i seen em both and i think they are actually equally great....they improved on some of the dead spots in the movie and gave her a smartass sense of humor that i thought was cool... oh and not to mention the cool ass cafe racer motorcycles that they put in the american version... cant wait for the next american on
Noomi Rapace IS The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. I read all three books, and I can't imagine ANY other actor playing this part than she. She is just OUTSTANDING. I loved this character, and Noomi Rapace nailed every nuance of who she was and and how she coped with injustice, stupidity, and prejudice. I won't watch a remake, because it couldn't possibly be as good as the original.
@1laughinggravy It isn't a remake. You people can't get it through your thick skulls. Yes it is the same story and same characters, but it is simply an American adaptation of the original novel. Not a remake of the Swedish film. Refusing to give it a chance is ignorant and unfair to the very talented artists involved. If you love the story, you should give it a chance. The character wasn't written for Noomi. She nailed it, yes. But that doesn't mean she's the only person who can do it well.
@Lukestar1991 Normally I would agree, but Fincher is a brilliant director, and I am sure he can make the American version justice. However I would prefer him and any other director to make original movies, not remakes
Niels' movie, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is brilliant. Amazing. A perfect interpretation of the book. Noomi Rapace gives the best, most chilling, unforgettable and flawless performance as Lisbeth. She is truly incredible. I love the entire Swedish cast, especially Michael Nyqvist, and think Niels did a superb job. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Bravo.
The best I think with this movies is that they made them 3h films, all of them and then cut them for cinema. But Swedish TV were allowd to broadcast the 3h movies =D
I saw the first hour of this film, stopped watching it. But the only reason I stopped watching it was because I instantly wanted to go out and read the book. I bought the book a week ago and haven't been able to put it down since I got it.
The last book I can remember reading over 100 pages in a day in (like I did yesterday with "Dragon Tattoo") was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This book grabbed me and wouldn't let me go, and I'll definitely be finishing the movie after I'm done
@JPM2875 ,yes i agree ,i saw the film and had to have the trigology,i bought the books and read the 2nd and 3rd each 1 week each.absolutely great writting and character development .............it is great to find a story that that u cant figure out the ending.
and yes, i think the film succeded in every way. The books are brilliant, and the first film, the only one i have seen yet, is also brilliant. Noomi Rapace, unfortunately does not want to work on the US version of the film, and her role as Salander was an absolutely defining role, almost too great to try to copy or re-interpret.

Fuck the US version. What gives them the right to steal other people's work and ideas and make it commercial and mediocre???

She should have been nominated
in my opinion Nioomi Rapace is a rare actor who excels in every
field of acting that most actors, even some who are considered the best, can not achieve.
