  • That is an incredible picture there because you see how strong modern gran prix car are...

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Imagine that on a modern F1-race. You would have 5 damaged cars and 10 investigations because of unsave driving.

  • salut gilles!

  • That's a great spot from James Hunt, he instantly put his finger on exactly what had happened to Villeneuve - comes from his vast experience. A great commentator.

  • @wahaya2 Agree!

  • los pilotos d ahora son todos putos.grande gilles

  • Look at 2:54 . . Im surprised they didnt have Jackie Stewart down there giving it the ol' hello

  • @flipsidedogchop omfg, that's so "hilarious" ^^

  • The circuits were so amateur looking, a short metal barrier and spectators right behind it, they were hit by some of the shards of bodywork from the ferrari. Had to laugh at Murray's comment about the modern formula 1 car being so safe... 2 years later Villeneuve's car proved to be not so safe... RIP

  • yo no vi a nuvolari, pero este fue el mejor para mi sin dudas. hay pilotos que usan la calculadora o esperan que los demas rompan y unos pocos dispuestos a dejarlo todo. Villeneuve El Mas Grande

  • In '79 Ferrari and Scheckter won the title, with Gilles 2nd. In 1980 the car was a flop, true; in 1981 there were signs of improvement as Ferrari found their feet with turbo engines. 1982 would have had Gilles as World Champion if it wasnt for Zolder. Then Pironi could have won it, if it wasn't for Hockenheim. Even Tambay, who joined in mid season, could have won it, so superior was that car. On that evidence, I wouldn't say Ferrari had such dreadful cars throughout Gilles' short career.

  • @monkeywrench666 On the contrary. True, the 312T4 (1979; ugly but effective, mostly due to the power plant) and the 126C2 (1982) were good cars, The 312T5 was a disaster. The 126C (1981) was complete piece of junk. True it showed some improvement (mostly solving turbo lag) , but look at Pironi's results. Gilles was the only reason that car got near the podium; it was a mid pack car (like the 312T5) at best..

  • Villeneuve had a serious technical problem his whole F1 career...He was driving that Ferrari.

  • @SuperColossal33 In 1982 Ferrari (126 C2) had, by far, the best car and it's only because of tragedy that the title ended up with Williams and Rosberg (1 GP win throughout the whole season). Know your facts, pal.

  • @monkeywrench666

This video was 1980. For the majority of Gilles short career he was a contender in a car that had no business anywhere near the podium.

  • "Villeneuve does have a serious technical problem", haha, the only problem that he had, was that horrible but yet beautiful ferrari.

  • What a fantastic circuit this was... A blindeningly quick first part of the track (with the double right hander - wonder if they were taken at full throttle in the early 1980s) and then the tight twisty bit to the finish line.

    Thanks for the video!
