  • Great work Lonny! I've watched lots of your videos and I think what you're doing is fantastic. Very inspiring. I hope to start some projects of my own this summer. Keep up the good work! I'll be watching! -Nick

  • You achieved some neat visual effects when those blades matched the fps (speed) of the video. ☼-€ :o)

  • A long coil spring with a pulley attached makes a simple, function, inexpensive belt tensioner. At least on other contraptions I've built. LOL

I'll be building a generator soon I think. I love the idea and have most of the materials.

  • The main problem is how to attach the hub of the bycicle wheel to the wood plank.

  • Look for a treadmill motor used on 220VDC. More volts per rev. Or rewind your existing one.

  • Hey what would you use to take the turbines power and charge batteries with it.

  • @88bobo111 I have a older video called "how I built my first horizontal axis turbine (hawt) part 2. Near the end of the video, I go into detail on how I hooked up one of my older wind turbines. I think that video might help answer that question. Thank you for the question, Lonny

  • OMG! A windmill video the includes information. It's not just 8secs of the mill turning in the wind. I can't take it. It's too much. Brain overload. No it's a great video. I wish more posters would do half as good. A GREAT VIDEO!

  • @johnnnyreb51 You may want to try surgical tubing rather the a fan belt. Liter and easier to turn.

  • Excellent work, very well done with so few materials. Congratulations. One question, what kind of engine did you use?

  • @edpa25 I used a dc motor out of a free treadmill that I got from craigs list. Thanks for the question, Lonny

  • Very good job on your bike wheel wind generator and it will charge a battery bank ,but were the wheel is attached to the frame will not hold very long alot of stress is put on that point. You've done a great job with and have fun with what u are doing

  • hay I know ya need wind to make it work .... but ya cant hear a word your saying

  • Hi, Lonny...

Do you think the performance is improved by the 6:1 ratio of blades to motor as opposed to 1:1 by attaching the blades directly to the motor?

    Thanks,

    Tim };-)

  • Great video but the audio is sooo low I can't hear what your saying!

  • Very nice. Good job.

  • nice ......experimenting is fun. But one thing......I dont think I wanna live in your state. The laws are tough there. Haveing to wear a helmet just standing next to a bicycle rim wow. heheheheh

  • great job SG!!

  • galvanized PVC? hahaha!

  • good job. looks like you finally found something that will work. i can't wait to see the finished turbine.

  • Love it! Could do with some work safety wise tho!

  • A couple of criticisms coming at you biker boy. 1st, Zip Ties are never cool. 2nd, buy a wind mike. I really enjoyed placing my ear to the speaker fighting the wind sheer to hear you mumble to the front end of your truck through your helmet for 5 minutes. 3rd, Please shave!

  • @audioexcursion

You do have the option of not watching/listening.

  • I think the tail looks good.

  • cool ...i have a 90v dc servo motor im trying to figure out a project for...got any ideas?
