Marx envisioned no government and total equality in the end. Libertarianism is very limited government. Im talking about far left to far right. Marx did not want Trotskyism, Stalinism, or Maoism. Those types of government exercise total control of the economy which is indeed far left.

Libertarianism limits the power of government to restrict and regulate capital and wealth, it is elitist and leads to money having even more power. Did you ever think that people liked Ron Paul because he said he would bring the troops home not just from the middle east but from everywhere? He was the only one who also came out and said he would get rid of wiretapping and also end the war on drugs. That is why a lot of people liked him. That's not how the political spectrum works. Only the libertarians twist the spectrum as such. The place on the spectrum is determined by the position one takes on the issue of private property and capital accumulation. The libertarian ideology is a rightist elitist philosophy that is more Neocon than the Neocons. It empowers wealth even more than it is now and removes all the regulations that protect us. It is rule by the wealthy promoted blindly by those who it will not help.

Libertarians are the worst brand of rightist. Their idea of freedom is the market. A market for freedom means that only those who can afford it are truly free. Libertarians are the new ultra-right hidden in the alluring prose of democracy. But it is a democracy few can afford. It is the libertarian camp that wants all of our public assets destroyed, they are the radical privatizes who carry on the Neocon mantra while denying it. Those who believe govt doesnt work have no reason to be in it

A free market society is a society that puts a price on freedom. You can't have full freedom in a market because the market inherently will create inequities that allows the wealthy more power. A rich person is freer than a poor one, and more politically powerful. So therefore freedom in a market society is an relative illusion; the level of freedom being correlative the degree of equity. Free markets are only truly free for the wealthy.
