If your so smart please let us know where in the Constitution it gives power to federal government to provide health care. They can regulate under inter-state commerce clause but I don't see where the can provide. If you know where it is please share.
The Preamble to the USA Constitution includes among other thing a promise, "in Order to form a more perfect Union" to "promote the general Welfare" of the people.
While there are many Consitutional scholars out there to debate just this phrase, we are out screaming and kicking about just a piece of it becoming a reality.
And please, give Mr. Hedrick the respect he deserves for his service to our country.
But the Preamble is spelled out as in whole it reads"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." Which it is Constitutional to amend the Constitution to allow for health but that isn't what is being proposed.
As to the Welfare in whole it reads"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;" then goes into detail as to what the power of Congress is. Which doesn't include being a health care provider.
And just add the Tenth Amendment reads "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." So lets not look at the title of powers given to make up some power congress doesn't have. And look at the power they do have, if we think congress should provide public care respect the Constitution and Amend it, don't try to change the meaning.
