  • @StAndAl0neCompl3x I was wondering.. During BJJ, there's this one CERTAIN kid that whenever he goes for a takedown, I sprawl easily, but he always gets accidentally tagged by my knee, and it's ONLY him that it happens with.. Is it me on how I do my sprawl or is it him? O.o you seem to know more about this stuff so yeah haha

  • I think the sprawl shown here is inneffective. The sprawler should be driving his hips out and having his legs farther back (if you butt is in the air, the person shooting can just drive through). The underhook will help with that, but it is better to drive your hips forward aswell.

    Cheers.

  • 139K videos.....Jesus man don't you get tired?

  • @kleanu93 expert village. not this one guy

  • im in a mma camp im 16 6'0 180 and almost no body fat (im ripped ;)) but i get my ass beat every time when it goes to the ground what would be the best sprawl for a double leg takedown (my weakness)

  • @ddog0804 i think first u should watch 'never back down' and watch how they prevent takedowns, its a movie. secondly, i think if they try goin for ur legs, u should try grabbing them near the waist and put them down, nd finish of the fihgt. sory if this aint much help :)

  • teabag lol

  • my refresh button just sprawled that advert.

  • ??? whats the point-where is the picture

  • @suzijaja to stop a takedown ya dingleberry

  • @suzijaja you're supposed to click the button that says "cc"

  • @xSugahighsnipa thanks a lot sorry im not very smart lol

  • ok, so why wouldn't you, as the defender, simply step to the side, so you only have to deal with one arm, then break the grip when/if it comes? I still say MMA/wrestling is for slow people.

  • @neutrino78x you obviously dont fight do you?

  • @AUgold15 lol i dont think he does cuz that may hav been the dumbest thing ive heard today so far

  • @neutrino78x You've obviously never had to defend a wrestling shot; its nice and comfortable to speculate from a computer chair isn't it. Wrestlers are some of the quickest and most explosive athletes in the world; hell you're a computer jockey, just look up some Olympic freestyle wrestling; it may change your mind.

  • @RebelWrestler45 I did TKD for two years...I've never seen an "explosive" wrestler. MMA wrestler jock vs Bruce Lee. I think BL will win. ((waving the flag of real martial arts))

  • @neutrino78x in other words, your experience in TKD proves you've never grappled or sparred with any type of wrestler, much less a decorated folkstyle, freestyle, or greco wrestler. MMA wrestler jock vs Bruce Lee= Bruce will get taken to the ground immediately; no subs defense, no sprawl, no chance. (waving the flag of realistic, effective martial arts)

  • @RebelWrestler45 Bruce would just kick the guy in the head when he "takes a shot", that or flip him over and land him on his back. BL kicked so fast that 24 frames per second could not capture it. wrestling is NOT effective against someone who is quick and/or skilled. It is especially not effective against someone who outweighs you by a lot or with multiple attackers.

  • @neutrino78x a headkick attempt just makes the takedown that much easier to complete, a knee, in certain situations can be a useful counter strike to a takedown, but its still not a high percentage technique. Wrestling is proven effective against skilled and quick fighters; unless you think guys like Thiago Alves, Kid Yamamoto, Belfort, Faber, and Manhoef are slow fighters with bad striking skills.

  • @RebelWrestler45 this is bruce lee we're talking about, so it would be a head kick success, not attempt. Bruce Lee didn't attempt kicks. and I haven't seen MMA "proven" against non-MMA people....let's see MMA jock vs Steven Seagal, who is 9th Dan Aikido.

  • @neutrino78x Exactly, Bruce Lee; a movie star and martial arts innovator; not a fighter. Steven Seagal; actor, who's never been in a legitimate fight. Plus, aikido is useless; there is a reason you only see demos of aikido, because applying said techniques in a live combat situation is just not possible. Mixed martial arts is not a fighting style, its an idea; an amalgamation of the most effective techniques of hand to hand combat, and the fact is certain styles and techniques aren't effective.

  • @RebelWrestler45 Bruce lee was a fighter in fact his parent sent him too america because he got in over 194 street fights to the point were the local police threatened to arrest him if he fought again gangs ran the neighborhood he lgrew up in. rad up first beotch

  • @kaliedoscopesharinga First of all, that's all heresay; but even if it is true, beating up some street thugs does not make you a skilled fighter. Kimbo Slice has several documented 'street fights', was supposedly undefeated in hundreds of street fights, and he's been systematically assraped by unranked fighters in professional MMA. In addition, out of all the hundreds of hours of training footage and demos that people have of Bruce Lee, there is yet a single clip to surface of him live sparring

  • @RebelWrestler45 Its was the 1950's and 60's and do you know what heressy is its betraying your country. also he was questioned in his community in china for training white people in his gym so he had to fight a trained fighter from the place h used to train that DIDINT train non chinese he won, needles to say. i see what your saying BUT you are wrong.

  • @kaliedoscopesharinga Firstly, heressy isn't a word; heresy is defined as willful contradiction of established doctrine. Hearsay (I misspelled it in my previous post) is an item of idle or unverified information or gossip. Bruce did compete in some 'full contact' tournaments, full contact as being defined as no punches to the face, no knees or elbows of any kind, no clinch, no takedowns, no chokes, joint locks, or other submissions, no......well, you get the picture.

  • @neutrino78x-Actually Bruce Lee didn't like to use headkicks. One of the main principals of JKD is no high kicks.

  • @RebelWrestler45-And in JKD there are sprawls, yes Bruce Lee knew what a sprawl was and in certain situations knew how to get off his back and even taught a lot of submission and grappling control techniques; especially in the clinch. An average MMA wrestler jock would probably get knocked out by Bruce Lee. His skill level in general is far above any average person. There is someone who was holding a focus mitt for Bruce Lee's straight lead and had their arm broken as a result.

  • @neutrino78x

    Lol.

  • its funny how everyone that comments on these videos always has to brag about there fights in the past..

  • @ 805krunk ... haha true,,, and you knotice they dont post any videos ether haha

  • Stand your an idiot street fighting doesnt mean jack in mma. Look at kimbo he was a good street fighter has the "killer instinct" you so claim that wins fights. He got destroyed because he had no technique which is what wins fights. Street fighting wins street fights not mma. Learn the facts when you try to step in the octagon

  • for anyone thinking this is hard whats funny is its really just natural lol make sure when u sprawl you push the head down and try to get from in front of him... while pushing the head down spin to the side and u will have control

  • I respect MMA as sport, in a real fight when my opponent comes to take me down, i´ll fake his face w my knee, or fuck his eyes w fingers, so simple like that..!!

Ok it works in cage cause of its rules..!!

    Good job..!!

  • I replied to your other comment on the defending punches video....I agree with you and I also do wing chun

  • Kneeing someone in the face as they shoot in on you is much easier said than done. There's a lot of timing involved to get it just right, therefore it might not always work. Any well-rounded fighter worth his salt wouldn't want to rely on one method of defense against a given attack--hence cross training and the beauty of MMA. Sure, there are rules--but if you can beat someone in the cage, imagine what you could do to them without those rules.

  • I agree StAndAl0neCompl3x.

  • I agree, I'm sick of saying this to people. People think that just because there are rules in MMA, that you would somehow feel compelled to stick to those rules if you were in a real fight.

  • @b0ris360. Yeah, I completely understand the whole "you fight how you train" philosophy but training and fighting are also two completely different contexts. My older brother, who did 7yrs in prison and has plenty of experience in street fights has always claimed that your "killer instinct" is what helps you win a fight. I think that, in combination with skills learned through regular training, make for a deadly fighter. You don't need that killer instinct in a gym necessarily, but in a

  • real fight, you do, and I think that's what makes the difference and allows you to toss those rules out the window in a real altercation.

  • ya i think they guy who did "7 years in prison" is the guy to take advice from.

  • thats so dirty man...nice work

  • Remember that if your knee misses, he'll have a much easier time taking you down, since you're standing on one leg. It's risky to go for the knee. BTW, knees to the face are allowed in mma.

  • i love the "oh but i can gouge his eyes out" or "yeah but i could grab his nuts from here" comments.

you do either of the things you said without sprawling and you will still end up on your back.

  • @Arcturistheballer I remember in '03 I got into street fight and dude grabbed my balls through my jeans as I was setting up a guillotine choke. He couldn't get a good grip because of the think jeans, he was squeezing and I was squeezing hia arteries shut.. I won the fight. My dick wasn't hurting much after wards. My adrenaline was numbing my body, his lack of 02 was numbing his brain.

  • @Arcturistheballer yea, with the other guy ready to kill you for tryin to gouge his eyes!

  • yeah, in case you didn't read, this is for cage fighting and MMA, not for a street fight.

  • hips forward feet sideways.

  • feet should be facing sideways this is wrong

  • q buena esta bien esta tecnica

  • When I sprawl, instead of putting my arms underneath the opponent, I kind of jam them on either side of their neck... Basically, I sprawl with a Muay Thai Clinch.

Is there any reason I shouldn't do it that way?

  • Unless you have the clinch in really deep, and you know how to clinch, youll be ok if your opponent wants to stand. But if you want to take it to the ground from there, or your opponent wants to, you need to do it how they instructed on this video so you have control of their arms, which means more ground control, it all comes down on how you want to fight

  • That is good too. Just different techniques. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

  • Not a bad idea, but you wouldn't be allowed to knee him in the head in mma. It would also be harder to put weight on them. but not a bad idea

  • yes because you sleep with men.....

  • I can't help myself. Their man-smell is just so intoxicating. :(

  • Instead of staying on his toes, he needs to land on the blades of his feet. If the opponent can drive through it is easier to slide across the floor on the inside blades of the feet.

  • I'm glad I was redfreshed on this move. I saw a wrestler do this to someone out of the ring.

I know its not wrestling though.

  • show us how you cirlce outta him

  • what?

  • the guy could nee em in the face too.

  • If their knees are on the mat, you can't knee them in the head for an mma fight. But in a street fight, do anything lol.

  • cool... :)

  • this helps me alot more when just grappling, but i find it easier to spread my legs out a little more. i feel more stable and that my center of gravity is better.

  • its better to keep the legs colser so you can relese more force

  • if you keep your legs close they can grab your leg/legs for a takedown against you, and if you put too much power in one spot it makes you clumsy and easy for your opponent to control you

  • Thats a shitty double leg. He needs to plant his lead foot in between the legs and then drive on his toes. That way if he sprawls, he can still drive and lift up and take him down. NEVER go to your knees.

  • Even if it isn't wrestling (which im fully aware of) you dont wont to be on bottom. Maybe thats my personal opinion. Im an amateur MMA fighter. I understand you can't get pinned but still if you shoot for a takedown you still dont want to get buried. So you should shut the fuck up and think about what you're saying when you say it.

  • If you shot in like you just said, you'd get caught and knocked the fuck out. You should setup your shot with punches/kicks etc.

  • yeah, sorry, there's actually a law against swearing, kids could see that, is that something you want kids to see?

  • Fuck yeah!

  • well most people wouldn't want to be on the bottom unless you are BJJ. which makes you deadly from any position, the bottom has a lot of options towards submission if you know what your doing. For Example: triangle hold, armbar, etc.

that's why you have to practice working out of the bottom you never want to get stuck.

  • It's more uncomfortable for the bottom guy if he isn't stretched out properly :o

  • This is a great video. Tall people make good sprawlers too

  • great video for basic mma. Keep up the good work and f@#k them player haters out their who bad mouth vidoes. Fuck Them!!

  • i think hes not going for the guillotine cause when u shoot u have your head against there chest and not on their side to avoid a guillotine

  • Exactly! I try to put my forehead into the gut. Keeping your head nice and centered is so critical in MMA.

  • Guillotine choke from the shot... why don't more people try that? I must be missing something. His arms appear to be in perfect position

  • gotta weigh up the risk, yeah you could get the finish but if it doesn't work out you give up position because you have to pull guard to crank the guillotine.

Great vid aswell showing one of the fundamental moves in MMA. If you can't sprawl your in serious trouble

  • why would there be mroe advanced moves?

The video is called "BASIC mixed martial arts"

  • lmao seriously guys..read the title

  • this is very helpfull

  • get some more advanced moves on and ill be very impressed

  • Hello
