This isnt Deep Purple. It's just a bunch of faggots tip toeing across the stage and dressing like homos. (Not including Jon and Ian) Deep Purple sucks without Blackmore and Gillan. But they did fine with Joe Lynn Turner and are doing fine with Steve Morse.

@ediblehorse this was an awful night for Bolin, he was paralysed in his arm. He had many bad live shows, many fantastic live shows with Deep Purple. I suggest you give him one chance and listen to "live in miami" or the so called "extended versions" (there you can find a MUCH better bolin), unfortunately coverdale is not as good on those, but that's a whole different matter :)
@ediblehorse Agree. His vocal intrusions were grating most of the time and took the focus off Coverdale. Allowing BOTH to sing was an unnecessary act of democracy. Hughes is palatable on his recordings with Iommi though. Check them out. I'm still not a fan, but I'm tolerant.
@Ganjamancer I'd asked Gillan at a press conference in India, back in 2001, why they never played Comin' Home as a show opener. To my mind, it was a better choice than what they used then - WFT. His reply, "Because we're so much on the road, I'm rarely even comin home" or words to that effect.

Interessante, no ano anterior 1974, Califórnia Jam, Black Sabbath tocou uma música (Children of the Grave) antes do Deep Purple, ainda com o Blackmore.

I LOVE Deep Purple with Coverdale & Hughes. I love Whitesnake but not so much Glenn's solo stuff. Anyway I think that David & Glenn made up a wonderful team . Together they seemed to have performed wonderfully. They kind of completmented each other, I guess
now it's time for blackmore to do something new, i think the game's over for blackmore's night. 13 years it would have been enough, didn't it? let's rock again mr. blackmore!
Glenn suposed to be a nice dude. My current wife wuz pounded hard core by Mr. Hughes quite a few times in the late 70's. It be her claim to fame I guess. Anyway, she never let me forget it. ;-\

hughes on coverdale's level.. friend, think before you say something like that.. they're uncompareable .. coverdale has the most soulfull/bluesy voice ..so deep, natural and distinguished
I think that Hughes is as good as Coverdale. Coverdale has a deep blues voice while Hughes has high voices.Hughes is more a Gillan with a more feminin voice. All are great!!!!!!!!!
Coverdale-Hughes age had good and bad moments. But Deep Purple with Coverdale have many power, strengh, heavy than Whitesnake (hard pop for north-american FMs).
Refering to the Bolin, drugs destroyed him. Sad, cos' he cannot show your total creativity.
He's very able on bass guitar, no arguments there. But as a vocalist? He delivers such an Irritating high pitched whine (fingernails on blackboard) Why DC let him share the vocals is beyond me, it defies any rational explanation. DC did not need the sound of a girl backing singer which GH provided. GH's attempts at singing ruined Burn and Stormbringer too. Sorry to disagree, but there you have it.
@chikerialost Whitesnake (hard pop for north-american FMs) ??
Come on whitesnake was so much more than that .. yes very popular in america for a while.. but what about slide it in and come and get it and records like that?
i love this song! i love the album! but............i saw them in 75 in sydney australia and i rate it as one of the worst gigs ive seen ever! tommy didint know when to play solos, coverdale spent more time offstage on the oxygen, and glen ended up doing most of the vocals, very disapointing, i wasnt surprised when they broke up! i saw ritchie in rainbow a year later and was blown away, although he was in a bad mood becasue dio made fun of him and would not do an encore and a riot broke out!
purple were a great band who released so many great great lp s and "come taste the band " from this band in '75 is certainly one of them. many thks for this great postg.
I agree that Blackmore was the best for Purple, but Tommy was a great musician for sure.Think that he was very young and wrote this great song. They say that Hendrix gave him his ring as respect.RIP Tommy..Great song
Blackers was IMHO the finest rock guitarist of his generation and an unique and impossible act to follow in Purple .Tommy was a brilliant and talented musician his solo material is great and i also enjoyed the album he made with DP but unfortunately he was also an out of control drug addict and along with his fellow druggie Glenn Hughes they totally ruined DP as a live act by being unfit to perform sad because both were really gifted
the biggest probelm they had was tommy and glenn's over the top drug use- not lack of talent- and i agree they were a crapshoot live- i saw them in 76 and they werent bad at all- i saw tommy live and he was awesome- but if you caught them on a bad night yuk-..and surely ian paice and john lord, couldn't deal with the bullshit-
Take easy, man!!! Bolin is not bad. He was a good player, mainly in studio. Alive your performance was awful cos` he become a "drooped", a "freak-man". Drugs slained him.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dude, look, deep purple was best band at their time ( '72 - '74), to me they are best band ever. I haven't got anything against them all, but I hate Tommy, he ruined all Ritchie Blackmore songs.
You have no reason to hate Bolin, he was a true genius, just like Blackmore. The main reason that led him not to play well with Deep Purple at some concerts was because he wanted to play the old songs in his own style, but the others wanted him to play Blackmore's solos note for note. This made him very upset, and made him use even more drugs. In fact it was Blackmore's fault.
Because he had such a bad influence over the band with his dictatorial style that the others were afraid of playing his songs differently. Even after he left, his ghost kept haunting the band. He was a genius, but he's a complete sucker.
this is ridiculous- blaming richie for tommies problem.....even steve morse does not do blackmore note for note-..so i see no validity in your comment-
This song is not on Made in Europe. That LP had ritchie Blackmore on guitar, too. It may have been released on the live concert from Tokyo that was put out in late 70's as posthumous tribute to Tommy Bolin.
You Keep On Moving has an awesome vocal work by David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes. This Deep Purple line-up isn't my favorite (I'm a big fan Of Ritchie Blackmore), but MKIV sure made great music.
@simonsblackmore Same here, Davids and Glens vocals always worked well together but sometimes sounded like they were over doing it. Both virtually unknown before Burn album, but band needed to improvise for lose of Gillian.
Certainly Coverdale and Hughes helped revitalised band with Burn one of my favourite albums, but i just came across Days may come and days may go , and their is some good shit there.
Orange juice song is the bluest song ive heard from the band,
Hmm, I disagree with you. Deep Purple MKIV is just different from the very usual foundation we were all used to. The problem with MKIV is that the legacy of Ritchie Blackmore haunted them so much that they wanted Tommy to play the old songs note for note, not letting him play them his way. Tommy got very upset about it, and sometimes he ruined the old songs on purpose. (Source: "Listen, Learn, Read On")
Probably my favourite song off "Com Taste...". MkIV were a valid & valuable addition to the Deep Purple legacy, just a pity they couldn't last longer because of Tommy (& Glen's) drug problem.
The album is great, Bolin solo albums are great (and this particular song is great live!) but the rest of the concert footage is a little disappointing. It seems to me that the band is more concerned with how cool they look on stage than with the actual performance. Btw, Bolin was a great player.
они уже распадались а я только школу закончил......и теперь не могу отпасть в мои 53.. DP- лучшие из лучших :-)))))))(((((((

tripblokhgertsa123 2 years ago 12
He's very able on bass guitar, no arguments there. But as a vocalist? He delivers such an Irritating high pitched whine (fingernails on blackboard) Why DC let him share the vocals is beyond me, it defies any rational explanation. DC did not need the sound of a girl backing singer which GH provided. GH's attempts at singing ruined Burn and Stormbringer too. Sorry to disagree, but there you have it.

i love this song! i love the album! but............i saw them in 75 in sydney australia and i rate it as one of the worst gigs ive seen ever! tommy didint know when to play solos, coverdale spent more time offstage on the oxygen, and glen ended up doing most of the vocals, very disapointing, i wasnt surprised when they broke up! i saw ritchie in rainbow a year later and was blown away, although he was in a bad mood becasue dio made fun of him and would not do an encore and a riot broke out!

Hugely under-rated Purple line-up. 'Come Taste The Band' is a fantastic piece of work...shame it was this line-up that marked the end of Purple...

purple were a great band who released so many great great lp s and "come taste the band " from this band in '75 is certainly one of them. many thks for this great postg.

I agree that Blackmore was the best for Purple, but Tommy was a great musician for sure.Think that he was very young and wrote this great song. They say that Hendrix gave him his ring as respect.RIP Tommy..Great song

Blackers was IMHO the finest rock guitarist of his generation and an unique and impossible act to follow in Purple .Tommy was a brilliant and talented musician his solo material is great and i also enjoyed the album he made with DP but unfortunately he was also an out of control drug addict and along with his fellow druggie Glenn Hughes they totally ruined DP as a live act by being unfit to perform sad because both were really gifted
lightintheblack 2 years ago 4
the biggest probelm they had was tommy and glenn's over the top drug use- not lack of talent- and i agree they were a crapshoot live- i saw them in 76 and they werent bad at all- i saw tommy live and he was awesome- but if you caught them on a bad night yuk-..and surely ian paice and john lord, couldn't deal with the bullshit-

Burn in hell Tommy Bolin, the worst guitar player I have ever heard !
andrija015 2 years ago
Take easy, man!!! Bolin is not bad. He was a good player, mainly in studio. Alive your performance was awful cos` he become a "drooped", a "freak-man". Drugs slained him.
chikerialost 2 years ago
He was a terrible Heroin addict right up until his death. Give his solo albums a listen, he's pretty good.

dude, look, deep purple was best band at their time ( '72 - '74), to me they are best band ever. I haven't got anything against them all, but I hate Tommy, he ruined all Ritchie Blackmore songs.
andrija015 2 years ago
Ok, I respect your opinion, I agree that Bolin is weak alive, but your legacy is good, mainly in your solo albums.
Blackmore ever was the best guitar for Deep Purple. He is almost divine, genial!!!
chikerialost 2 years ago 2
Thank you very much !
andrija015 2 years ago
You have no reason to hate Bolin, he was a true genius, just like Blackmore. The main reason that led him not to play well with Deep Purple at some concerts was because he wanted to play the old songs in his own style, but the others wanted him to play Blackmore's solos note for note. This made him very upset, and made him use even more drugs. In fact it was Blackmore's fault.
bessadale 2 years ago
How could it be Blackmore's fault ?
andrija015 2 years ago 3
Because he had such a bad influence over the band with his dictatorial style that the others were afraid of playing his songs differently. Even after he left, his ghost kept haunting the band. He was a genius, but he's a complete sucker.
bessadale 2 years ago 3
this is ridiculous- blaming richie for tommies problem.....even steve morse does not do blackmore note for note-..so i see no validity in your comment-

This Deep Purple line-up isn't my favorite (I'm a big fan Of Ritchie Blackmore), but MKIV sure made great music.
simonsblackmore 2 years ago 18
@simonsblackmore Same here, Davids and Glens vocals always worked well together but sometimes sounded like they were over doing it. Both virtually unknown before Burn album, but band needed to improvise for lose of Gillian.
Certainly Coverdale and Hughes helped revitalised band with Burn one of my favourite albums, but i just came across Days may come and days may go , and their is some good shit there.
Orange juice song is the bluest song ive heard from the band,

a real archaic curio-piece from the archives; badly dated, but a valid document of ROCK'S primitive, now-hopelessly-outdated, distant past.

Actually MK IV wasn´t Deep Purple anymore. Something differnt, but not DP.
ratbatblue555 2 years ago
Héhé, but nowadays they are back and stronger than ever!
lekezenman 2 years ago
Hmm, I disagree with you. Deep Purple MKIV is just different from the very usual foundation we were all used to. The problem with MKIV is that the legacy of Ritchie Blackmore haunted them so much that they wanted Tommy to play the old songs note for note, not letting him play them his way. Tommy got very upset about it, and sometimes he ruined the old songs on purpose. (Source: "Listen, Learn, Read On")

true, but on the album the bass is high in the mix too, not much difference

Probably my favourite song off "Com Taste...". MkIV were a valid & valuable addition to the Deep Purple legacy, just a pity they couldn't last longer because of Tommy (& Glen's) drug problem.

The album is great, Bolin solo albums are great (and this particular song is great live!) but the rest of the concert footage is a little disappointing. It seems to me that the band is more concerned with how cool they look on stage than with the actual performance. Btw, Bolin was a great player.
