  • why is he in quarantine

  • That was great, rhythm of the poem was perfect!

  • I wanna be able to watch this in HD again! :(

  • man, what a great use of your quarantine time... plus you preach a lit of good things.

good on yer mate, for staying positive

  • Your awesome man! stay strong

  • just starting my TB 9-month treatment. Wish me luck

  • i just love you! you are adorable, funny, talented and make me laugh!

if ever coming to chicago i must know!

  • Im so glad your out of quarantine and all better :) Well done with everything... Supsies bro

  • The best part of this is when he walks from behind the drip stand like when Barkley runs behind the tree in sesame street

  • I've watched this video about 7 times in a row and it still ceases to impress me. I can't imagine what it was like to be in quarantine for that long, let alone having to return to life where you left off. In all honesty i have had nightmares of the idea. Great vid, great music, great lyrics

  • Mate this is fucking sick! i cant believe you dont have a million views on this video.... hope you're living strong, living well, living long!

  • Amazing Mate

  • Was this a song?

  • i love this video: I LOVE YOU! your sooo inspiring... Never give up mate (: good job x

  • How can 39 people dislike this?

  • So damn inspiring! Thanks dude! love u

  • Amazing story!

  • my last name is Van Vuuren too i typed my name in and you came up haha

  • Wow. I hope all is well with you, much love from Canada.

  • Are you dutch? Because your name is 100% dutch :P

  • oh shit he rappin

  • wow previous dude didnt listen to the text sung in the song huh? well he´s loss.

  • that must be the worst crap I've seen in a really long time. Your story is inspiring, and don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't see you suffering, but when you make a video like that you just doesn't get the true emotions in it. Man, you should tell that story without the poem and without the ridiculous video effects. I can't take you or the video seriously.

  • nice tats :)

  • Did this make it in the movie? It hasn't played anywhere near Portland OR yet.... I always thought this was a beautiful short and kept it in my favorites.

  • This guy is amazing.. He is cute and sick and still has the outlook like no one else

  • this poem describes how i feel everyday, but without the disease. :(

  • i felt as if i was listening to eminem :)

  • perfect rhymes :)

  • You sir, are a poet, an inspiration.

  • @ChristiaanVanVuuren Did you really spend 180 days in the hospital?

  • what will i do when life confronts me just as it confronted you? will i be as strong as you are? nice video... very compelling once again... you did it..

  • this is saving my life right now, not urgency but hard era or errors or both. Dude very deep. fan of the fully well rapper.

  • 36 people are driving the monkey to the airport.

  • thanks

  • i feel bad for you :( im sorry you had to go through that

  • hot

  • i would have gone totally insane, just the constantly being alone for that long would be insanely hard. im glad you find a great way to cope with it and pass your time. love all the videos.

  • Did you change the name of this video?

  • @will2679 Yeah I had... But I just changed it again too. So maybe not.

  • 180 days in hospital, I barely lasted 50 days in hospital when i had heart failure.

  • This is amazing, it is more motivating then Eminem - Till I Collapse

And I'm not kidding, I'm dead serious.

  • I couldn't live 180 days in a hospital.

  • Do you think i could get a copy of that background music?!

  • Ur are a stunning illustration of whats great about humanity from ur abitly to laugh, good willed, in the face of adversity to being able to use ur restriction from the outside world as inspration to explore it however u can, both internally thru ur own being and by connecting to millions on the web. U talk rightly about ur quarantine being for the protection of those outside living free lives, but u should also know that by sharing the experience of ur sacrifice, u've given us an amazing gift.

  • Hi dude, I'm 19 years old boy from Italy. I had a kidney failure at 12 and i've be in dyalisis (is that the english word?) for one year before the transplant. Those bad things are really long gone but I still feel the presence of them under my skin, like they built the foundation of the young man I am today. I also feel sorry for all the times I use my coindition as an excuse and I don't respect myself, and my body, Keep being strong, beautiful (I'm gay and I can really say that!) and smart. bye

  • i love the background music in this video!!! and of course the poem you wrote!!! where did you get the music from?!?!?

  • @thewalldivision Hello mate... thanks, I'm glad you like it. I composed the music on logic.

  • Wow, you're such an amazingly strong and wonderful human being, so much respect for you. I hope everything is well for you!

    - Love, your friendly Canadian pal!

  • narcisist

  • You sir, are a heroLAD

  • I watched this video 5 times, and am about to again. You, sir, are a strong being, as well as brilliant. I was isolated for 120 days, many days I felt like I wouldn't see it through. It is always good to find ways to occupy your time. I had books, and math. They became my friends and I often times found myself thinking in dialog. I am glad you are better, I am very glad you kept strong. Thank you for bring this to my life, it always reminds me it could be worse. It also reminds me to stay strong

  • you are amazing!!! I spent 13 days in hospital and that was hard enough - I can't imagine how hard that would have been for you.

  • I was mad for not seing a picture from this video in life in a day film :(

i don't even count how many times i've watched this video. it's simply amazing ! keep up with your exeptional work !

want to speek up about life in a french college in Canada ? :)

  • Not only was he hot but this video was also entertaining and well done. Awesome.

  • Incredible story and video. Wonderful that you made something creative out of something that must have been an agonizing experience. Can't imagine being in quarantine for so long.

Glad I found your channel through looking for "Life in a day". Will check out your other videos. Hope you're happily traveling again.

    - Luci

  • Maybe in order to understand mankind we have to look at that word itself. MANKIND. Basically, it's made up of two separate words "mank" and "ind." What do these words mean? It's a mystery and that's why so is mankind.

  • I've watch countless of videos on youtube. This is the one video that manage to make me subscribe and worth leaving a comment on.

Mate, this video or your condition may be long due, but the emotion spoken is perpetual.

Would you have discover this talent of yours without your condition?

What doesnt kill you, simply make you discern.

  • @momentes TruDat! this guy is a true role model, not with the whole condition, but my morel is that you can be happy in almost any situation! ;) keep goin strong Christiaan.

  • your an inspiration to us all :)

  • Holy crap man... you were only meant to be in there for a few weeks weren't you? I mean that's mad for a small room... but 180 days?? that's fkn mental :O glad you're okay now anyways :)

  • This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

  • @TheOhEaghra P.S. Thank you.

  • That's really beautiful. You've entered into the best kind of living, which is the kind that's looked death in the eye. Its really good to see you living it up, but remember to take a little time just to chill out and to just be. Otherwise life will tire you out :)

  • Je bent zo mooi.

  • great job on the video man!

deep shit man, it takes a creative genius to stay entertained and positive after going through what you have.

    props <3

  • your videos are unreal mate! i did see you on the news a few times but never watched them all till now awesome stuff! my vids just made our local news as well pong geek nbn your stuff is in a different league to mine tho. Hope your feeling better .

  • @crimvision Thanks mate. I just watched a couple of your pong videos. They are awesome! I've subbed. Keep em coming mate!

  • This particular video is a huge inspiration to me and reminds to enjoy the little things and to not take things for granted. I truly enjoy the other videos such as F*uck You, I'm A Ukulele, but this gives a more serious spin to your time in hospital. I saw the other video like this one about Life in a Day and I truly agree, You should dance wherever and whenever you want.

  • @TheHighFiveSinner Cheers mate... This was the first kind of serious video that I did, because I wanted to kind of capture the way my stay was... sort of really confined, but also how I was able to escape the 3x4m by creating and taking my mind elsewhere... It's deeper than the others.

  • Great lyrics! I could not help myself but staring at you thinking how it might felt being trapped in the hospital room for such a handsome talented and well-spirited man. I think I would go totally mad.

  • @tiptop0809 It was a long 187 days in total, but I learnt a lot about myself and have had some great things happen since then, which wouldn't have happened otherwise... I don't feel any negativity towards my experience... Instead I feel that I learnt a lot from it.

  • @CrazeeGiant Thanks very much for writing. Sorry to hear about your dramas, but I hope that everything is going okay with your treatment. Even if it's not, I hope that you are staying strong in the mind! And positive and all that shit! It's nice to hear that you are getting some assistance from the good stuff :) Does the medical grade weed ever make you depressed?

  • This is so incredible and inspiring, I wish you all the best. x

  • Brilliant

  • Dude, you're legitimately the coolest guy on youtube.

  • I just love YT advertisements, every time we learn to ignore them YT would discover some different way of shoving them down every1 else throat. If u will now allow me to predict the next advertisement mutation...See that "Advertisement" line in the lower left corner? Its going to disappear, that way once you start watching a video, you wont be able to tell whether its your desired video or just another advertisement.

  • This is breathtaking. I hope you get better.

  • Great video and soundtrack, your hot as hell. Keep up the good work.

  • @otterboi26 Hahaha... Thanks!

  • Hi Cris! As always your amazing videos peopl doing across the world reflect on itself. With love of Juliana Brazilian friend

  • @avalandra Thanks for your kind words, it's nice to hear that... I hope that everything is going well for you over there in Brazil! Give some girls a hug for me!... Now hold them. Yes. Wonderful.

  • Hi Cris! As always your amazing videos peopl doing across the world reflect on itself. I am happy to know that we left the hospital and its strength has been the inspiration for me to fight my fears and have the courage to face challenges. Congratulations and thank you! With love of Juliana Brazilian friend

  • This is great stuff!

  • I wanna make love to this video.

  • @kalle645 Then make love to it. But make sure you clean up your computer screen afterwards.

  • Probably one of the best videos I've ever seen in YouTube. I sort if want to cry but can't tell if it's a joke. I'll cry anyways.

  • @MJMurillo This video is the first video that I did, that isn't a joke. All my other videos were jokey, but this is supposed to be a more serious look at my experience in hospital, the situation I was in, and sort of capture the way I felt by the end of it. It was really weird, that JUST after I made this vid, I found out that I could go home again.

  • Man I'm glad you're doing well now, I was quarantined a couple of weeks with a strange type of dengue fever 5 years ago. I cant imagine going through that for the time you did and staying sane, specially with the kind of food they serve there ;) and those nurses sticking needles in ya everyday. I hate needles. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos, I wish you more success in the future.

  • @gobyhomar Thanks! Dengue fever is getting more and more hectic! They are starting to find gnarly drug resistant versions of it too now... I didn't really like needles either (apart from tatts) but now they don't bother me at all... It's been a while since I've been out of hospital, but while I was there I had an intravenous line that lived in my arm all the time, and had needles almost every day for blood tests and stuff, and since I've been out I still have shots on almost a weekly basis...

  • 1) Hold your breath.

    2) Copy all of these steps.

    3) Go to two other video.

    4) Paste it in the comments.

If you can do all of this without breathing you're a good pot smoker

  • This video actually made me want to listen to the video AND actually watch it. Nice.. got me attracted hard.

  • @muhatashim That's good I think. Two senses at the same time is good.

  • Brilliant videos mate , but what put you in isolation ?

  • @karambaden tb ;)

  • @karambaden I am no longer currently isolated, but at the time it was for a rare case of Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculoses.

  • You represent the true meaning of the Australian spirit. Thanks for all you videos, they are awesome.

  • @zyx321123abc WHART

  • @zyx321123abc Thanks for the positive feedback and Aussie support!

  • it gives me goose bumps every time I see it, amazing video, simply the best

  • you make me feel happy about life, really good use of the surroundings around you:) also what was wrong with you?:O

  • @retardedpenguin95 I was placed in isolation in hospital for Multi-Drug Resistant TB, which had caused a large cavity in my right lung, and started to spread around my chest. It was pretty heavily contagious at the time, so I had to be kept air-tight.

  • he looks like cm punk!

  • you look like an actor from 'lost' :)

  • Fockin brilljant mate had a friend just in the same situation started rappin aswell and it shows what you can do and achieve when you express yourself tru music

    respect from Utrecht, Holland!

  • @TheLinguistable I LOVE TEXAS!!! Spent some time in Dallas, Austin and San Marcos... I am totally going back to Austin again one day.

  • @abusszz No worries man, it's so rad that people can enjoy this stuff from all over the world. Say hi to your mates in Mexico for me! It will be exciting to see the actual finished version of the World in a Day film that is premiering at Sundance.

  • 1:17

HOLY SHIT I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT DID THAT xD.

Just found your channel man, this stuff is brilliant, you are a freaking inspiration.

  • Chistiaan, this is so fantastic. Your last line that today you met yourself 'face to face', I just hope you saw the same beautiful soul that I saw in your eyes in this video. You are an amazing human being and I wish you complete peace. You will find this when you recognise your own true beauty, I am sure. I am about to make a complete career change and enter nursing school, and your video reminds me of all the reasons I want to do this - THANK YOU for that inspiration and best of luck. M

  • haha, Hey man, im sure many people have already told you this, but....your aweome! Be strong and continue using your creativity. I dont know if you believe in God but...Ill keep you in my prayers, and a tip, try reading the Bible, its fascinating. Peace out.

  • Truly inspirational. Just discovered this and realized that yes, we have a good life. So easy to loose sight of that, until someone like you reminds us. Thank you for this.

  • This was brilliant. Bravo!
