Kind of a mix, restoration and renovation. It was a junked out house when I bought it, and I'm making it nice again but trying to keep as much of the original work as possible. The house is over 175 years old..
I read your info and you ARE a troll! you should just load your crack pipe and listen to your re-made music and leave people alone that are simply trying to show how somethings are done. Mr Peek works as hard as anybody I've ever seen and I'm sure he just hopes someone learns a little from his videos. I'm a heavy metal bassest, don't really get into the banjo but I recognize talent when I hear it.
If you quit being a complete dick and WATCH maybe you'd learn something but I doubt it :P
stupid question. i was thinking about redoing my basement, and need to put up a wall. i was busy thinking about sheetrock and such, but then it hit me. I have no idea what the studs attach to, or how to attach them to the floor, to build a dturdy wall. any help with "framing", i guess it would be?
Framing isn't hard at all. Maybe I'll make a video for you of framing the wall.. You know, you might want to get a set of those old Time Life books.. They tell how to do about anything you want to do in a house, and now days, since computers have about taken over the world, they're pretty cheap.. Worth a thought.. Thanks.
You need a pan, it will save a lot of up's and down's. Taping or finishing using two knives is for the birds.
Also carry the tape on your belt. You can make a carrying "bracket" from 9 ga wire or the handle of a five gallon bucket. Place the bedding compound in the seam, run the tape and cut it with the taping knife to the seam by holding the knife in place and pulling the tape off. Saves more time and energy.
You did the whole job wrong buddy. when you put the tape on your supposed to move that putty knife like a squeegee and remove the excess mud from under it. You see how the paper is bubbling and coming off in the end of your video? You need to start over or it wont look right at all for the final product. To be honest you need it done professionally. Don't be cheap and you will be happy.
Humh... interesting. This was listed as the "featured" video for today on my front Youtube page. Oh well, at least this is more entertaining than the damn vloggers and make-up tutorials that they usually put up.
Yea, well I kind of wanted to get it done.. hahah. Love that nice hot shower in the mornin'. We're havin' pretty nice weather up here for a change, so plenty of time to get the roadster ready..
My uncle did sheet rock for a living....he liked to worked me to death doing this stuff....but it's a useful skill to have even if you only rarely do it.
Next coat lay it on thick. About 1/4 inch. Make a pass down the right and then the left keeping the knife tight on the outside. Then a pass steady down the middle. Let it dry, knock off the boogers and final coat it at 45 degree angle. sand it good and use a light against the wall to look for imperfections, touch up and let dry.
There that is one of many ways to DIY drywall.
One of my heros, you can always work on the rat while it dries. You have an excuse.
BTW, will you do a video of the finished project?
It would be neat for you to do a "walk through" of all the projects you have done in your house, and show us how they are all meshing together now, even if they aren't all complete yet. It would kinda give us a feel of the overall progress of your restoration/remodel project. It's kinda nice to step back and take a perspective view of the whole thing.
Don't you wish that your mudding would go as fast as it does in your high speed video? It has to be one of the most tedious jobs of carpentry, especially the sanding afterwards to smooth it out.
I have done more than my share over the years, and still it seems to take too much time...
great ending
