What should the police have done? They've already called for the fire and ambulance. Should they tap the innocent motorist on the shoulder and ask how their day has been going thus far? I like the Phoenix Police, but there isn't enough of you to be effective. Phoenix is the least policed city I have ever been in. It needs more police presence for sure, but it seems that City hall would rather the surrounding communities take up the slack.
We passed a proposition to hire more police officers. Right now, Phoenix is going through a hirring freeze. So after this year we will not be able to hire officers for a short time.
Phoenix is not supporting it's police officers very well. By the looks of it, the surrounding communities are doing a far better job of that, they have more! I guess police aren't all that important. In my mind, if you have a proper police force you save money by having less crime (and they need to do something about all the speeding, and agressive driving!). I guess any money a city may save by proper policing is hard to see, unlike the crime which is visible.

Bullshit. I've been in similar situations twice and both times I've been able to swerve to avoid a collision.
If the guy had enough time to move his foot to the brake petal he had enough time to swerve. Although this event was a tragedy, he had no excuse not to get out of the way.

What should the police have done? They've already called for the fire and ambulance. Should they tap the innocent motorist on the shoulder and ask how their day has been going thus far? They don't have the life saving equipment carried by an ambulance, nor the training to use it. All they can do is sit on their hands and wait for help to arrive.

they did check the white car...you just didn't see it because the camera quickly panned out and then cut away to a different camera angle. look a the cop at the very bottom of the scene walking over to the white car.

that was a diliberate move that he made. You can tell the white car did put on the brakes not that it helped at all. But the other guy definitely wanted to do what he did. God Bless the Innocent people that were killed maybe God will forgive the jerk who caused it. And The Police are and do take care of the victims of accidents regardless if you a felon or not.

Cops do care. They do check the cars to make sure that every one is okay. And DON"T EVERY BADMOUTH the Phoenix Police Department. We are one of the best forces in the Nation and we took home the 2nd place trophy for Honor Guard.

I like the Phoenix Police, but there isn't enough of you to be effective. Phoenix is the least policed city I have ever been in. It needs more police presence for sure, but it seems that City hall would rather the surrounding communities take up the slack.

We passed a proposition to hire more police officers. Right now, Phoenix is going through a hirring freeze. So after this year we will not be able to hire officers for a short time.

Phoenix is not supporting it's police officers very well. By the looks of it, the surrounding communities are doing a far better job of that, they have more! I guess police aren't all that important. In my mind, if you have a proper police force you save money by having less crime (and they need to do something about all the speeding, and agressive driving!). I guess any money a city may save by proper policing is hard to see, unlike the crime which is visible.
