  • I may not agree with people's sexual choices but I absolutely agree they need to be respected beyond a shadow of a doubt in order for real communication to take place

  • This video is pretty interesting, but maybe I'm too cynical to believe it would have to much impact on the general bigoted views of cops who's job is more or less to intimidate people and find out if they are doing anything they can nail them for.

  • i was a bit thrown off when the officer at 6:19 said "if they have male genitalia, they are considered men" but after he went on a little more i understood. personally i was being seen as transgender and not male, i would feel a little uncomfortable being felt around by a man. seeing as he knows what is and isn't there i might feel taken advantage of so i completely agree and it should not be taken as something as ignorance.

  • @groovinupslowly yes! i found that whole section super questionable. "If you have to search a transsexual, ask if they are pre-op or post-op." If a cop asked me that question I don't know what i would do, do i say "none of your bizness" or just let them invade my privacy as much as they can. As for the women officers can't see penises and men can't see vaginas is such a hetero-normative standard. I want the Trans officers to pat me down... or just to be let go with impunity. :)

  • I am so very appreciative of this. +1 respect for coppies :3

  • Thank you chicago police department .I am pre op transgender. And I live here in houston texas, Hopefully houston pd has the same kind of video understand the chicago P.D. has .Thank you Cindy from Houston,TX.

  • It is a good thing to help people be better people. However, I am very upset that Ofc. J. Wombles said twice in his interview, "personal choices." That is absolute bullshit! Better than anyone else he should know that who we are sexually attracted to is not, ever been, nor will it ever be a choice! I knew since I knew boy from girl. Don't ever belive for a second that anyone can chose how they are going to be born. I hope you all have a happy and blessed life.

  • It's not a perfect video in many respects, but I really like that the police are making an effort to respect diversity. I especially like the part about using the proper pronouns.

  • wow!! talk about police brutality. if i were searched by a man who was a woman at one point in time that is brutality.

  • Maybe I need some testosterone, the one cop had more hair on my face than I. I'm trying to grow a beard and it won't fully grow

  • @TheSpydra you really are a simple minded human just saying

  • I started watching this, and i soon realized it was a horrible police training video.

  • I couldn't think if any manly accessories that girls can't use

  • Damn iPod. Cont. Androgynous, bigendered, and genderfluid. I'm genderfluid and I am not doing it "for some sick thrill". It's who I am. Some days skater boy with a clutch, others blouse and skirt with a briefcase. Those with well defined identitys are at least lucky in that regard, but honestly we don't need people like you pushing us.

  • Why must they be "sick" while some do peruse it for sexual fulfillment, a good portion do not. There are many more ways to be than even shown here. They didn't mention genderqueer, with the nutrois

  • It is unjustice to keep Transgenders away from anyone else and the SOCIETY spilted just in MALE and FEMALE category. I would give my life, the whole world to include TRANSGENDERED people in their 1 DIMENSION life and point of view with their UNFAIR rules and applications !!!

We need to SERVE EACH PEROSON AS YOUR OWN SOUL as long they do not attend to hurt you .

If it's Freedom and Justice THEN MAKE IT LOOK LIKE !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to this PROMO video helping us out now and then ! xoxo

  • Humanity's Great Secret 1/26

  • We need more of these informative videos to be aired on TV all over the nation to help people become aware of others.

  • @detagirl

    I agree with you!!

  • These two crossdressers should NEVER be accepted because they are just sick men trying to fulfilled a sexual fantasy while the 13 year old T girl can not even get a job at burger king. If you doubt what i am saying go to alphabet ball 93 right here in youtube and see how beautiful and 100% female these young women are. See the difference between, the real T girls and these two crossdressers that have great jobs. I pray that they ARE NEVER ACCEPTED. They are sick perverts and need help

  • @acdekl1 I think we got ur opinion on the first comment.

  • and these crossdressers seek to be accepted by society. The only reason why Diana and Stevie have great jobs is because they are white men and made it as such and now they want to force society to accept them. White educated men have GOOD JOBS but true transexuals that transition at 13 are prostituting themselves. I HOPE and PRAY that this group of people NEVER get accepted. It infuriates me that the young T girls are dying of AIDS while these two sick crossdressers get away with being accepted.

  • @acdekl1 it's so sad and true.

  • people like Diana williamson and Stevie Conlon have great jobs, the house and the wife who accepts that her husband is now female, just because they were men, all of their lives. I dont consider these people True Transexuals. First of all they dont even sound female but what angers me the most is while young T women transition at age 13, even though they look, sound and and some are extremely beautiful, they have to sell their bodies to make a living.

  • I think they still aren't fully understanding of the subject in this video however being a transgender myself I understand that its not easy to understand but this should be made watched in schools I think so that kids first of all are aware that is not just homosexuals taking it a step further but to let the kids in the closet feel more comfortable and not have to worry about it and think they aren't okay

  • well, this video just blew my mind...apparently the chicago police training program is AWESOME! i think this is a great start, and i think everything said in the video is of utmost importance...particularly that you don't need to understand or agree with someone's choices but you need to respect them. Yay chicago!!

  • Asking a person if they are pre or post op is extremely rude! That is a very personal matter. It would make much more sense for the officer to ask the person who they are most comfortable being searched by, a male or female officer. There are many MTF individuals who have breast implants and wouldn't feel comfortable having a male officer search them - there are many more example of this of course, that is just one.

  • This is a really good video. I'm happy to know a police force is taking this kind of action against transphobia.

  • wow this stuff is taking over. its getting sickening. at least with this we wont get over population in Illinois.

  • man i would love to sit with a bunch of cops and listen to comments and questions after this....bet that would be interesting

  • However, I like how it sayz - use the appropriate pronoun - rather than "preferred pronoun"

Oh well, at least Chicago is trying to train their police to be respectful... but this is why the Feminist Outlawz have plent more work ahead!

  • Termz/phrasez like - born a biological, born with both sex organz, trans-umbrella, full/complete sexual reassignment surgery, ask the person if they are pre-op/post-op etc...

Another issue- they say that searching folkz with matching genitailia to the officerz is a matter of safety... I say BULLDOO-DOO!

  • You can see the guy reading at the end lol...

  • How can I get a copy and permission to use this video in a company training presentation?

  • Rather than by "Ma'am" or "Sir", you can also address people by "Excuse me?".

  • Thanks for uploading! :)

  • None of this confuses me at all. I totally understand it.

  • Wow, makes me want to move to Chicago. This is intense stuff. I'm pretty much vanilla straight guy myself, but I know (from experience in the military) how difference (of any kind really), self-consciousness and just plain ignorance can bring out the ugliest, most grotesque behavior in people. Chicago Police Department, just imagine!

  • I had to look up youtube videos for a college project for an intro level Gender Studies class and this is by far the most informative and useful one I have found. I have to say that this video follows what I have been learning to a "T". It's really something that the Chicago Police Department has a video like this.

  • Hey, those cops had that lady pulled over by Devry (the one by Lane)!...........Videos on trannies, GLAD TO SEE OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK.....?

  • Excellent! If only they had these videos everywhere... I want to say 'Bravo Chicaco Police!'

  • officer=oversear

  • I feel really sorry for all the bigots that despise us transsexual woman and men! @ 9:15 HE makes a good point! You dont need to understand it, but you should respect it. I cant help who I am, anymore than you can help being a racist pig. I am proud to be a girl! I was so unhappy for a long time, but for once in my life I am happy =)

  • fuck i feel safe now

  • I'm sorry, but I was born intersexed and I disagree with intersexed being part of the transgendered category. Allot of intersexed people would strongly disagree with this video. There are two types of trans...transsexual and transgendered....not intersexed...we are in a category of our own. Now if some intersexed people feel that they are trans, then that is that indiidual's identification. They can't automatically declare us trans just because we are intersexed, that's not fair.

  • Comment removed

  • At one point in the 1990s transgender (in the sense of not-binary-gender) was considered as a political umbrella term that included intersexual people. But it has turned out that this umbrella is not helpful and disrespectful of intersex people's specific and much more urgent struggle. In that respect the video is outdated and should be changed, as it leads to a confusion of trans and intersex.

  • @Thricearoundthecircl - Hi. I will agree, the 'Intersexed' people do tend to get overlooked and there is a lot of misunderstandings concerning intersexed people. The whole Trans thing is so ramified and convoluted. I'm a Post Op Transwoman and I don't really think about categories. I'm still a Transwoman. Many of my ilk hate the term 'Transgender' as it covers seemingly everyone and then we get the hardcore TS lot screaming 'ooooooh, we're not Transgendered, thats like for CD/TV's etc..argh!

  • great video very educational

  • I agree with the officer at the end respect is all that is needed.

  • Thank you. I wish other cities would follow CPD in this!

  • Thank you so much for making this video!

  • About 15 yrs ago I was arrested by CPD for solicitation, I am Transgendered, spent night in lockup, went to court etc. I am a college degreed professional not in any way a prostitute and wrote complaint letters from mayor Daley down, with very little response from anyone... Including my arresting officer. I want to say thanks to CPD for this video.

Maybe it will prevent another from being in the situation I was in. Kudos and renewed respect for C P D.

  • Excellent video. Very informative. Thanks for sharing.

  • Kudos to the Chicago Police Department, and all the people involved in this video.

    Thank you.

    Cynthia

  • j is hot!

  • there are so many fucking mean people who dose not understand what is trans... they always making us look bad and feeling down... i hate them so much sometime...

  • More Transgender cop less brutality

  • if that was the case, it would be the other way around. Most FTM you wouldn't even know they where biological females unless you saw them naked. Thats why you dont hear much about them because they can live stealth more than Male to Female.

  • Maybe because you're a bigot?

  • My curiosity about FMT rather than MTF stems from the fact that I am female and wanted to know a woman would want to look and sound like a man.I understand now. They were born in the wrong bodies. I cant imagine having to walk aound in a man's birthday suit when I'm feeliing female inside.I'd just die.

  • Would You Like to Know about U.T.S: Untied Transgender Support? "This Support Meeting for MTF & FTM People is in Orange County and Supports all Transgender People!"

  • Another pathetic arm chair therapist! You are not qualified or good enough to speak for transgender people because you haven't gone through what we went through. It's because of terrible human beings like you that there are still so much hate and ignorant in this world. You should be thankful that you don't have the struggles that we do and be a little more compassionate.

  • Um thats how minds work you idiot. Why do you think people choose the clothing they wear, the hairstyle they sport, the tattoos and piercings one has? Itd do you good to do some research on intersex people and how some of them have their genitals mutilated and are forced to live as male or female and grow up and realize they were being forced to live as the wrong gender.

  • WTF !!! It's not O.K. to ask a trans person if their post or pre OP!!!! Yes, the video is informative and needs to be present.

  • No your right it isnt, but due to regulations they have to, if you were born male but are now post op female, then a female has to search you if needed, same for the other way round, however if you are pre op then the gender you were born with is the gender of the officer you will be searched by, We trans people understand this, its not okay to ask, but if its for authority then we understand that we have to comply.

    Hope this helps

  • The Police did a good job and reseached the Video very well.

  • Damn, 'Casey' is attractive.

  • Why do you say that?

  • it's nice that there is a video like this for the police force, but i'm not sure i agree with some of the wording...

  • Thank you so much for posting this video....I think I wouold oike some family members to view this...very informative.

    thanks again

    cassie

  • what was nice about that was the officer who came to the house noticed I dressed feminine and asked me how I would like to be addressed? I was really happy in a way to see that report online using preferred pronouns and my preferred gender reflected.

  • nice :D that's what i like to hear!

  • Very informative video that they are showing there officers. I mean you really never know who or what you going to come across in that line of work.

I plan on showing this video to some of my family members as a teaching tool because they are all having the pronoun issues when it comes to addressing or referring to me.

I had to file a police report against an ex family member where I live because they threatened to have me "taken out"

  • I hope they have a video like this in NYC

  • Umm intersex is more than "both sex organs"

Thats inacuratte...as Intersex often has anythinh OTHER that someone have "both sex organs"

  • You mean creeps like you eh!! LOL

  • You don't have to understand, that's fine, but please don't be disrespectful.

    Thanks.

  • im not being disrespectful.

im entitled to my opinion. am i not?

  • im not being disrespectful.

im entitled to my opinion. am i not?

    sorry if i offended anyone

  • Its ok Beretta you were probaly just trying to have fun..

But calling someone creeoy for something they can not help nor chose

    is wrong..

Esoecially when words have been followed up with physical assaults from the attacker...

Ans as pretty much any one our community can testify too we are targeted way too often too not be offended.

Check remember our dead by By Gwen Smith. We have lost way too many.

I cry for the fallen officers AND the TGS

as we have much in common.

    Being targets.,

  • @NotYourAverageOne "Disrespectful" is a bogus word. It means "with disrespect". However, disrespect is the absence of respect. Therefore, it would be more appropriate to use the word "respectless".

(This is not in any dictionary, nor a personal attack on you; it's just my opinion.)

  • @YukiNekoPrincess

You pose valid point here. I don't take it as a personal attack by any means :)

  • LOL Yeah I know berette you already said you were creepy...

Anways yeah this video is awesome Kudos to the Chicago PD

  • once again im not being disrespectful.

im entitled to my opinion. am i not?

    sorry if i offended anyone

  • Its because of that behavior that this video is needed.

  • @berettaman092 What is so creepy about this video?

  • exactly what Diana said, it's ignorance.

  • Much as I respect the FTM officer, his use of the word "choices" is highly inaccurate. People don't choose to be trans. Using the term "choices" is a trivialization of who we are into some kind of lifestyle choice. He should know better.

  • "An officer safety issue??" How on earth is patting down a pre-op related to officer safety? Very ignorant.

  • My thoughts exactly. Really, they shouldn't be touching anyone like that I don't think.

  • So very awesome this is such a great video thank you so very much for posting it , very well done:)

    Huggs

  • Bravo. Thank you for making and for loading this video. wonderful work. Education is the answer.

  • This is a great video. This is more than a step in the right direction. I hope other cities follow suit or borrow this from Chicago.

  • LOVE THIS VID

  • ofc. j wombles is soooooooo cute...mmm sexy man.

  • I tip my hat to Chicago PD. This video is superb.

  • I think it is incredible that a video like this exists. Times are moving forward, thank goodness. :) This video needs to go out to every precinct.

  • I wish more precincts around the country had these kinds of resources. Go Chicago!

  • They should distribute this video to EVERY Police Force in The Countyr, and MAKE Them Watch.

They may not agree with it, but at least they would be more informed and educated on this matter.

I Myslef have suffered discrimination from an Officer b/c I'm Trans.

The People who are supposed to be our PROTECTORS, should have more empathy and better knowledge of people who are not categorized into the "Normal" aspect of Everyday Life.

  • The communities are part of each other. There's no actual dividing line, but I do have to say that the term "intersexed" is relatively new and only currently included under the blanket term transgender as opposed to cisgendered.

I won't go into the other points, but you can't say all transgendered people are intersexed.

  • Hey, so we are all human, get it? We all carry the people around us, or choose whether we do carry or not carry. Education and becoming a good educator is the best positive outlook I've realised to date. I say this for the same reasons as you are reading this. Be careful out there!

  • Two statements? As in my statement... Where I said, "currently included under the blanket term transgender as opposed to cisgendered," which means... Exactly what I said. No hidden messages. No nothing.

Intersex(uality) is currently under the blanket of transgenderism. That's not to say it belongs there or that it'll always be there.

    (Continuing this comment.)

  • (Cont'd.)

There is and likely will never be a definitive line between them because genders are actually not solid objects. The subjectivity of gender is really what causes all of this.

Not all intersexed people are "born with both," but that is how most people who haven't looked into the subject would understand the topic.

Lastly, no one is an exception because everyone is an exception. Everyone, in some way, is different. It's hard to address everyone well.

    Hope that all made sense.

  • @ellemueller Tons of people who appear male are biologically neither..as they were born with a 47xxy chromosome makeup, like me. We don't all have 'both'' genitalia..1 in 1000 its estimated are true hermaphrodite (48xxy), 1 in 10 are 47xxy, by studies i've read. I'm becoming mostly female myself , in the deep south, even. Sorta blows the doors off the belief that trans and intersex don't exist in the south, as believed very often.

  • @Marissa4268 I know this quite well, but thank you for bringing up what I had not mentioned. Also, not sure how it was construed this way, but no one has 'both'.

  • thanks to poeticlioness

    fab video

  • This is something that needs more awareness.

  • Excellent! 5*****

    Thank you Poetic!

    Gaby.

  • Thanks! I'm still looking for more.

  • When I saw this, I couldn't resist uploading to bring awareness. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Great video! Especially since I've met a lot of the folks and shopped in the shop in the video! I hope folk will understand a little better.

  • wow this video is very impressive now people can understand a little more.

  • I totally agree, that's why I needed to put this up!!
