I started watching NCIS about a year ago and absolutely love it. As a result of my near obsession, I watched most of the episodes online, however, I only recently saw the season finale for season 5. It's a really great episode I've decided. And yeah, I'd go for a Tony/McGee spinoff rather than NCIS: LA. The new show's alright, but it's def. not as awesome as the original NCIS.

Season 6 will start with Mossad agent Ziva undercover as a nightclub jazz singer. Ziva's father (played by Michael Nouri) will also be in the opener. Still hearing strong rumors that Tony and Ziva will get into a relationship, kept hidden from the rest of the team. McGee will be the first to rejoin Gibbs, after one of the replacements gets killed off - either Keating or Langer.

There may be a new cast of familiar faces portraying Gibbs' "new" NCIS team. Episodes with the "new" team can be meshed with episodes of Tony, Ziva and McGee in their new roles. The characters of Tony, Ziva and McGee can be built up with their portrayals in sole roles and with self-reflective challenges. Then, the "new" team gets killed off and Tony, Ziva and McGee reunite. Upon seeing each other again, Tony and Ziva will rev up the heat. This may possibly be next season's direction.

Tony and Ziva did indeed have some sparks (sharing a bottle of scotch), but Vance decided to reassign all of them at the end. They were all told to report immediately, so this one will be hard to back out of. Ziva going back to Israel, Tony out to sea on an aircraft carrier, and McGee to another department. If they do return next season, it may be gradually, as Gibbs makes the case to get them back. Or, the entire reasignment may be overruled by a higher ranking authority. We shall see...
