Her playing is great! We have this problem often at a local jam I go to because musicians can't or don't want to play back up for old time or bluegrass songs. They just sit there and stare.. not what you want for back up.
Clearly, the guys on guitar were not paying attention. When it's a fiddler's tune, the fiddler sets the pace and increases the pace as the tune progresses.
I think she's just haveing a bad day. Something spooked her, and, as someone said, dhe leaved the band behind like she wanted to get home. You have to try it to know the feeling. Failure !
Her wrist looks a bit stiff to me, and she mustn't hurry - doctors orders !
OMG ! I'm a doctor ! - well I can see stiff wrists even if I don't have a cure - apart from rest and gentle exercise. Any way this time I've changed by interpretation to say that maybe the rest of the band should have taken her up on it and got into what she was doing - stiff wrist or not ! thanks for that - 10/10
I think you are just agreeing with the earlier comments. Remember that this is not a band that is playing. It is just a group getting together for a jam session and her performance was not at all rehearsed.
I understand the concept, but, I'm saying that they weren't in time. Meaning, she was in control of keeping them in time as the better musician, but she just leaves them. I understand it's all in good fun, not trying to be rude.
No worries, just stating what I saw.
She's a great player and the others did very well playing what they were.
You idiots who are slamming Bonnie don't realize that it is not a band she is playing with, and not all the players could keep up with her because they didn't know the song. This is a jam session and she took us all by surprise with her playing which she sped up by design. You can see Jerry to her right and he couldn't keep up with her.
She's not leaving the band behind, she's not keeping time with them. Sounds like she's only played by herself, and not with a band. The other thing, were all three songs even in the same key. I have no doubt she's a good fiddler, just doesn't seem to have timing.
not bad but can she play fast?? ak ak ak

Right on! She was fine, 'knew what she was at and surrounded by a rhythm section that didn't.

True! She has played in a symphony orchestra. The rest of the people at the jam session were completely unprepared for her performance.

Wow, she is really good. She should perform. She can focus really well and I think she could easily handle a live performance.

But it IS a live performance - and she "handled it", but the others were a bit slow to get into the mad ending.

Sounds like hell because she's not in time, but good playing for sure.

It's the backup that's not keeping up!
eileenmclain 2 years ago
Exactly. Tunes aren't supposed to speed up and slow down all over the place.
