  • The haters know nothing.

  • mine just screams for the fun of it X.x

  • Is this bird screaming because of the travel case or because of cage territory problems? I work in a veterinarian clinic and I see animals in a panicked state . Once at the vet it'd be wrapped in a towel, pinned down, beak & talons grinded, wings clipped and examined.-cruel and unusual treatment too! Thank you for taking time to care for your parrot appropriately, people really should read before speaking their mind

  • @RadBooLee A voice of reason..finally! He, from the time we've had him, has been terrified of his travel cage..and this production goes on every time we take him to the vet...once there, they follow the exact steps you listed and he responds very well...as well as a clean bill of health -- no feather plucking or bloodshot eyes..which is a clear indication that the parrot is stressed -- he has no cage territory issues and allows us to handle him quite easily:) Thanks for your post!

  • @AJElectroMechTech I do have some advice for you. In this situation the gloves are necessary to prevent injury to your parrot. I do not believe the step up technique would work because of his fear/temper of his travel case. There are a number of unforseen injuries that can occur from chasing your bird around your home. Try buying a new travel case and acclimating it to the new mode of transportation by letting him explore it with treats etc. far before your next appt!

  • @RadBooLee I work at an veterinary clinic as well, specifically an Avian veterinary clinic. "Reading" had nothing to do with I said - I used my eyes and ears. And if you, as a veterinary 'worker??? techinician???' think it's wise for people to take the time to film their birds before they are oven-mitted - INSTEAD of being allowed to 'step up' before being put in their carrying cages.....that's disturbing. Good luck to you both.

  • @LenaLonsdale Lol "Stepping up" has never been an issue with him..as we both have no trouble getting him to come up on our hands, perches, spoons, etc. The fact that he throws this tantrum..and yes..that's all it is, is the reason for posting. There are plenty of videos out there showing very stressed out birds with much bigger issues! Go focus your negative energy on those who need it..I better not post the video of us dangling him above the stove for punishment..that may really set you off!

  • @LenaLonsdale please lets not devaluate the importance of all animal workers. I'm sorry you took offence to the reading comment there is some important information in earlier comments regarding this parrot. Part of solving the problem isn't criticizing, rather gathering information and making reccomendations. Using your eyes and ears is rarely enough, using your mind is key. Good luck to you!

  • Jesus, no wonder he's throwing a fit. "Is that really necsessary?" To him, yea, it is.

  • FlowingDepths - Greys are amazing birds. Please DON'T take this disgraceful video as a deciding factor. I don't know why in GOD'S NAME someone would put on a pair of oven mitts and scare the living shit out of a bird who is sitting there, minding it's own beeswax. This video shows nothing but CRUELTY, a complete lack of respect and proves NO point about whether a Grey will scream at 3 or at 20. And that wasn't a "temper tantrum", Jack - that was a fear. You should delete this video.

  • Your ignorance is astounding...and actually quite humorous! What happens when people have to take their unwilling dog to the vet?.."Come her boy..we're off to the vet!....come on into the car all by yourself...no? Ok, here's some treats, you just come out when you're ready" What happens next?..leash is put on and the dog is..convinced..wheather he wants to or not. Contrary to your uneducated diatribe, he is a healthy and stress free bird..who quite frankly doesn't like your opinion:)

  • And Buddy, I'm glad I make you laugh - you make me laugh too.

  • Wow, I didn't know that greys screamed quite that loud ^.^''. Guess I'll get something quieter, a pionus or a chicken or something lol.

  • nice biceps

  • ????? is that parrot 20 years old

  • @hamedsroor Yessir!

  • @AJElectroMechTech i hope he be a good parrot with you and live with you frever

  • @hamedsroor Thanks! He's become an entertaining, loveable part of our family and wouldn't have him any other way:) He'll outlive both of us, so yes..he'll be with us forever!

  • Never stick your hand in the cage like that. Just leave the door open and let the parrot comes of the cage on your his own.

  • @MrDefq and chase him around the house possibly causing injury?

  • The gloves are not needed and are the most likely cause of the screaming, i have 3 pairs of very wild greys and they react the same when the vet uses gloves but i never do even though i do get some very painfull bites.

  • This "POOR' bird has been rescued 17 years ago and has a loving, understanding home-from a VERY experienced person that has rescued other parrots in the past! Again this "POOR' bird as you so eloquently put it needed a visit to the vet and is terrified (for some unknown reason) of his carrying case. He is very comfortable with hands and handling, this was quite simply put a temper tantrum. He is a well adjusted happy parrot as per the vet shows no signs of stress!

  • You DO NOT need to be chasing that POOR BIRD around the cage like that. You need to get him to trust you and this is not how you do it!!! Please do some research you are only going to make him hate you more by doing this. Offer him treats out of your hands, let him come to you on his own. It might take months but the poor thing needs patience and consistency not flooding.
