To the commenters who are awake, always remember, "less then 10% of the american population supported independence." America is the country it is, because some cool mofos said, "DON'T TREAD ON ME."
These idiot commentors keep talking about the "law" once upon a time the law was slavery, or prohibition, or segregation, or 10 shillings for an indian scalp, or women couldnt vote, or a red coat could sleep it off in your house. Protesters like these changed the law, you should be congratulating them on their enthusiasm whether or not you agree with them. After all, I'm trying hard not to hate cops who say things like disperse or u deserve whatever i do to u.
I agree with you. Bush is a liar and a criminal. But so is every President including Obama. If they can divide us by getting us to think that they are on opposing sides and agendas, then they have us to busy fighting amongst ourselves to watch and act against their globalist agenda. Not true. The fundamental political difference in America today is whether we are a Representative Republic - ruled by LAW, or a Democracy - ruled by MAJORITY
That's why the two parties are "Democrat" - Democracy, & "Republican" - Republic. They're not just clever names
Some who support majority rule - Democrats - r actually socialist &/or communist who oppose capitalism. US has always had a long history of Communist / Socialist sympathy - ex Eugene Debs winning 6% o the popular vote 1920

speaking of the courts they have said it IS your right to resist arrest with equal force that police are using to try to arrest you IF your rights are being violated
u are an idiot. No sane court has ever ruled that, & certainly not in America

Police can be arrested, the state can be sued, & cops can & r jailed, but your moronic uninformed misconceptions about t law do NOT authorize u2 use violence vs police @ your own discresion
Pretty scary when you think about. Those students in the video were accused by the local government of doing the same thing the students in Tiananmen were doing. They refused to go home after the government told them to. How much does that fact bother you?
The bill of rights simple allows for peaceful demonstrations. I didn't see any burning or fliping of cars and demolishing of stores. Peaceful. The regime in power hates it when we voince our God given right to oppose tyranny. I think we should take arms and forget the peaceful part. They line up,lets shoot them like the red coats.
What you DID see is refusal to disburse, which IS a crime, whether u like it or not
& how about not being such a drama queen. 1 night out of 365, when the police ask u to leave because of previous day lawlessness, how about u follow the law & leave
U want to shoot law enforcement? I hope they trace your IP
What r you ignorant? protesting is guaranteed as a right! The second amendment is for us exercise if we beleive that " they" the government is breaking the rights of people who are lawfully demonstrating. The police as you put demanding you leave is not lawful if the protesters are demonstrating in peaceful and lawful manner. Kent State do you remember or are you to young too? I am not! This is going to be much worse, and guns are going to be drawn on Americans by these "lawless Police".
u have a right to protest, that right was observed, but the time, place, & manner of that protest IS subject to reasonable restriction. The courts have ruled on this several times
Even if YOU think the police order is "lawless", ur obligation as a citizen is to take that 2ur congressman or address it in the courts. You have no legal RIGHT to fight w police
Armed attacks on law enforcement should be your LAST resort, not your first, & if u weren't such a reactionary douche bag u'd kno that
I don't care what laws corrupt judges pass that infringe upon our constitutional rights. Wake up and realize that our rights are being taken away every day.
If the courts passed a law saying that cops have the right to shoot you in the face, would you still advocate and support that law? No, you wouldn't. Don't tell me there is a difference between rights. One is just as important as all. Never lose sight of why America exists!
Or do you really think mobs of black bandana'd protesters, naer do wells, & anarchists really have a "constitutional right" to march up to the President of the United States & the leaders of every major country of the world, disrupt their meetings, & hold them hostage to your teenage demands?
If this were Greece every man, woman, and child would be out in the streets. I understand you're conditioned to follow what your government tells you, but sooner or later you'll begin to realize that we've moved far away from the constitutional rights.
Teenage demands? I would have to be a teenager in order for that statement to be even half true. I would also have to be demanding something.
Oh... If only the kids in the video had been doing that. They only thing they did was refuse to go home after the cops told them to. They weren't breaking anything, disrupting anything, or causing trouble. Most of them were just sitting on the grass doing nothing. I guess they deserved what they go, eh? Anymore generalizations or stereotypes you care to put forth?

Someday you'll wake-up and begin to act like an adult

Even some college students should be able to figure this out... POlice warn at least three times to leave the area...and if you do not you will be arrested or pepper sprayed or a combination of both ... ITS YOUR CHOICE...
a211pc...we in America have this crazy little document called the Constitution. Maybe you are from a Communist or Facist country where you have no civil rights, but in America it's different.
I am actually from a country that is based on law and order and rspect for ppl' s property and that has more freedom then many others... the USA .. and when ppl are told to leave the area they need to follow the law or get arrested even you should be able to figure that out.... The protesters broke windows and created property damage that has nothing to do with civil rights ...no one has the right to destroy property so next time stick around and get sprayed again after being warned ...
Wrong only one person did $20,000 in damage the other $30,000 was done by others. I hace respect for the people that came to get there point across peacefuly, but I have none for the group or groups that had no point other than to cause problems and damage.
jimmyc330, maybe I missed something... it there evidence that the girl in question personally damaged property....maybe in another video? If not, then sorry sir, those three cops should have those sticks shoved where the sun don't shine.
You are wrong one person caused $22,000 damage at the Bank he was arrested. 4 people caused $6,500 damage in glass and other vandalism elsewhere and several others were arrested for damge to vehicles..thats not alot of arrests I grant you but more then one....you need to get your facts straight..
"and when ppl are told to leave the area they need to follow the law or get arrested "
It doesn't work like that at all. I see no acts of violence or aggression in this video. The police were sent to quiet resistance .They were not defending the rights of anyone, which is their job. "To protect and serve" means the people, not the law.
It does work like that ...you are told to leave by Police there is no debate whether you see acts of violence or not if you stay in area after a warning you can get arrested pretty simple to understand isn't it ?
Actually when the dispersal order is given I leave the area so there is no hauling...if you and your friends wish to stay there that's up to you ,,,and you can get hauled ..
Yeah and when you have no respect for others and their property and break the law and stomp all over the rights of innocent people you bring on the police and problems for yourself. You'll figure it out when you grow up.
Problem is, they warned us after setting up the line, mate. They don't allow students through the line, and I live in downtown, not Oakland. How was I supposed to disperse if I can't head home?
Also, I understand that you're under the impression that the "demonstrators" got three warnings; they got one, with the second phrase repeated twice.
I'm not taking sides, but I got caught up in this mess, and the bullshit wasn't just flying from the kids.
I am a former Pitt student and previous photo editor of the Pitt News. In 1991, when the Pirates went into the playoffs, hundred of us spilled into the quad and Forbes Ave to celebrate. The police showed up and did NOTHING because we did nothing wrong. Here the protestors were fewer, did nothing wrong, and got gassed and shot with rubber bullets. The police actions in this case are DISGUSTING! I'm ashamed of them!!!
people were braking windows, throwing bottles at cops, and vandalizing cars, the protesters did do something wrong. In one video on youtube you see a group of protesters push a dumpster down the hill at a group of cops, someone could of gotten very hurt. You said it yourself, "The police showed up and did NOTHING because we did nothing wrong" If people knew how to protest like adults and not like a soccer riot then it wouldn't of ended up like this but a few bad apples ruin it for the rest.
You're right. These things did happen in Pittsburgh. But very, very little of this was occurring in Oakland where the university is. What's more, none of these things were happening the night the police overreacted and shot the crowd with tear gas and rubber bullets. There is simply no excuse for this behavior.
funny thing is ppl think the cops are a joke! they only warned these loser protesters and stupid lame college kids like 10 times! this is not a video game..its real life dummies
man you canadians sure a re a bunch of pussies, stand your ground if you really are passionate about what you're protesting about.

You're right. These things did happen in Pittsburgh. But very, very little of this was occurring in Oakland where the university is. What's more, none of these things were happening the night the police overreacted and shot the crowd with tear gas and rubber bullets. There is simply no excuse for this behavior.

Yeah, they warned us that standing there was a violent and unlawful protest.
I never imagined that so many asterisks would be allowed into our rights.

Stick to the facts...you were warned to disperse that an unlawful assembly was taking place period ..and if you stay you will be arrested..
