  • who is holding the helicopter? :O

  • R on belay!!!

  • They are moving faster than you think. I do this as a cop every so often. Of course we practice too. Safety is always an issue for us. The first time my heart was pumping faster than ever before. Now six years, the is caution side of me, but it's not so bad.

  • And now you can see I want to come to america!

Not sure we run anything like this in the UK. :( Looks awesome though, well done.

  • @JammyJack1 You certainly can in the UK, A friend of mine is in the AAC (Army Air Corp) and he's done this before from a Lynx helicopter.

  • looks like a rush

  • hooah! b 3-101 avn

  • Cool...I went to Air Assault school up in Ft McCoy, WI. We traded the Rangers up there some of our Jump Master slots for some of their Air Assault slots. (It's a Reserve Base but they have Rangers that teach the Combat Infantrymen School there and they also run an Air Assault course a couple of times a year.......or at least they did back in '91) I love jumping out of planes but rappelling from helo's is fun as hell too.

  • swat you are gay , guess you were pc on that blackhawk? lol

  • Muito bom! Adorei

  • "RPG"!!!!!!!

  • My Bro was rappeling out of that chopper

  • they kinda failed. LOL

  • to high to jump, to low to parachute..Rappel!

  • Thank You

  • AIR ASSAULT!!! Did this sort of thing all the time back in the day...

  • thinkthing about the growing demand for grunts in the middle east it makes sence they would want to speed up the training program.

  • It only looks that way because of the rate the camera can capture it. Kind of cool if you ask me.

  • its the camera

  • whats the difference between rapple and fastrope??

  • On a rappel you descend the rope with a descending device (figure 8, etc) attached to your harness. On a fast rope you are not attached to the rope...you just hold on to the rope with your hands and feet and slide down. Fast rope is a lot thicker than rappelling rope, and is better for short drops.

  • Dont forget, a fast rope is also fairly more dangerous when under pressure [i.e gunfire]

  • What??? They don't make you go full battle rattle anymore? Ha, I feel on my back in the bird when I tried to get up because my ruck screwed up my balance. That was pretty funny, kicking like a dying turtle trying to get up!

  • Yea, I'm surprised too about not wearing all the gear or at least a ruck. I was terrified cause I almost flipped all the way over wearing that dang ruck...Air Assault sergeant never let me forget it either.

  • I went through in '98, and we did two rappels from the '60, one was "Hollywood" as in this video, and the second was full ruck and weapon.

  • great copter.but russian mi-24 is better and butefuller

  • \o/

    Muito loko!

  • rappelling, not fastroping. fastrope is different.

  • Hell yeah! Really cool bro.

  • Fast rope from a helicopter is one of the many things i wish to do before i die.

  • Awsome

  • hahahaha!!! teve um BIZONHO!!!! que na hora de esticar a corda caiu .péssima apresentação de rappel. e bela aeronave pra executar a prática...

  • Wish I could do that. Nice video

  • Those rotors are moving so slow.....incredible!

  • they're not moving slow- they're going the normal speed of f*cking fast. haha. It's just the way the video records it (at like 80fps) so it looks slow

  • @tebbs94 your not serious right? lol

  • @tebbs94 Anti-blur camera effect

  • @tebbs94 tit

  • @tebbs94

Hahaha it does look weird right. Of course they're actually movin really fast

  • @tebbs94 No they aren't it just looks like they are moving slow

  • @tebbs94

Yeah. That aliasing effect looks really cool.

  • props to holding that biatch steady....not easy at 90'

  • RILEA!!!!! I knew I recognized that starship!

  • this is not fastroping in the least

  • yeah if u read the title it says rappel not fast rope

  • yes i know, i was referring to RainbowChinchilla thanks leadthewaymedic 75

  • roger that. RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

  • I have a frictionless descending device that makes this look easy. See the video on you tube(search for j-arms).

  • Comment removed

  • that is insane

  • man, fastroping like that looks like a lot of fun. hooah!

  • That wasn't fast roping...It was rappeling...

Fast rope,is fat in diameter and the guys wrap

their legs around it for braking...

  • ITS FASTROPIN BEEYATCH!

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!!

  • hooah

  • Air Assault! Looks like fun. Air Assault grad, 1985. We were in Alaska so we used Hueys. Blackhawks are much more fun!

  • I just got my JROTC recondo rappel badge for rappelling! hooah!

P.S.- the camera captured the rotors weird!

  • AAAAAAAaahhh...que delícia!!!

  • Wow, how long did it take you to conjure that one up, idiot? The Airforce is not apart of the Army. It is a part of the United States Armed Forces. Idiot^^

  • this may sound stupid... but why not just fast rope?

  • This course focused rappeling, so this was the culminating event, a UH60 rappel from 90 feet. This can be done from higher and is more deliberate than a fast rope (which is faster and more hasty)

  • @SWAT518 to my knowledge this is just for a drop off where time and safety isnt an issue, were as fast rope is to drop off quickly in a danger zone.

  • Yeup, but I betcha you didn't do your 12 mile ruck march on the beach in a gale at 4 am in the morning.

  • Awesome video. One of my friends/fellow cadet will be going air assault this summer. He looks like he'll be havin fun with this. As for me I got the airborne school slot instead.

  • im going to get to do this at the age of 12 with

    civil air patrol awesome

  • haha i just graduated 12march and i was roster 221

  • Yeah, Fun Stuff. :=)

  • Rappeling is the best.

  • whats the name of the thing they used to slow them down for hitting the floor??what that tool called?

  • belay?

  • its called a descender man

  • The worst part about the swiss seat is you're not really sure it's sitting right until you jump out, and then it's too late

  • Camp Rilea! I went to AAC in 2005, when they had that massive attrition on the o-course on day 0 and the 12 miler on the beach in the gale force winds.

  • haha yeah they dropped like 200 ppl on zero day in our course... the 12 miler was easy though, we did it on the road and a trail... no beach :)

  • Yea, that sounds about right for zero day. Part of the smoking was bear crawling up and down that little hill you see in the background of this video with your duffle bag on your back.

They changed the 12 miler!!!! You guys got lucky. Those that wanted to come back and try again the year I went through were able to do it on the range road, which was 100% better than the beach.

  • Hahaha yeah they smoked us on that hill... I thought it was pretty fun. That course was great!

And yes, they changed the 12 miler. I finished around 2:45 with no problem. Did you guys have anyone jump into graduation. I know they usually do that but we didnt have aviation assests that day... bummer

  • Yes, they had the top 2 or something like that jump into graduation.

  • I was in a three way tie for honor grad for my class. They were going to let us battle it out on the 12 miler but some douche complained until they found like one extra point on a test or something, and he got it. I had like plus 10 points and a 96 or something average and went 4/4 on my sling loads and maxed the hand and arm signals (since they were so hard and all... lol)

  • lol hand and arm signals. :P Good job on the 4/4 on the sling loads. Some people seemed to have big problems with that phase

  • seriously guys, who the fuck cares, any rope would probably do

  • omg youtube is full of know-it-alls. everyone knows everything about everything! "i believe the fast rappel uses a triple wound pubic hair mesh rope....." sheesh - who cares?!

  • OMGZ FAST ROPINGZ!

  • 7/16 diameter, tripple strand, nylon

  • Just so you guys have the real information you can refer to the Air Assault handbook or TC 21-24. Have a nice day.

  • dude thats not rappel thats fast rope

  • Thats rappel, Fast roping uses only 2 ropes from both sides of the helo and there are no security harneses, soldiers slice one after the other.

  • Wrong. Fast rope uses a 2'hemp or nylon single rope and rappelling uses two 1/2" ropes. Fast rope does not use a seat either. These guy's are using swiss seats.

  • swiss seats, that when not secured properly, hurt like a bitch. Heck, even when secured properly, they still hurt. :)

  • That's just pain leaving the body! You been on the open face of the 30 footer?

  • On the hill there was a lady

She was carrying a tiny baby

    I squeezed off a round

    The kid hit the ground

    Walking in a Sniper Wonderland

  • I just got a slot to Airborne school this summer and the biggest reason I'm doing it, is to show my cadre I can handle a slot for AAS. AA is so bad ass.

  • When I went to Air Assault School, I was running 5 miles a day beforehand. Then in the last couple weeks prior to the school, I amped it up to 7 miles. You will do a lot of running and will graduate only after a 12 mile road march. Prepare yourself. This is a classic infantry style course and you will be proud of earning those wings. Best wishes!

  • I will agree that Air Assault was tougher than Airborne. I was at Benning for Airborne school.

  • fort benning ive been there for a visit

  • UH 60 high in the sky. These are the winps that snivel and cry. Stand up, hook up, slide down the rope. An air assault trooper ain't nothing but a joke. Can't be, wants to be, like me. Airborne Ranger.

  • What were you at Benning for? I'd have to say AASLT School was far more challenging than ABN School...

  • good video
