The unique thing is the only thing that changed was the name of the region but not the culture. But we are not saying that Northeastern Thai "isaan" are Lao.
@dapitbull79 Do you know what heritage means?Right now in northeastern Thailand those Thai ppl speak Lao and eat Lao food because they have Lao heritage.I'm not saying they are Lao as I know it offends many Thai ppl because you think you are better and look down on Lao (if you are Thai). When we all broke away from China we developed our own culture be it Lao, Thai, Pahma. The northeastern Thais in "Isaan" still practice Lao culture. And Khmer did not come from China, shows how much you know.
@dapitbull79 All "Tai" ppl came from China and are Chinese descent.Tai and Thai are not the same thing by the way.But as far as culture Lao culture is no longer the same as Chinese, same as Thai, or Burmese.I don't think of Isaan ppl as Lao I just know they speak my language nor do I think of Thais as my relatives because none of you Thais mean anything to me.So don't sit there and try to argue about something silly when I'm just giving you the facts.
Jonas origin is swedish.. got 2 be proud.. even though i'm just half swedish/thai ;) My suster showed me a consert of him when i was about 18 and I WAS IMPRESSED!!
What a perfect duet! Their voices complement each other so much...Thank you, Kristy & Jonas for your wonderful contribution to the Thai culture...I'm so proud to be Thai! Khop Khun Maak Maak! Sawatdi Khrap!!
@dapitbull79 Oh no doubt - however, I was referring to the context of what they were singing. I don't care either way - apparently that's what the song was about (if my Lao serves me correctly). Since the style of the song is considered 'country Thai' - the musical origin is considered LAO since that is there mainstream style of music. A little history lesson there for you.
@ntvien00 well, i'm no expert but i believe it more of a Isaan origin, But what do i know.. My sister always says it's Isaan music, but of course when i eat sticky rice she calls me Isaan too ;)
@dapitbull79 The Isan province was annexed into Thailand as a treaty with the French in the late 1800s. It was a part of Laos up until then. The people living in that area are Lao, they speak Lao, and everything culturally is Lao. However, with that said, I think it's important for Thai/Lao to recognize their common ancestry whether Thai or Lao like it or not. I know some Thai are offended at the notion that they just might share a common ancestry with 'Lao' - but hey, history speaks for itself
@ntvien00 yep, u r right, my friend... i'm sorry for arguing bout stupid thing.. But for exempel: u can't say that Califonia is Mexico coz it was Mexican until the 17-18th and some parts still speak spanish and eat Mexican and sing spanish.. I know not the real same but Issan is Thailand even though they were Lao and they were threated badly for many many years.. But you find Isaan people all over thailand as a people of thailand NOT Laos
@dapitbull79 Yes Isaan ppl are from Thailand but you cannot deny they are of Lao heritage, even the Bangcock ppl have Lao heritage, many even have Khmer in them that's why I think there are many Thai that have darker skin cuz Khmer have darker skin.
@ntvien00 oki truce my friend.. u don't listen to it.. but i think u should includ a couple of songs into ur MP3 player ;) i think u good man and i believe with good men it will be a better world.. Buddha bless to u and ur family..
@dapitbull79 Reading your "debate" with the other Lao person it seems you are self righteous. You need to understand the difference between nationality, culture, descendant, and heritage.Northeastern Thais inherited and practice Lao culture because they were descendant of Lao ppl who created a culture of their own after they left China.Just like when you Thais broke away from us and changed up the Lao language to your own accent.
The unique thing is the only thing that changed was the name of the region but not the culture. But we are not saying that Northeastern Thai "isaan" are Lao.

oh yeah many Thais would rather favor being mixed Chinese than Lao.

@beshnola well if you wanna talk heritage we could say that there are no thai/lao/burmanese or khmer coz all of our ancestors came from China

Yes Isaan ppl are Thai now even though they are of Lao descent.

But many ppl of Lao descent in northeastern Thailand are now mixed with Khmer hence the darker skin for many of them.

@dapitbull79 ."Isaan" is a phrase coined to hide identity of Lao ppl in Thailand.

@ntvien00 besides, this is thai folk music, by the people for the people.. i'm happy it reached out beyond the borders, coz this is great music..

hmmm? it's a music video, not a live concert....there's no such thing as not lip syncing when you film a music video, as far as I know.
