the bottom line is this generation created a giant mountain of debt and still wants to pretend otherwise and will do anything to shift the responsibility for paying it back.
It's true that many people from that time turned out to be fakes just looking to get high, but that wasn't true about Abbie. Read his biography. He got arrested and spent time in jail for his convictions about American justice. And he genuinely tried to get the other sell outs from his time to radicalize and become outlaws. Have you ever read STEAL THIS BOOK? I mean it's way more radical than any of this modern hipster liberal bull shite. Also check out Abbie's pal Phil Ochs. Now HE was 4 real

I don't then that alot vof people lisened to jerry rubin the rich jew from somewere that nobody lisened to jerry the rich kid that's what we called him daddey money got you on campus but you did not show up at ohio did you jerry ruben ''''''''''''''' RONNIE KING m.s.u. I did not see you in MICH. state.
I find it hard to believe the Jerry Rubin of the Yippie movement wouldn't refer to 1980s business entrepreneur Jerry as a sellout. However, I don't hold it against him, or disregard his earlier sentiments simply because he was changed by the coarse his life took. Yippie Rubin was fond of saying you should never trust anyone over 30.
My peers today don't question authority or structures the way kids did in the 60s. It's really sad. We were raised to be compliant resume builders. We sit by as America is absolutely fucking pillaged without even so much as a peep. I may move to Canada, fuck this shit.
@WeNeedA3rdParty It's exactly the fucking same in Australia. Jerry would be fucking outraged if he saw how fucking co-operative and complacent most of Gen Y are. Take a fucking stand, cunts!
everyone says Jerry was a sellout but honesty he wasn't he was an entreprenuer of small businesses. plus he fought for putting wealth in depressed areas in the country.
thank you DOC, footage like this is not neing put out to this generation of youth and becuase of you maybe some smart individuals will stop and watch this and relize how fucked up the constraints of goveremnt and tradition over human life really is. thank you
rubin's meandering rambling doesn't have a message. he was a fairly smart fella but he doesn't seem to have convers with smart people except when he is mocking. the cat was an asshole.
Jerry, Abbie and the Yippies were great fun in their time. As narcissistic and obnoxious as they may seem, what they were doing in the context of this time period, was shaking the foundation of a socio-political mind-set that valued brutality and barbarism over peaceful co-existence and cooperation. If they seemed a little anxious to get their point across, it's because they were.
Yes, today those vo8ices are being silenced. These fellows were really nasty, yet as you say they communicated a needed message fot those days and today it's imperative to stop this foolish Iraq war.

ugh, these type of people were all complaining no answers. its difficult watching men act like girls. is it any wonder ALL of these types boringly fizzled out without a bang?
That's true! He did just that! How ironic, huh? lol But what's even more ironic is that he was killed thumbing his nose at society...he got run over by a car while jaywalking! lol Unreal!
BTW...doesn't Jerry Rubin look like Chuck Manson in this video? lol
did ever occur to you that rubin acted alone in his somewhat unbeleivable changing process from a yippie to a sell out? Did it ever ponder on "why" he became what he became?.......Rubin, in my view, tried to infitrate the interior of the system in order to destroy it. and to infiltrate the interior of the sys. you must become just like your enemy.
Turning his back on everything he believed and stood for, was probably more revolutionary than holding on to hippie values, whatever that is supposed to mean. It's great to be part of movements, but it's even better to be an individual. Yes, I am against capitalism and I don't think that every hippie grows away from their ideals. Rubin at least threw them away, instead of lying about how they were "continuing to resist oppression" as most did, which is what you are insinuating, or should be.
People actually used to listen to this nut job? He needed a padded room.

Youth, please note, if you want to grow up rich and capitalist, be a hippie first!

Thats why neo hippies are so scary. Because you know, in a few years their going to be the yuppy elite.
Basically their motto is "fight the establishment now, become it later"
