I doubt read much about TR only enough to bash him. Maybe he just doesnt know what historical relativism is. What TR said has a completly differint meaning if said in todays time than it did when it was said back then. Progressivism and new nationalism are relative to the time they were implemented. for example saying there needs to be more safty regulations on food before the clean food and drug act was passed means some thing compleatly differint than if the same statment were made today.
I don't remember ever bringing up obama's name in my comments. I just said that the new nationalism is the "greatest speech in history" from my point of view. I didn't mention anything about obama. I never said he (obama) was great. I think obama is doing ok as the pres.
@MsDelta1138 Ok, thanks for logging your entry for greatest speech ever given. Like I said, It's not even listed. FDR's "Fear" speech is...The Gettyburg Address, Washingtons Farewell, Reagan's keynote at the '64 RNC, Nixon's "Checkers", Jfk's "Ask Not" speech...MLK's "I have a dream" is listed...no "New nationalism"..my guess is that the authors folihly didn't consult You. When I think of all the great speeches in the Hx of the world, from now on, I'll think of You...Teddy, and Obama's "ok".
No I am not joking! The new nationalism speech is great. The quest for a true democracy for everyone. Have you ever read it? Don' t knock it until you've read it. It might be one of the reasons old teddy's likeness is on mount rushmore!!
@MsDelta1138 Are you talking about TR? Because I just looked through my copy of 'The Great Documents of the American Nation' and the speech isnt there. So it didnt make the cut. If you were talking about Barack Obama and attempt to attach the title of "great" to Anything the man has ever said or done, this conversation is already over.
@MsDelta1138 I have to assume you're joking. The new "Nationalism" speech should enjoy a place right next to Obama's "speech on race"...remember That One hahaha? "I could no more disown the Reverend Jeremiah Wright than I could my dear old racist grandmother."
As far as telling Doozies goes, that was one for the ages! How long after that did Obama throw Wright under the bus...3 weeks?
The paradigm in American politics (democracy) has always been the manipulation of the facts to cater to the audience. There should be more people who argue for transparency and truthfulness, and call out those politicians who feed on the guilt of the people to spin the facts for their own agenda.
