
Shushunova had a full twisting double back which is still difficult and the only time her landings of the bars were not nailed was during the AA.
I think her difficulty is amazing, but I think her swing isnt smooth. I thought she wasnt in the same class as the other medalists on the bars, but given her difficulty and good form on the geinger, I can see she deserved the bronze, but I felt the score was a little high for her.
Shushunova won the silver on beam here and at the WC in 1987..She may not have the cutsy moves of Silivas but she was dynamic, original and her mount of to the beam and her full-twisting Korbut are still have a high mark for difficulty.
Shushunova was No1 in the world throughout that Quadrennium because she was gifted with great innovation and rearly made errors on the beam..even though it was her worst piece. It really annoys me when she is derided for her body type, she was a 19 year old, she didn't have the body type for "grace" but she has everything else and the highest level of difficulty.
A questionably high 9.962 for a routine that had less fluidity and lacked the difficulty of Gabriela Potorac who scored a 9.95 to ensure a tie for the bronxe medal (compare mounts and Potorac had 2 tumbling series as opposed to 1). Nope. Bulgaria had errors which cost them. The US earned the bronze medal based on points, get over yourself. FOr once in life, and probably the only time, I will agree with you. Stoyanova deserved vault silver and Dudeva deserved floor bronze; Vodinthecerova deserved silver. Mills fully earnd the bronze medal, she had the best routine of the finals
The claim that Phoebe Mills had the best BB routine in the finals is ABSURD. It was not as inventive, difficult or poignant as Daniela Silivas. It only had one tumbling series and her dismount was the piked/tucked double back reflective of bad form and poor rotation.
Her layout sequence was the best of the event finals, even Connor himself said that. She had great form and wonderful originality with her headpring mount and shoulder stands. Shoushounva was a trikter with no grace or presence, she looked like a guy on beam. Silivas bobbled or nearly bobbled on a full turn every time she tried one. Mills had great eye contact off the beam, Silivas was also good, but the only one in the same class as Mills.
Absolutely! Contrary to the erroneous and skewed claim that the USA deserved a team medal, BULGARIA was the team impacted by the questionable judging and the ACTUAL BRONZE MEDALISTS! Even the American publication International Gymnast and American tv commentator and former olympian Bart Conner maintain that BULGARIA deserved the bronze medal.
