Falls man den Ansaugweg nicht auf die Stelle zukriegt und mutig genug ist, sollte man den Wagen auch abgewürgt kriegen, wenn man die Abgasanlage verstopft. Bei nur einem dünnen Endrohr sollte das machbar sein, aber bin mir nich hundert prozentig sicher, obs nicht doch schwierig wird ^^

Mit Schaltgetriebe hätte man den Motor abwürgen können.

Bei Automatik hilft nur "Ansaugluftweg verstopfen".

He put gas in the tank instead of diesel would be my guess. You can't shut the engine off till it locks up when that happends. At least on the older ones anyways.

@TNQTV The explaination is given numerous times, it has nothing to do with drive by wire. Funny how you mention German quality. German cars are known for their superior quality, American cars aren't. It's even funnier if you knew the X5 is produced in the US. So eventually it's American quality. (lots of plastic, parts that don't fit, driving feels like you're trying to steer a ship)

hello. i have a 1996 bmw 740 my water pump stopped , i didnt know. i kept driving , unaware . it started smoking. badly. i guess from it overheating, it wore my seals down and strted dripping oil into my combustion, once my spark plugs got fouled, it would burn oil. i have taken my valve cover off alrdy but dont know what my next step is to get to my valve stem guides. what do i do next?? please help

@bliglum, that was engine oil smoke, not diesel fuel. they are actually much cleaner than a gas engine. Recent studies show that diesel particulate pollution was over estimated by 300%

Many BMW engines need service or replacement because of a failure to react to a warning signal. The warning is a battery symbol (drawn in red) . The manual says Stop Immediately . This happened to me & I caled a BMW dealer. The service GM said the battery was not charging o do not shut the engine down, & drive to their facility 90 miles away. 5 miles later the engine blew. $12,500+. bill and dealer won't accept and responsibility for the GM's wrong response. diesel runaway. you have to stop the fuel from getting to the engine. the quickest and safest is to pull the fuse/relay for the fuel pump

@izeawalker This won't work, this happens when turbo is broken and oil from engine is getting throught intake to the valves and burning like a fuel. You can stop it only with the clutch and highest gear.

my dads bmw 330 d touring had the same problem xD

it blew the turbo and kept revving very hard until it ran out of oil and seized x(

it needed a new engine because the rebuild was too expensive

That's what you get if the turbo takes some oil , it will never stop unless you have a manual gearbox and put it in the 5th or 6th gear .

thats a runaway , this hapens when turbo seal is busted and the engine is running on its own motor oil! enven if you turn the key off.

I don't think it's possible. I think it's a diesel and when they stay reving they run until they're oil barren. If it's a manual transmission you can stall it easily. Otherwise you've to block the air intake to 'suffocate' the car.
