Actually, the caracal used to be apart of the genus lynx but then was considered to be more closely related to house cats and was moved to the genus Felis and then, after more analysis of their DNA, skull and dental measurements they are in the genus Caracal which has 9 recognized subspecies. The closest living relative is considered to be the godlen cat.

I would disagree with the narrator though: caracals are not a species of lynx, they happen to have tufted ears and are nicknamed the "desert lynx" but that's about as close as they come to a true lynx (aside from both of the being felids)
