  • wrong tune, in our school its really joyfull and fast!

  • In my family thereis a cousin named Ivy.

  • Beautiful simply beautiful

  • Great version.

  • I'm not sure why they can't finish the second syllable of organ.

  • The accompaniment is beautiful.

  • amazing

  • I love this song. It's definately one of my favorites.

  • if ever eacher assigns us to sing a carol (or if our Sir Rowel [dunno the spelling of his name, sorry!] in choir assigns us to sing a soothing carol) i will definitly sing this!

  • For some reason this song tittle popped into my head so I pulled it up and picked this version to listen to. It was very moving and I now want the album by this group! It sounds just like your in the Thanks for posting this and making my day!!

  • I like the acouistic version that David Soul did With Bobby Sherman on Here Come the Brides back in 1968!! The lyrics were a bit different It's still my favorite version..

  • I love this song! It makes me think of going to church in the country on a cold winter morning and seeing the deer run in a herd out in the field.

  • Merry Christmas from the rez!

  • merry christmas, everyone! this is a wonderful song and i love to listen to it during christmastime!!!

  • nice but i don't get why it never really talks about ivy

  • This version is so pretty ♥

  • Fun pagan song facts: In pre-Christian tradition, rigid prickly holly represents masculinity, while soft twining ivy represents femininity. Together they promise rebirth in the Spring. The 'rising of the sun' refers to the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year after which the days begin to lengthen. The 'running of the deer' refers to the Stag Lord, the male consort of Moon Goddess. Winter is the time of the male element - the fertile female element peaks at Litha, the Summer Solstice.

  • @darkangelscruffy This is why this song is referred to so often as the pagan song in spite of the overlay of christian theme.........

  • Im a Muslim and so dont celebrate Christmas, but have to say that this is one of my all time favourite christmas carol, it brings back memories of when i when i was a young girl at school and singing christmas carols at assembly. it didnt matter that i wasnt a Christian, I loved Christmas time when I was a girl, its such a pity its too commercialised these days!

  • @shilpi67 Thank you for posting your thoughts. This time of year is not only about religion, but about peace and goodwil. It's the humanity and love for life, family and friends.

  • I like it - the voices are marvellous, and the backing imaginative - but what *is* that merry thing? The traditional words are "organ", and that's what's listed, but it's not what's sung, is it? Sounds like "merry-o".

(I admit it's hard to sing with that tune.)

  • @davidwilliampowell more like " merry or'n" - in older style singing, it is sometimes appropriate to drop a syllable to make the language fit the rhythm of the tune.

  • I've heard this tune all my life but never knew the lyrics are The Holly & The Ivy! Thanks for posting!

  • I get to sing this in my Christmas show!

  • Great video !

  • this is not as good as the one with vanessa williams

  • i just love this christmas song. and the baebes' version is lovely. can you please post more christmas songs by this group. i'd be so happy to hear more of them. thank you. merry christmas everyone!

  • While listening to one of the most beautiful tributes to the Son of God ever rendered....I thought to peruz the comments....I was not surprised to see that even discord can maneuver its tenticles throughout such things.....but it was a fairly peaceful encounter....interesting how spiritual salves do indeed have such soothing effects <3~!

  • I thought the lyric was "the playing of the merry harp, sweet singing in the choir." Not that this is bad; I've just never heard it this way before.

  • cool

  • All I can say is awesome. I have never heard the words before just he melody. Thanks

  • A lovely version of this traditional seasonal carol to celebtate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God ; belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all

  • I love it!! ^_^ Not that I'm Christian, but I grew up with this being played around the holidays. Thank you

  • Thank God you wrote "not that I'm a Christian". I wouldn't want to think you were a Christian. It would spoil my whole day.

  • except that it's unusual for non-christians to have christian songs played in their homes. Think first, then post

  • trippy - I don't think it helped you but God bless you anyway. Peace.

  • and Goddess keep you safe

  • Fantastic voices sounds incredible nice I think !!!

    Mange of Sweden

  • Best version I have ever heard. I love it. Thank you for posting!

  • This is so amazing!!

  • I also like this version: most others are too slow.

  • WHO is this???? I agree with suzzw...best rendition I've heard of one of my favorite Christmas songs. Lovely!

  • Such a good song, I wish more people knew of it! Thank you for posting! This is a great version!

  • I am trying to bring some of them back to life in my churches. I found it on iTunes and just instantly loved it. it is perfect for teaching it to a choir or kids and the instrumentation is very traditional. I just love it to this day lol.

  • This is a lovely version. It is the first version i have found where the voices aren't peircing, which just makes the carol painful to listen to!

  • This version is alot slower than the original version

  • Wow! That was the best rendition I have ever heard! Amazingly done and a beautiful harmonies. I love the picture in the background!

Nothing but good for these ladies!

  • I read once in a book that Christmas carols have "an extrodinary ability to soothe", and that is absaloutely true!

I love this song, it makes me look forward to this Christmas. God bless you.

  • Aw bless you for those kind words!

  • You're welcome. :)

  • Gorgeous rendition of my favorite Christmas carol. Thank you for posting.
