A desturbing trend in unemployment , collect for 99 weeks. After which a healthy percentage will apply for disability. Grounds primarily depression b/c not finding jobs . Another burden on tax payers. Proof again Obama policies don't work ! Or do they? Obama has a master plan to create the Matrix. Kill the spirit of of Americans Thin the herd of all who want to work, forced to live off Gov. Therefor creating a socialist Gov. We must rid ourselves of this mad man Obama!
I suggest you move OUT of Pomona. That city is dying if not dead already. Good luck finding a job in a town with only a couple companies still in business.
@arise212@brianpomona18 We have just started a non-profit organisation to help people get back into work. It is launching in January 2012 and part of our work is interviewing people who are currently unemployed, taking their views, and then making a free programme that will REALLY make a difference.
It would be great if you wanted to get involved, it would be amazing and you can check out our site through our channel.
Man, I can totally relate to what you are going through. I have years of customer service & administrative experience. In my most recent job I was an administrative assistant for 2 & a half years. I got laid off about 6 months ago and I have been unemployed ever since. I cant find any job at all. The economy sucks major dick. It doesnt seem to be getting any better.
i was fired from my job recently, but was fortunate enough to come across a LEGIT way to make a steady income online. About $80/hr doin basic steps via the computer… If you guys are interested and want to earn today, shoot me an email at Marcusznz1@gmail and ill get u started asap; and no this isn’t some stupid pyramid scheme.
ive been unemployed but someone has blessed me with lots of lawn care equipment. So thats what I will be doing now. Get ready for 3rd world country conditions.
i dunno why but i keep watching this video. i like it for some reason. and you seem like a good bloke with a sense of humour, im sure you will be ok good luck!
Why don't you try doing free-lance tech support if you know how to do computer repair? That's what I do now and I get more customers than I can handle.
@0m3n1337 (This is Brian from my new channel) I am doing some computer repairs around town, but I'm a bit limited, living in a 10'x5' space in the dining room with family (briefly showed in the video). I have to set customers' computers up on my bed, since there's barely any room to do or store anything. I can only handle a max of a couple at a time. My old car is kind of iffy, so I try not to drive it too much, or go too far. It just sucks. Check out my updated video on my new channel.
@Network126 I guess that makes sense. If you want to charge more and make enough to make a living I would recommend working on microsoft certification or other certifications like that. The Computer Science and IT is a section where they actually don't have enough people working. If you can get your skills up in Networking and Security it would also help you out a lot. My college just had a 100% employment rate from all the graduates in Computer Networking and Information Security.
alot of people are in the same boat, alot of people are stuck living with their folks cause they can't make it on their own, even some college students are living with their parents and are in debt, people need to start realizing how rough things are getting in this country.
@Ubuntufrog (This is Brian from my new channel) Yeah, the percentage of adults living with parents has jumped. "Some 5.9 million, or 14.2% of 25-to-34 year olds, lived with their parents in 2011, up from 4.7 million before the recession." It's just so maddening and depressing, especially when you're a 23 year old man, living in a dining room. I'm also single, and frustrated. Women want men with jobs and their own place. It makes me feel like less of a man sometimes. Updated vid on new channel.
@Network126 Oh I know that feeling, I have neither a car or licence (just a state ID) it does seem like women only care if the guy had a nice car or high paying job when that's not what its about, a real woman would stay with the man through thick and thin. it just seems like a person has to get around by biking/walking which I actually don't mind because maintaining a vehicle itself is expensive so I love that kind of freedom.
@Ubuntufrog I was like that too up until 22 (no car, license, and rode my bike everywhere). I hated it though. It wasn't fun having to ride 3 miles to work during the humid inland 100 degree summer. When I got to work, I'd be dripping sweat onto the computer screen as I was clocking in. The boss wouldn't let me be around customers until I cooled down haha. I'd go stand in the walk-in fridge for about 10 minutes. It also wasn't fun riding home in the pouring rain, either (can't see/brakes slip).

try east end liqour on holt!!!! Yeah sucks man i been out of work for 8 months already seems like the only ones who get hired are the illegals seriously and they cant even speak or write english how the hell they gonna fill out an app? Its just wrong i feel like calling i.c.e on all those bastards!
I have an interview for Best Buy today... let's see how it goes... (yes, it's been over a year, and I'm STILL looking for stable work - Yes, this is Brian, the guy in this video. Come check out my new channel!)
that sucks. you cant get work because you are white. This fuckign country does not offer any tax incentives to hire whites, and companies get tax breaks for hiring shit skin scum minorities. they get nothing for hiring you.
@MrAppleseed88 So because my uncle is black I should treat him like shit? Because my professor is Black I should just ignore everything he says? Do you honestly think that all black people are horrible and should be treated as such? What kind of logic is that? This is scientifically, logically, and morally wrong. You are part of the reason I am ashamed to live in this country.
A brian this is chef ricky please get in touch with me as soon as you can i might be able to help you out you can reach me at rb.chefricky@gmail.com please get in contact with a.s.a.p.
@MrHoppers002 Yep... just trying to hang in there, doing some computer repairs here and there, fixing them on my bed in the dining room, just to get by. Check out my updated video on my new channel.
Best advice I can give you is on your cv and asking people for work tell them you will work for free ONLY for 1 month to prove I can do the job and that makes me different than the others. A wealthly businessman who used to be homeless and couldnt find work used this tactic and now living a life of luxary as he ownes the company he works for.
Brian, I feel for you... I live a stone's throw from you. Have you thought about going back to school? My son (10 years older than you w/a wife and two little kids) was laid off from a skilled, good paying construction job in spring 2009. After a few months, he enrolled in a vocational program at Mt. Sac; he finished in December & was hired immediately.
Talk to a career counselor there. You may qualify for financial aid and/or be able to get a student loan. You've nothing to lose. Good luck!
I am unemployed too and I decided to go to grad school and learn a new profession that is marketable. I have been searching a long time and working odd jobs. I live with my parents and I am in my twenties.
Ive been unemployed since 2008. I think it is an important time to grow spirtually and focus on the positive things in life. It is too easy to become comsumed in all the negative things of this world. There is always going to be greedy and selfish people working to make the rest of us miserable. The best weapon we have is to ignore them and thrive in spite of them. There is another world possible if we open our minds to it.
lol.. Sorry.. don't miss you. I'm glad you got job though. I hope it works out! Sounds like it could be good since they're letting you do computer stuff too. Too bad you didn't find it before you had to move in with your dad.
Can't believe how many views and comments this video has! I still don't have a job either. And you know.. considering how willing you are to take any job.. I'm more surprised that you can't find a job, then me. Because I won't take any job.. and even though I have a degree, I don't have the experience I need to compete in this economy.
I have a feeling you're applying to places that aren't hiring though, and I don't think that counts. lol.
@lilhotcheeto Oh and.. TECHINICALLY.. I'm living in my mom's dining room too! lol. I have a wall though. =) My mom says she misses you btw, and I still have nothing against you at all.. you're a great guy.. just don't think I can tolerate you. But good luck.
@lilhotcheeto Well... look who's poking around my videos, lol. Miss me? Anyway, my friend in Ontario just found me a job. I didn't want to get my hopes up too quickly, but I seem to be a good fit. I'm working at a metal fabrication company in Chino. I've only been there a few days, and I'm already doing computer stuff on the side for them. They told me that I'm a great asset, and with my visual and problem solving skills, I'll soon be designing my own fabrication projects, and get a raise. :)
@brianpomona18 i hate you, i have a degree in design and cant find a job. Your designing things for fabrication? wow good job asshole take the design job from people who actually design. i have aaalot of debt from that "degree" FUCK YOU and fuck dumbass americans who wont hire me.
@lilhotcheeto ironically up until august 2007 the average time it took for someone to get a job was less than 18 days, then in 2007 with the market crashing it became harder and by june 2008 average time suddenly rose to 41 days, by 2009 the average time was 93 days, notice every year it more than doubled? by 2010 it skyrocketed to nearly 6 months, now they say average time is over a year, they say if it keeps doubling by 2015 an average time to get a job might be 10+ years.
@lilhotcheeto they say in north america the unemployment rate is higher than at any other point since 1934. some areas are less effected where some regions get lucky and unemployment is less than 1% while the harder hit regions are comparable to the great depression with 30-50% unemployment and many who are not lucky enough to have family or friends to go to are left homeless, i been to the shelters, not bad except some are assholes and pee everywhere, ruin your blankets and make life miserable.
Sorry bro, if you were in my neighborhood i'd smoke you out. These days, you have to know the right people more than ever before. I'm currently unemployed too. I call it early retirement.
@Kashberry420 Haha... yeah, that's true though. This friend of mine has been looking for a job for a while, and she just got hired through a friend. You really do have to know people. Unfortunately, since I moved to Long Beach, I have no friends out here yet. I guess I'll just say I'm retired early, too! Although, I think 22 is a little too soon to retire, lol!
@brianpomona18 Whats up brian this is chef ricky, nice video by the way. anyway please get in contact with me asap i might be able to help you out you can reach me at rb.chefricky@gmail.com. hope to hear from you
@Kashberry420 Yea this is how it seems to be working now.. if you don't know a manager somewhere, you wont find anything. I might have to move somewhere where someone can hook me up with something. I am not self employed incase I look it.
i just got denied a job I applied to and interviewed for. I was so sure that it was going to be the one..... Not gonna lie, it feels so bad I could jump off a cliff.
I'm young and have a masters degree from an Ivy league university. I couldn't find a job siince august 2008. I lost count of places i applied to. Several hundreds I'm sure. I gave up looking.
@yellowdotz Damn... that's just plain sad. I'm still unemployed as well. What area do you live in? Don't give up hope yet! I'm planning on doing another wave of mass job hunting. The holidays are almost upon us, and some places are going to be hiring seasonal help - Although, I'm sure all of those seasonal positions will be snatched up pretty quickly! Thanks for sharing your story!
@yellowdotz Im in the same boat. J.D and B.A in econ = unemployed since 2008. Education is no longer valued in this country. Mabey we can get on one of those reality shows...
@Texanomics10 Let's see a cardboard box or run to China. Maybe I should just hang myself. I'm just trying to figure out how long I need to make this rope to hang myself with.
I know it sucks dude, I lost my job a few weeks ago. I worked for a manufacturing company for 17 years and was making 24.00 dollars an hour. I was bummed at first but the best thing you can possible do is go back to school. Go down to the career center and apply for grants and financial aid, the people down a the career center will help you fill out all of the paper work. You may have computer skills, that's great, but so don't 5 million other people. that's why it's so hard to land a job.
@kritmil00 That'll just put you in deeper debt. And you can't escape that kind of debt by going chapter 11. Think long and hard before you throw your time and money into another debt trap.
I know this doesn't help you much, but believe me, you are not alone in being unemployed and desperate. I just got back from what was supposed to be a small-scale jobs fair, no interviews, just advertising a few low-level jobs and CV building workshops.
There must have been at least 3-4 thousand people turning up, trying to squeeze into 3 rooms meant to hold 15 people each! Honest to God, the desperation is tangible! It's like this in England and I imagine it's like that all over the world.
@tenofswords665 Geez! What a shocking visual reminder of the times we're in! It's pretty sad, how many people are that desperate for a job! What really bothers me, is people who listen to the mainstream media, and believe the recession is over, and accuse me of not trying hard enough, or being too picky. They don't understand that it's the economy, and that not even McDonald's is hiring!
@tenofswords665 Yah I went to a job fair in L.A. convention center and most of the people there were trying to get you to go to some unheard of vocation college to secure fed money and graduate you in 2 years with a degree that will be good to use as toilet paper. Oh the military was there too looking for the next sucker to put the uniform on and give a rifle to go kill Muslims.
Dude, stop bitchin get up off your ass take that car of yours and make money with it. Take the car and be a cab driver or use the car to pimp women and take %45 of their money. "Or just hang yourself lol
Another option is sell what you can, buy $1000 worth of lightweight backpacking gear and walk somewhere in the world... New Zealand, Europe, South America. It's far cheaper in many other places, and you may find when you return that you have a new perspective and people will be attracted to your boldness and street smarts. I and several of my friends who were in you position did this, each of us alone, and it worked out well. All the best.
@ImputedRighteousnes Sounds fun... but I just don't have that kind of money or budget to spend. I'm still losing money every month. I'm hanging on to every last penny, until I FINALLY find some stable work.
Millions and millions and millions of illegal aliens are pouring in every year. Hundreds of thousands a month. Everything will be given to them: free medical, housing, dental, medical and school.
I'm sorry but it has been decided that since they break the law and are illegal they are special and should have everything for free.
Too bad you and I aren't special like them, we were unfortunate enough to be born in the USA. If only we were born somewhere else and snuck in we'd have it made.
I was in you spot bro! it took me 4 years to find a somwhat decent job. My best advice is learn computer skils such as HTML and Ad serving technology such as DFA and Atlas. College esp lib arts school gives you nothing for the real world. It boils down to skills what you can offer the company for the best price.
Inland Empire is a mess. I know Pomona is L.A.County, but it's next to IE and there is nothing. I have a degree and years of experience, and I can't find steady work. Only what I can hammer out with contractual labor. No bennies, but it something. If I can give you one bit of advice, don't go back to college unless you can get a scholie/grant. Degrees mean very little anymore, they're no guarantee of a career. Easy to say but don't get down, millions are in the same predicament.
Welcome to the club! There are no jobs out there, employers aren't hiring. The only jobs out there are thru temporary employment agencies. What FUN! NOT!
I was in your place and had to go back to stay with my parents. I would check the internet ten times a day, go into any shop asking if they are hiring, and picking up a newspaper in the morning. I just found full time work with benefits in the newspaper. Just keep it up!! When you drop off a resume, call them a couple of days later or show up-you will find something!!
hey, brian. Have you ever thought about working in Canada? You are a native English speaker and also a white guy , so I am pretty sure you will get hired by top companies that pays cad$15+ per hour in Canada. You have an advantage over other races because you are a pure white guy.
@MrJackassjerry That's sad to hear. The economy is bad in lots of places around the world. From the looks of it, it's not going to get any better anytime soon. There are millions of people suffering and losing everything they worked hard for. I just managed to get into a computer repair place, but things are so slow, that I only work for 1 - 2 days a week, 8 hours or less. At least making a little bit of money is better than making nothing, but it's not nearly enough to improve my situation.
u people brought this shit on ur selves. u voted in this ripoff system since way back when. u thought u would go to school and get a degree and then get a job and work til ur 65 only to be crippled by ur own government without health insurance without unemployment funds witout a home and a car. u fell for the lies and bull crap. u bought the lies. they fucked u ALL real good. they have it all. u have nothing. u are the common middle class. ur job is to die off now while they live in luxery. LOL.
@masonic3rd I didn't bring shit on myself... lol. I'm not a registered voter. I really have no interest in voting, because we all end up getting screwed anyway. I'm in the lower middle class only because I'm with my dad. If I were on my own, I'd pretty much be in poverty.
Just be thankful you don't have any kids, if your a single man and you have family that will take you in consider yourself lucky, because things are going to get worst.
China and the BRICs are now the engine of the world economy. China imports a lot of food and grains from the US i.e. pork, soybeans, corn etc. If you can apply at companies that export these and other commodities to those countries, you have a higher chance of getting hired. A good entry level job would probably be in warehouse work and it certainly would help if you can drive a forklift but It may not be necessary. Good luck on your jobhunt.
@skyding8962 That's probably true, but at least I was able to find little jobs here and there in the past, and now I can't find anything during an entire year and a half. California is definitely getting worse and worse!
I wish you luck Brian. Hang in there. #1: Forget retail and food prep work. They dont pay and are serious dead ends if you can even find a job. Look outside your box around you. Look into learning a trade.. they are always hiring even to this day. and they can pay well. Maybe learn to drive truck? they have slowed down but I still see job openings. How about the military? I did it and I will never regret it.
@banshee8989 It wasn't even food prep work, I was just a busser/dishwasher, and I couldn't even manage to get another job doing that. I can survive off a minimum wage part-time job; I have before, and they're the only kind of jobs I've ever had anyway. I just need anything I can get right now, or I'll run out of money and not be able to pay for food, gas, or insurance. I'm not the military type. I'll never join under any circumstances. I'm more comfortable running away and hiding under a rock.
Dude! There is hope. Align yourself with things are going up. Do you know anyone that drinks coffee or tea at least occasionally. Even if they are homeless living beside the river? Commodities are in demand still and you should sell coffee. Message me to find out more YOU CAN DO IT!
I feel for you bro. I'm in Miami, nineteen. No jobs here either. I really do understand where you're coming from. I feel kind of worthless at the moment. Apathetic if you will. I really wanna work. It's funny, when I was in school it was, "fuck work!". Now it's "WORK!! I NEED YOUSSS!!!". The tables have turned it seems. Good luck man.
@Xx7Zeithious7xX Yeah man, it really sucks. I've been accused before of not trying hard enough, or being too picky. Some people don't seem to understand that there are simply no jobs out there. I printed out that list to show people. I have yet to do job hunting at my new place in Long Beach though. I barely finished moving yesterday. Hopefully I'll have better luck out here.
Please don't feel alone, my son is 28 and had to move back home AGAIN for like the fifth time now. He had his car repossed, and is about 40,000 in debt. Not only can he not find a job but he has no health insurance and is taking anti-depressant meds which cost money. I give you props for at least trying to get a job, to me that shows initiative and you should be proud of yourself for that. I went into the Army in 1977 for similar reasons, I wish you luck in finding a job, hang in there.
@Rhezekim That's pretty sad... it's affecting everybody. People like me and your son shouldn't be in these situations. It just isn't fair. People in their 20's should already be self-sufficient and making enough money for their own place and a car. The economy is just making this impossible. Things don't appear to be getting any better either. The ecomomy is already deep into a vicious downturn cycle.
Oh, also, don't tell anyone this but Dell is planning another mass layoff in Aug. A family friend is a higher up there in Austin, TX and is done come Aug. Somewhere between 4000-5000 are going to dell china forever.........Dell's long term goal is to employee 0 americans
@bradleymxz That's terrible... that's just going to put even more people aimlessly flapping around, desperately looking for work. It's going to soon be next to impossible to find a job, with so many out there unemployed.
Don't waste your time looking for a job. If you get a part-time job at burger king consider yourself lucky. I have been looking since 2008 with a BS degree in Bus. mgmt.....most managers I talk to say their businesses are 2-5 years from broke...these are good businesses too. If you really want a tip, sell anything of value (ps3, tv, antiques) on Ebay....buy silver, gold if you can raise enough funds, a nice shotgun and ammo...you are going to need it.
@bradleymxz Unfortunately, I have to keep looking. My dad wouldn't want to charge me rent, but he's struggling too. So, I have rent to pay, food, car insurance, gas, etc, all with ZERO income! Things suck so much right now. My most valuable possessions are my computer, and my 26 year-old Ford (which I need). I suppose I could buy a shotgun and some ammo, with the little money I have left. I've been hearing a lot about the shit that's soon coming.
Many Americans are going homeless Due to "lack of Jobs" and exhausted unemployment benefits. Job creation is gradually growing but not fast enough. If our economy don't pick up soon, The United States of America will begin to look like A third World country...I Hope I'm wrong
@Tier5now I'm afraid that you just may be right. The economy is already in a vicious downturn cycle. Millions like me, aren't contributing to businesses. So businesses let employees go, which adds to more people like me. It's a bad cycle.
@Rizky06 I'm really not the military type. I would be the first one to run to the border if there was ever a draft or something similar. I'll probably just claim to be gay first though, haha (which I'm not).
I think you still should move into your Dad's dining room. I would be as lean and mean as possible. Start selling anything you don't really need and use on E-bay. If you get a chance let me know your computer hardware/software experience.
@Rizky06 Well right now I have no choice. It's my only option that makes financial sense. I'm already in the process of moving there. As for my computer knowlege, I'm mostly self-taught. I can build a system out of scratch, and do OS reinstalls, set-up, etc. I'm also pretty good at diagnosing/repairing problems.
As the economy gets worse people are going to rely more on family to get by. just be lucky you have someone to lean on. I just got back from jogging here in new york and i saw a lot of homeless people in the park. Just a little tip, working out helps you not only stay in shape but also helps lower stress.if you work out it will fight depression and build confidence, that's what i call a win win situation. I was out of work for a while and trust me it helps.
@justin20anthony Yeah, I'm planning on getting out more and going down to the beach and getting some exercise (since I'll now be living a mile away from it). There's another upside too... lot's of girls in bikinis jogging and riding bikes down by the beach.
move! leave town! I know you can't afford to move, but you're gonna have to. It's not getting any better there anytime soon, even if you get a job in fast food, you have no future. So move to a small city of a few hundred thousand people. I suggest a college town in a nice area with a lot of rich retired people. Then enroll at the college while you're there! For instance, madison wisconsin, boulder/ft stockton colorado, raleigh NC. Identify mid sized cities with growth potential. Good luck.
@unabonger777 I really don't think I could move out of state. I've spent my entire life in one city, and thus, my whole support system and network of friends are based out here. Things should be better in Long beach though. Summer is coming, and I'm near a few different beaches. Surely all the beach-front businesses are anticipating a busy summer, and are looking to hire more people.
@brianpomona18 there's no future in it. you can jack around until you're 30 working temp jobs competing with illegal aliens, living in the dining room, or you can go somewhere, get an education, and make new friends and have a real life. the choice is yours.
@unabonger777 Well I don't plan on flipping burgers until I'm 30. I just need to get on my feet for now. I'm planning on going back to school soon. I couldn't before, because I didn't have a car, and my abusive and mentally ill mother was overly controlling and made me depressed. That's why I moved out. I'm just now starting to get my life together.

Ubuntufrog 5 months ago
@Ubuntufrog I was like that too up until 22 (no car, license, and rode my bike everywhere). I hated it though. It wasn't fun having to ride 3 miles to work during the humid inland 100 degree summer. When I got to work, I'd be dripping sweat onto the computer screen as I was clocking in. The boss wouldn't let me be around customers until I cooled down haha. I'd go stand in the walk-in fridge for about 10 minutes. It also wasn't fun riding home in the pouring rain, either (can't see/brakes slip).

Good luck!

@lilhotcheeto ironically up until august 2007 the average time it took for someone to get a job was less than 18 days, then in 2007 with the market crashing it became harder and by june 2008 average time suddenly rose to 41 days, by 2009 the average time was 93 days, notice every year it more than doubled? by 2010 it skyrocketed to nearly 6 months, now they say average time is over a year, they say if it keeps doubling by 2015 an average time to get a job might be 10+ years.
ultradumbass 3 months ago
@lilhotcheeto they say in north america the unemployment rate is higher than at any other point since 1934. some areas are less effected where some regions get lucky and unemployment is less than 1% while the harder hit regions are comparable to the great depression with 30-50% unemployment and many who are not lucky enough to have family or friends to go to are left homeless, i been to the shelters, not bad except some are assholes and pee everywhere, ruin your blankets and make life miserable.

I know it sucks dude, I lost my job a few weeks ago. I worked for a manufacturing company for 17 years and was making 24.00 dollars an hour. Go down to the career center and apply for grants and financial aid, the people down a the career center will help you fill out all of the paper work.

They don't understand that it's the economy, and that not even McDonald's is hiring!
brianpomona18 1 year ago
@tenofswords665 Yah I went to a job fair in L.A. convention center and most of the people there were trying to get you to go to some unheard of vocation college to secure fed money and graduate you in 2 years with a degree that will be good to use as toilet paper.

@MrJackassjerry That's sad to hear. The economy is bad in lots of places around the world. From the looks of it, it's not going to get any better anytime soon. I just managed to get into a computer repair place, but things are so slow, that I only work for 1 - 2 days a week, 8 hours or less.

I did it and I will never regret it.
banshee8989 1 year ago
@banshee8989 It wasn't even food prep work, I was just a busser/dishwasher, and I couldn't even manage to get another job doing that. I'm more comfortable running away and hiding under a rock.

@Rhezekim That's pretty sad... it's affecting everybody. People like me and your son shouldn't be in these situations. It just isn't fair. move! Good luck.
unabonger777 1 year ago
@unabonger777 I really don't think I could move out of state. I've spent my entire life in one city, and thus, my whole support system and network of friends are based out here.
