I think the Charmed thing being Fluffy Bunny I think it should be if you believe that is what Wicca is about and that's why you get into it. But not watching it. I mean I watch a few movies and shows about Wicca and Witchcraft but I'm not Wiccan because of those movies and shows. Also thank you this video actually cleared up what a Fluffy Bunny was. I kept getting vague definitions of what one was.
To me, the term 'fluffy bunny' is a clique-y term used by some wiccans who have kind of missed what wicca is about. I see in this attitude an echo of the 'we're right and you're wrong' christian ethos-which I personally have always hated about christianity. Charmed I don't like as a show, I was a Buffy fan. As for Silver, I like her books, although I don't like how she writes very much for teenagers, I'm not a teen. I loved The craft as a teen, it was fun.
I liked Silver RavenWolf in h.s, but don't read her stuff really anymore. However, I really like her Solitary Witch book.I don't know if I would recommend her books, but I know that many newbies like her and can relate to her.I do think it's important to read other authors tho.Fluffy bunny can be used in a variety of ways. I was told I was fluffy just because I don't belong to a coven. I think it's more of the people who are not serious about the path, but you can still have fun as a Wiccan.
@KikyoChanXD Oh I think Stephenie Meyer is amazing. She's the only person who can write and publish a book that will make me laugh so hard at the epic FAILURE that I will pick up a red pen and make the effort to edit their writing.
The term fluffy bunny is insulting in itself in any religion people need to educate themselves in any means available to them. I have read everything from ravenwolf to buckland to the farrars. By calling individuals by this term you are undermining the whole process of discovery and finding out what religion is the best choice for the individual.
an Orthopraxic, Oathbound, Initiatory, Mystery-based, Experiential, Coven-based, Fertility-focused, Dithesitic Witch-cult whose members are all Clergy within a Lineaged Tradition.
If you say this is not Wicca and refuse to accept its actual core structure and beliefs. Then your a Fluffy Bunny.
then why dont you educate these "fluffy bunny" as you call them and post some vids instead of lurking and tearing down people who are sharing their beliefs on the web
@lagrimas0scura I understand this and I acknowledge this, but what would you call those who are serious solitary practitioners based on the outer court materials that are out there?
i agree with willowblackraven i have tons of books on wicca and witchcraft and silver ravenwolfs are great. she has her own twist on wicca but really that what all wiccans seem to have. i read widely and pick and choose the stuff i like from different authors. ray buckland scott cunningham. a j drew theres tons of good authors out there. silvers alright in my opinion.
I like Silver RavenWolf, too. She was one of the first authors I read and I like her writing style. I felt like it was more personal than someone just saying... "first you do this, and then you do that" haha. i like all the little stories and stuff.
she's funny and entertaining, which is what i like. i agree. a good read. :)
My personal opinion on charmed is the show is only for entertainment , I cant stand it at all - how ever I simply adore silver. Shes straight forward , doesnt play around and I've learned quite alot from her. I have almost all of her books as well. Thanks for this video :)
I used to love Charmed, but after seeing it so many times, you can really see the Christian influence. Fighting demons & The Source of All Evil are not Wiccan concepts. I'm not saying it's bad, but we've yet to see anything close to accurate witchcraft in the media.
I'm all for viewing Witchcraft in a positive light, but altering it to the point of ignorance isn't right.
I got turned off by SWR. I think she's bad for beginner's. She appears to teach intoleance. That said, of course you can take something from every book. I have three of her books. But I've noticed in consistencies in her texts which I've had to cross reference.
Anyhow, the definition of a fluffy bunny, as I understand it, is a person who i willfully ignorant. In the face of fact (actual fact not assumed fact) they deny the truth and accept a lie because the lie is favoured over the truth.
A few characteristics of bunnies: believe it is possible to be a Wiccan and a Christian at the same time, believe Wicca really is 50,000 yrs old, believe the Goddess is over the God, would refuse to kill in defense against a murderer for fear of violating the Rede, think the God of Wicca is the same God Christians worship, believe the ancient Celts were matriarchal, believe the Bible's command to kill witches is a mistranslation, etc.
This comment itself is fluffy. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and of course, their own personal spiritual beliefs. This does not, however, give them the right to bastardize the Wiccan religion and claim it as their own when their practices so differently from that of actual Wiccan dogma. If you are participating in religion, then you should know a bit about religion itself. You cannot change the basic principles of a religion and still use that label. And this is common of Fluffies.
Um as far as I know, the term "fluffy bunny" has nothing to do with dogma. It has nothing to do with the principles of our belief, otherwise EVERYONE would be a "fluffy bunny".
Hm, I don't like SRW. She is not a good resource. She said many false thing.
Like "Witches do not work magick to harm others and we know that no real power lies in evil." Oh, so the curses, bindings and smiting? Ccc.
Or "...Witches get very, very upset with people who match the point-up pentacle with Satanism." -> Inverted it represents Spirit descending into matter. -.-'
And many other example. So many on my "list".
Btw, i loved the Charmed, who cares if I'm a fluffy bunny. :P
SRW has too much bad thing. :) She is nice and I like her literature style, but too much misinformation. I didn't saw that much misleading information in other books.
People that I call fluffy bunnies are people who practice magick, but are too scared to even call it, "magick". They call it "manifesting the Light". They don't call themselves Witches because they are afraid of the word. They usually call themselves plain "New Agers". They cling to their pretty stones and lovely smelling herbs, and some won't even call on any entity besides angels. They incorporate Jesus into everything because they are too scared to call upon the God/dess. I have met too many.
I love solitary witch and I agree with you compleatly. I seriously wouldn't have thought of Silver as fluffy bunny. it covers all the basics indepth and pre-cautions. the first book i ever read which was "Witchin'" by Fiona Horne I would class that as fluffy bunny as it doesn't go into the same depth on the cautions and rules and it's very much like try this and try that but not telling you about the precautions. Ravenwolf does her research and uses quotes from the likes of Buckland & Hutton.
15 years ago when I used the term "Fluffy Bunny" it was directed at those who follow the Rede. They only do magick for the greater good of all, never anything specific for fear of a karmic backlash. I now call it "spray and pray" magick... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When older, more experienced practitioners of magick called someone a fluffy bunny, they were suggesting they didn't have any real power and were no threat to anyone.
I know I didn't touch on that, but I wouldn't want to spread inacurate information. I haven't done much research on that particular subject myself. But once I do, I will probably make a video on it.
Yes, I know I didn't touch on that, but I haven't read much about the history. So I don't feel I should talk about that particular subject until I know more about it. I wouldn't want to say something that's completly wrong. That would be silly. But once I do more research on the subject, I'll make a video about it.
Great vid, I completely agree. =] People seem to think that if your a witch who watches Charmed or whatever that you must automatically be fluffy and that is where you get your ideas from. It is silly.
I haven't read Silver Ravenwolf's books yet but will get Solitary Witch simply for all the info. But I know a lot of the stuff - like history isn't very accurate. But there is good and bad parts in every book you get. =]
I agree. There are good parts in every book. Silver happens to know a lot of metaphysics. But it doesn't change the fact that she skews the meaning of Wicca to fit her needs. If $RW simply wrote books on metaphysics and did not stick a Wiccan label on them, then most people would not have such a problem with her works. Well, except for the fact that her writing style is very disorganized and sometimes confuses beginners rather than pointing them in the right direction.
Also I do agree that The Craft is a good movie. Also Bewitched the show is a good show as well.
