When I was in junior high, I watched this every afternoon. They had the BEST guests on and lots of great interviews. I regret not having been able to record the shows back then. I've been trying to recreate the experience ever since, but it'll never be the same. It had a profound influence on my musical tastes, random as they are. haha Thanks Gia for introducing me to everything from My Bloody Valentine to Skinny Puppy. :D

I went to see the Mary Chain when they were interviewed. I was lucky enough to tell her to I thought she was the coolest and then give her a kiss on the cheek. Sigh........ LOL!
i remember request video in the late 90s switched formats and got rid of the vj and just had videos, sometimes with an obscure 80s theme. used to rad back when there was no real internet to watch indie and old videos
While waiting outside the KDOC studios (in line to see Wally George) we saw Gia drive by us as she left the studio. EVERYBODY in line all started cheering & she gave us all a wave. Ah, the old days.
DAMN!! I use to watch this every afternoon. It was this, and Wally George. I was in Junior High and my first couple years of high school. I lived with my Grandparents. And they refused to get cable. So this was one of the only ways I could see music videos without going to a friends house.
I still remember the time I was watching request video years back. A caller called up and Gia was with a British Band. I forget what the band's name was, but anyway, the Gia asked the caller, "what would you like to ask the band?" The caller said, "Yeah why don't you two guys get off of your chair and f*ck Gia!" Gia said, "Thanks for your call!" One of the band members cracked up right away while the other member was like, "what?"
man, the hell with these stupid callers! faith no more, new kids, cc music factory? man, music starting going downhill at this time! i still have the performance of peter murphy doing a live full set on this show. great stuff! i used to watch this all the time. thx for posting.
REQUEST VIDEO was great! I love Gia, and the guest hosts from KROQ. Poorman, Swedish Egil, and the Rodney Bingenheimer ones were great too. Req video was originally hosted by Richard Blade, Req VId was a spinoff of MV3,. I still have tapes from those shows and need to transfer to digital. As fas as Gia, I miss seeing her. I have one show where she's trying to sell her car and goes into the back lot showing it. THANKS for posting this video.
oh man. this is yet another reason why i LOVE youtube. i used to rush home from school just to watch this show. of the many times I called in to request a video, i think i only got in once. i had a big crush on Gia.
i even watched Wally George (after Request Video) or did he air before her? it's been so long. thanks for posting this video.
Damn this brings back such memories. I didn't have cable so this was the only show I got to watch music videos. Toward the end of their run, they started playing more the pop stuff like Paula Abdul and New Kids on the Block. I remember them interviewing RHCP, Nirvana, Mudhoney..I remember Depeche Mode stopped by their studios and Poorman gave away "personal items" of the band like a cup that Martin drank and signed or something like that.
By any chance, do you have the episode when Gia did the show drunk? It was the day of the KDOC Christmas party. Gia came on looking waisted, and was slurring her speech. She kept saying that she was on a sugar high. Yea right, sugar. Fermented sugar. She must have had a hangover after that show.
I would love to see that episode again. You know, post it on YouTube. It was too classic for words.
Thank you so much for these clips. I've been looking for Request Video stuff forever. I used to watch it religiously. It went off the air when I was 12, so it had a huge impact on me in my formative years.
Didn't they used to broadcast out of a studio in Anaheim? There was nothing else like it.
I used to watch Gia everyday when I was in high school. Class of '92! I couldn't believe I found a sample of Request Video. That was so cool! I've googled Gia and not found much info about her. She seems to have fallen off the map completely. The best I could find was a synopsis that Gia is out of radio and now lives in New Mexico. Do you know what happened to Gia? Thanks again for all the cool memories you're keeping alive. There are those of us that get really nostalgic and appreciate it!
gia is currently happily working out of the spotlight as a label consultant. she's actually the one who informed me of these old request video clips on youtube, so you might get a little satisfaction out of knowing she's seen the tributes.
Gia DeSantis could of been a pornstar for all we know :) shes so sexy. I always thought she kinda resembles Tori Welles :) haha

Gia DeSantis (Clark) was a hottie.
That entire studio was about as big as a closet.
iwillfightyou 2 years ago
She was hot. I watched the show for her when I was in college. Is she married? Did her face melt? Is she fat with 40 kids? A homeless lesbian?
cagwa 2 years ago 3
She is married and lives in New Mexico now.
