35 YEARS OLD STUDER REVOX A77 home reparation (HQ video)

I did repairs on Revox a77 recorders a lot when I was living in the Virgin Islands. The store I was working in sold them back in the 1970s. The technician before me was so inept that he "butchered" about 15 of these, so without much formal training (I have a knack for figuring out electronic stuff), I managed to fix most of them.(take the good parts out of one to fix the other). I still have mine (one of the fixed units) I brought up from the VI.

please help me, I also have a revox A77 , and I have to replace the spark-kill condensers,and I have no idea how to take the machine apart..

please help!

I think that if you don't know how to take it apart maybe you should give your revox to a specialist? It only takes to remove 4 screws to remove the cover.

There are 4 spark killers in the A77, type Rifa Miniprint 0,47Uf 150V AC. If they are broken you can clearly smell it, it smells really afwul when they burn. Even if they are ok you should change them asap.

My new head from Otari { rec and play } better valour sound.

The best reel tape recorder is Uher Royal , Nagra stereo and Uher Report Stereo.

I Have one of these (with the silver front plate) and it has some issues (from age) and I would appreciate an audio commentry as to what you do/did with your servicing. Also do you know how to make a remote for one of these. If so a vid would be majorly cool :-)
