Your pix are OUTSTANDING...! Cpl A.K. Fox 2/12 ....The Kuwaiti Boarder Night Raiders...! Mobile Scud Destroyers....! Iraqi Regiment Annihilators...! Death Dealers in Whole Sale not Retail....! Outta 3MARDIV attached to 1MARDIV for the sole purpose in Search and Destroy tactics...and I thought we were the only Fox out there...! You guys are OUTSTANDING! Wish we could've met up...!
Cool. Didn't know that. Yeah, just like most jobs - what you get in school just gets your feet wet. Funny how it includes a lot of stuff you ignore or never use.
Honestly though, just being a good Marine will prepare you to succeed in any civilian career that you ultimately pursue. I mean, civilian workers are so crappy these days, your respect for authority, work ethic and "will do" attitude will make you stand out and shine like a 100K Diamond in a pile of 1oz marbles. I have gotten maximum raises and excellent evals every year in every job I've ever worked since getting out of the Corps in 1994.
I will say that what we learned in the 3 month course at Aberdeen combined with our experience working on weapons certainly gave us a great foundation for a career as a gunsmith, but, it would still take some type of formal civilian training or apprenticeship to prepare you to work in that field after your time in the Corps.
Man, it's been so long since I went to Small Arms Repair School in Aberdeen Provign Grounds Maryland (It's and Army Base) That I'm not sure I could answer your question accurately. I mean, I graduated from there in 1988. I've no idea what the program is like now.
im wanting to be an armorer so i can get some trade out of the marines when i get out but i also want to get in the grass a little and play grunt and posible see combat. it looks like you had a lota fun.
I was over there, too. I was a grunt with 2/7 81mm Mortar Platoon (Task Force Grizzly). Those pics of yours sure bring back some memories! Our mortar tubes didn't have the range as your guns, but we were shooting rounds right into the Iraqi trenches! Lots of Iraqi KIA. Thanks and Semper Fi!
Great vid, thanks for sharing! I was in Desert Storm too..800th Military Police Brigade, attached to MARCENT, we were the Army MP's who picked up the Iraqi prisoners you "devil-dogs" captured. Some of the photos really bring back memories!!
SEMPER FI MARINE! Job Well Done. I would like to thank you for you service to our Great Nation and all that call her home. I too was down range during Storm, although serving in a different branch. Even so; we shall ALWAYS be Brothers At Arms. Welcome home brother.
Hi Gernansky, Desert Storm guys are some of the finest Marines ever to have worn uniform. Just wondering, did you meet any Australian troops during Desert Storm?
DVincent Thanks. I spent a few weeks working on that vid in my spare time. Probably put about 20 hours of work into it. By the end, my family was ill from listenning to bits and pieces of the same song being played over and over. LOL.
Bike. No I did not. Might have happened after we passed through.
Where'd you get your pic from? You take it yourself?
Hey, Gern...did you paint "I love USA" in red on the side of that white car you are standing on? I have a photo of it with that painted on it in my office.
God Bless our past and current troops, you make me proud to be American!!! Thank You for sending this video !!!!! I love the music, got me pumped up !!! Lori
