  • what anime character is on Jonny's guitar?

  • Can't find words to explain how much I love this song, purely amazing.

  • When I grow up i will have a child. I will show this video and i will tell him that the people said "the rock is dead"

  • @piojoramal awww ... this comment is si cute

  • Thom has great shoulders

  • GLORIOUS.

  • I've also viewed this footage dozens and dozens of times. IngDiddy is so right in his appraisal - It really does just get better every time. Complete in every sense - Vocals, guitars, cool bass and especially the drumming. Its almost TOO GOOD for a live performance. All hail Radiohead!!

  • You had me at "in the deepest ocean . . . "

  • This is like great sex in a song.

  • like this song very much.....i will sing it on Indonesian Radiohead Fans event in this thursday...and hoped i can sing it as well as thom's voice

  • Just a great song !!!

  • @2:05 Jool's face says it all.

    Woman is Cat Powers

  • My sunday morning song. It's wonderful!

  • @2:05 who is the woman with Jools? she looks on with envy....

  • bass in this in amazing - i always used to just listen to the guitars but wow...bass adds so much the way it dips in and out, and as Thom isn't singing many different notes it's the bass that's subtly giving the song more melody, genius (sorry for getting geeky about it)

  • 2:05 - it's a good job the camera only show Jools' top half, because he's masterbating to this song.

  • @5AU5AGEROLL

Ha Ha Ha! I just crapped my pants.

  • It's gotta be hard to be the band playing after Radiohead. I mean, after Radiohead you can't get any better.

  • top draw performance

  • @bmatt99 - sorry for your loss, I know how it feels to lose someone that you love. When my 36 year old little sister passed away unexpectedly in Los Angeles on August 8th, 2008, I had to confront my own mortality. This was harder than

  • This song is incredible, right Ed?

    Ed:YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  • 2:05 - Jools knows he's watching some God-tier shit right here.

  • GL following that !

  • I feel sorry for whoever had to follow this performance

  • there is nothing that they can't do with guitars

  • I always seem to find myself singing Ed's part.

  • the feeling never, never gets old and never will.

  • @bmatt99 cant take you serious sorry

  • @ThatZevGuy Who said it needs to be taken seriously? so mundane.

  • the usual band formula is 'Mediocre and The Scrubs'

crazy how five incredibly creative and talented musicians all land in the same band.

  • Just ten hours ago I was rushed to the hospital as my father was being revived from cardiac arrest. My sister was in the car with me, visibly shaken and pale when I turned to her and asked if I could put on a Radiohead song. This one was played, and for the first time, it didn't elude me. Every sound was vivid in my mind. The lyrics seemed to express what my dad couldn't: "Yeah everybody leaves, if they get the chance."

In the end, he didn't make it, but instead hit the bottom and escaped.

  • @bmatt99 You serious?

  • @bmatt99 Shit man, I'm sorry for that. Hope you're doing well. I've had some deaths in my family and I know it hurts.

  • @bmatt99 Very sorry to hear of your loss. I hope he found a better place. This is a very emotional song and probably my favorite song of theirs.

  • @bmatt99 After our mother died, at about 3am, I asked my younger sister if she minded me putting on a radiohead song. She said no. I put on 'True Love Waits'. After about a minute, she told me to turn that shit off, because it was making her cry more. So we got drunk and watched Family Guy instead. True story.

  • @bmatt99 Wow I had a similar experience with my cousin. On the way to the funeral parlour to identify the body this song was on. My love to you friend hope your moving on alright :)

  • @bmatt99 Radiohead killed your father? Cancer killed mine. :S

  • What a performance

  • MotherFN Fantastico!!!!!!!!!

  • Picked over by the worms and weird FISHES!!

  • urmmhhh? perhaps the best song on youtube? WOWOOOOOH!!!!!! yes i think im correct... live long, play the game or give up,.

  • I guess this is one of the greatest pleasures that you can have in your life.

  • i just cant put into words how much i like this song and radioheads whole catalogue

  • Been looking for a better album ever since 2007.

Nothing Compares .. SO Fucking Good!

  • I've listened to this song at least 200 times, it still gets better everytime. I think this is my favorite song of all time, and I'm not the type of person to say that easily. In fact I think this is the only song that I've ever called my favorite! Thom, Ed, Jonny, Phil, and Colin, thank you for the 20 years of music you guys gave us. I hope you never stop!

  • @IngDiddy sure :))

  • @IngDiddy I've been a Fan of Radiohead since there first album so its now 19 years later and still to this day if someone asked me what my favorite song is I couldn't tell you because, This is the only band I never memorized the names of really any of there songs because they are all really good. Yeah some are better then others but this is the only band I can say that about and I like a lot of other bands and can name my favorite songs for them just not radiohead I guess its just Weird Fishes..

  • quien dijo que no existe la perfección ?

  • @Maxdipieri ke cancion es hipnotizante..

  • Jools Holland is friggin hilarious.

  • In a Glastonbury performance of this song Jonny is wearing the same shirt Colin's wearing here!

  • @xjazzbox they probably share their clothing... After all, they're brothers... lol

    xD

  • i dont care much for the band but this song is better than most songs iv heard

  • By light-years, far and away the best band of the last decade-and-a-half-or-so.

  • what am i gonna do with my life now after having just seen that?

  • @losmaces it doesnt matter, after having just seen that :)

  • what a beautifull song with the orchester !!!

    thnxxx !!!

  • WHY ED SING HIS NAME??? :)

  • is Ed tall? or is Jonny just small? wow what a difference eh?

  • @MajorracoonStudios Ed is 6'5"

  • @ellisrose he's taller than that. I read somewhere that he's the tallest guitarrist in Rolling Stone's list

  • haha......another fag checks in.

  • @aquaskye Look, I'm guessing that you are about 8, guessing from the intelligence levels you display, but I promise that unless you have a serious mental deficiency you WILL look back on this in 4-6 years and be horribly embarrased. You won't mature immediately upon reading this, and will most certainly reply with another smattering of steaming shit, but one day hairs will start appearing on your triple chin, and your horribly shrunken balls will detach from your grossly overweight ass.

  • Ed O´biren = jack shepard from lost?

  • Well, I'm glad I'm not in the band stepping on that stage after this performance....

  • this performance is basic in the life of a radiohead fan

  • THERE IS NOT A BAND BETTER

  • I love how at the camera is on Johnny while he is making no sound as he is recording the harp like quality that comes at about 4:08 at the time! Just makes me feel weird watching that

  • The only song capable of making me cry.

  • @cpreston5 Fuck,,,,,Me!

  • Fucking Ed O'Brien Ladies and Gentlemen

  • This song could have been the single greatest song ever recorded if only the lyrics had said something.

Sure the song as it stands now creates an unbelievable feel; but just imagine how incredible this song would have been if Lennon, Dylan, Morrissey, or Weller had written the lyrics.

  • @PrincePurple The lyrics do say something, just because it is metaphorical does not mean it means nothing.

  • abstraction is as much a form of art as any, literality sometimes lacks imagination.

  • @PrincePurple .they do have a meaning. understand these lyrics is especially hard, he's obviusly using a metafhor, like if he was a little fish in the deep ocean, surrunded by danger. then you find something, a dream, a goal, that you want to follow. but afte some time, you get fed up, and want to leave it, but you can't , cuz you dedicated your life dreaming, and the dangers out of your shell are big, an unknown world

  • @etejuanete3 the sounds like heroin addiction to me.... and possible suicide through overdose. give it another listen.

  • Comment removed

  • ugh. man don't take this personally but I hate it when people forces the lyrics so EVERY song is about drugs. and suicide. Thom never wrote a suicide song, even if he DID write some dark stuff. but not in In Rainbows. maybe my interpretation isn't the best, but this is definitely not about suicide or heroin. bet so.

  • @etejuanete3 all good brother. we all love it just the same. cheers!

  • @etejuanete3 maybe i see it that way because it seemed perfectly fitting for my scenario.. given that i had survived my own attempts at it.... and it all seems perfectly clear to me. it could be about love as well... but the sentiments of escape at the end of the song hit me too personally. this is just my own personal opinion. i hope you dont blow your mind about my personal perspective of such a beautiful, haunting song...that we now both share in common. thank you for your sentiments... live.

  • @PrincePurple heroin addiction and suicide. it means more to more ppl thank you think.

  • Phil Selways drumming in this song is genious!

  • "And NOW, from utter brilliance, to complete garbage, ladies and gentlemen, Scouting For Girls"

  • @TheHaiiiJuan lol.

  • One of the two best songs from In Rainbows, easily one of their best five songs, and probably one of the best and most beautifulsongs ever written.

  • Now i can reast in peace

  • 24 trolls passed through here

  • There are no words to describe this amazing performance, really blows my mind.

  • Feel bad for the other bands who had to follow THAT up

  • holy fuck

  • Just fuck off!! That's taking the piss, Radiohead are spoilng us with that performance.

Incredible and thank you Thom and the boys.

  • Best song on the album

  • I clicked on "Dislike" accidently! I'll bet that all Radiohead "Dislikes" are accidental.

  • i dont think there is anyone that dislikes radiohead, just people like me that are envious i will never be that good

  • Gorgeous...

  • "Thanks very much boys, that's Radiohead! Big round of applause for Radiohead, everybody! OK, up next we have, uh......"

  • They somehow take the sum of what the equipment and the artist represent and get like 10 times more out of them. SO fucking good

  • absolutely fucking brilliant.......

  • Spiritual Orgasm/Arpeggi.

  • whos the band taht played before them?

  • 3:56 plants that bell 4:06 let's it ring. delightfully absurd.

  • Does anyone else think that Ed O'Briens performance makes this song? His voice and the eerie guitar sounds are spot on.

  • @rhinovb14 And, he is so handsome.

  • @rhinovb14

Ed's performances make most songs. He makes the white noise and harmonies that makes them sound so awesome. I'm glad people notice that :)

  • @rhinovb14 yeah!! Ed is THE MAN of that song!!!

    lml

  • Pure eargasm material..

  • holy shit is that a rickenbacker?

  • @royercrafter

Guitars in this video in order of appearance are:

    Epiphone Casino,

    Fender Telecaster,

    Gibson SG,

    Fender Stratocaster,

  • Fantastic !!!!!

  • Caramba!!! ¿Porque no tiene mas volumen? no es suficiente para mi, quisiera escucharlo mas y mas fuerte... esto la perfección, perfecta interpretación.

  • One of the few bands on Jools Holland, that every other artist performing just stops in awe of what they are doing. Nobody sounds like them, some have tried.... But nobody can sound like Radiohead!

  • At 2:05 Jools is thinking "Yeah, go guys!"

  • @williamhaviland What's the chick sitting next to him thinking?

  • @ellisrose "Did I leave Gran in the freezer?"

  • @ellisrose That's Cat Power, my friend. She is unbelievably beautiful.

  • @repdale She is cool.

  • @ellisrose "Did I leave grandma in the freezer again?"

  • Thom Yorke has so much groove man with that headbobble of his lol

  • Pure Genius!

  • sorry to sound like an idiot but what's an arpeggio? is it to do with the sequencing? btw this sound is utter genius one of radiohead's best songs IMO

  • @comeonthegooners Don't sweat it, if you don't play an instrument, you won't know. It's when you play the notes in a chord sequentially rather than all at once, as the main riff is. (You see now I don't know if I used riff right :P)

  • @comeonthegooners apreggio is a fast sequence of different notes. rather you playing the whole chord together, you play it note for note.

  • @comeonthegooners An Arpeggio or "Arpeggiation" is basically a broken chord, when the indiviudal nots that make up a chord are played on after the other. In the song title it refers to the arpeggiated chords that the guitars play :)

  • They write some good shit, this band - who are they?!? ;o)

  • One of the best songs of radiohead, and live they are awsome!!

  • @nirmalory I live see them live one day. I don't care what the tickets cost.

  • @ellisrose Well good for you, I don't know if I personally will live long enough to see them live in concert, but if you do, than think to those whom they couldn't be so lucky!! Good luck!!

  • HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! amazing.

  • What band followed them?

  • This song is like thousands of angels crying diamond tears into a lake of awesomeness.

  • @lordsalisbury1

gayest comment ever. the only bigger fags than you are the pussies who gave you a thumbs up. you have to be english. thank god we kicked your asses out of here 230 years ago.

  • @aquaskye what the fuck do yo have against English people? cut the bullshit alright? why in hell would you be here if you hate us you little piggy?? WHY would you like Radiohead? shut the fuck up already and go eat some "weenies"

  • @aquaskye Wow I really wish I wasn't American after reading shit like that. Your a fucking disgrace to the human race.

  • @aquaskye You are an insipid moron, and you appear to be proud of it. Read some history, you idiot. If you are illiterate as you appear to be, ask someone to read it to you.

  • @ellisrose I have to agree, this "aquaskye" person is quite repugnant.

And a saying comes to mind: "Pea rattles loud in empty head". Oh well,

we still have Radiohead to inject some cerebral and audio beauty into

this world. Will listen to "Codex" from The King of Limbs next, and "aquaskye's"

ugly words will instantly fade to oblivion.

  • @bezerker5051 just came from codex haha

  • @aquaskye Glad you iiked it! *waves, blows kiss*

  • i cant enjoy this song if i dont shake my head at the beat, in random patterns

  • good, but nowhere near J-Biebs. seriously.

  • Una delle migliori canzoni dei Radiohead....cori e finale pazzeschi!

  • what was the band right before this?

  • @RuleTheRadio23 I think it was Cat Power.

  • @ellisrose

    definitely cat power.

  • cómo a 21 personas no les gusta? .. realmente no entiendo ...

    es increíble esta presentación

  • cómo a 21 personas no les gusta? .. realmente no entiendo ...

  • amazing <3

  • this is heartbreaking

  • Thank you Radiohead for not trying to please radio music loving idiots!!! thank you thank you thank you.

  • when people dislike this song they dislike that it ends not the actual song itself.

  • 2:01 That face says everything.... This song is a big piece of art.

  • 21 people need to embrace their inner fish o.o

  • Soooooooo fast....

  • Its hard to appreciate any other music once you get hooked to Radiohead. I always make a conscious effort to not listen to Radiohead so that I discover other stuff and develop as a musician.

  • @wotthehll Story my life. It's just so damn good.
