  • @kirktaylor2010 the passiv espeakers are opposite to actives and the actives have built in amps and heat syns and its own controls, the passive needs to be connected to seperate bought amplifier and hooked up with a 8 to quarter inch cable or maybe an xlr

  • Can I use them for an iPod? Or is there an adapter I can buy to make them for iPod? Feedback appreciated...

  • @AppleMan0013

You have to buy a receiver or something like that. They are just regular speakers that would connect to a receiver or some type of radio. Being that ipods are new , all I know is you would have to get a receiver and hdmi connects, and the receiver would haveto have ipod addition. I dont knowmuch about ipods but I know they only have certain connections that they connect to . You have to buy the equipment needed to hook up large speakers to your ipod.

  • @kirktaylor2010 & AppleMan0013: Any speaker which does not have a inbuilt amplifier (i.e passive speakers) need an additional amplification unit. iPod or a stereo players and certainly can be attached to any speaker, but since they do not have amplification unit for external speakers, you need an amplifier. An amplifier can be there in a receiver as well as there are stand alone amplifiers available in the market.

  • i am using these on my sony strdh520 hope is works well!

  • just bought a pair

  • What kind of speaker and wire would i need to hook this up for a nice sound? and wattage also. Where could i buy one?

  • @NCorrigan2014

For less than 80 ft you want to use 16 gauge wire-- For 80 - 200 feet you want to use 14 gauge wire. The speakers can be found on amazon.com Buy the 6000's since the price has come down for all of these 5000, 6000, and 7000

You could buy 7000 but I think 6000's is best. For the performance and price

I brought 5000 in the beginning, 2-3 years ago but the prices have come down

  • @kirktaylor2010 thank you, do the 6000 have a tweeter or just subs? would i need to buy anything extra or would that be a nice sound system for video games/movies/music

  • @NCorrigan2014

The 6000 have 2 5 inch woofers and a mid range , and a tweeter. Search sony 6000 on youtube. Or go to amazon and check em out. I prefer to have a receiver ad have it all hooked up with HDMI with everything in your system. Tv, receiver, cable box, blu ray, ps3, blah blah blah. If you have just speakers hooked up and no receiver then you wont get the full performance of the speakers. Its a lot of info and choices you have to make. But as far as floor speakers these are good eno

  • @kirktaylor2010 alright thanks again, but the last thing im really stumped on if i got a reciever box would be how to get the sound from my xbox to the speakers? the digital audio out? same with my tv and music from my ipod. Thank you!

  • @NCorrigan2014

Ideally you want all your electronics to have a HDMI connection. Then you can just hook it all up to your receiver. Tv, games, pc, all your electronics hook up to your receiver. The receiver has speaker wires connections on the back and just hook up all your speakers to the receiver. Now if you dont have HDMI connects then yes you would use that digital audio out cord. Thats next in line down from hdmi, then the red, white and yellow component cables is the poorest way and old fa

  • @kirktaylor2010 alright, i just ordered these bad boys and cant wait for them to get here!

  • @NCorrigan2014 dnt listen to this man. he knows nothing about audio quality since he has these speakers ( which are average quality or just under). go get some silver plater 100% pure copper wire, alot of them require banana plug termination so if u dnt have that find something just as good but with a normal end. check out superfi they have alot of high quality audio cable. 16 gauge wire is just a normal cable for normal speaker use.

  • Was this easy to set up? Also can you hook this system up to a computer???

  • @yesindeed155

YUP very easy to hook up. Just a onkyo receiver and all speakers going to receiver. A 7.1 set up. Here is a link to the video where the computer is hooked up to bigscreen and receiver.

caint post link.----- The receiver is hooked up all with hdmi's on all hookups. So when i want to view my computer on big screen , I just switch from cable box to PC on receiver and there is my windows or anything i open up on the tv screen. If you go to my upload of april 23rd you can see it

  • The difference of the sound will be great between the model ssf3000 and these??

  • Will these just plug into my JVC? the current speakers have the red/black wires, thanks.

  • @nothingupthere

Sony speakers have a spring clip connector type of connection. If you are not sure what that is just google image search spring clip connector. If on the back of your jvc receiver it also has spring clip connectors then sure it will fit.

The type where you push down the tab and insert the naked wire.

  • @kirktaylor2010 Thanks a lot, helped me loads ;D

  • My ass they go up to 50khz even if they do wicth i really dough they dont who would hear it...

  • hi I was going to buy these but didn't know if i had to buy an amplifire or a reciver something like that can't I just plug them straight into my t.v

  • @mrtabblegrabber

Well the bass is awesome on these speakers. I have never ran them withouth a onkyo receiver. But with the receiver they rock. I know if you dont have a sub woofer these got your back but I dont know about hooking them to a tv straight. I caint even think of a tv that will let you do that. But its a reg speaker wire ending so if there is a speaker connection , it should work. BUT Its not a red component connection at end of these. Its the actual speaker wire with neg andpos

  • @kirktaylor2010

Hope i answered that for you. I get very annoyed when i go through the trouble of asking a question and then people dont answer correctly .

so re ask if you have more questions. Amazon dropped the price on these for the holidays. They will go back up a lot when dec is over to about 150 per set so buy them cheap now.

  • @kirktaylor2010 true music never goes with subwoofer. Subwoofer is mainly designed for movie. It never produces low frequency in the way to make nice music out of it. Be happy with your big speakers.

  • @kirktaylor2010 Ya Onkyo is amazing i have 2 12" infinity subs on a 3k watt amp and a a Onkyo TX8050 Reciever along with the Sony SSF 6000 and my door gets blown apart and with the windows the screen falls out some how -.-

  • @XxlllTylerlllxX

Whoa , 2 -12'' subs , Im surprised it doesnt break your windows. I have a infinity 8 inch sub and here I am I thought it rocked. Been wanting to upgrade the sub. You have given me ideas. I see your sub will hook up to internet . You have to do that if you havnt yet. Its pretty cool. Onkyo is a a very good brand. I Have 4 sony 5000 and 2 sony 6000 and Just may get a onkyo sub or bigger infinity sub. I dont have a lot of faith in Sony subs I have seen.

  • @XxlllTylerlllxX

not sub hook up to internet , i mean, receiver will hook up to internet.

  • @mrtabblegrabber, You always need a receiver when your dealing with non-powered speakers. Pay attention to the power rating of the speakers and receiver if you choose to get them. Pay no attention to the max power rating, always look at the RMS power rating, that is true power ration. The max power rating is a bullshit tactic that companies use to make their product sound better. If you go over RMS rating you have a chance of blowing the speakers. Like I said even with the receiver look at RMS.

  • hi I was going to buy these but didn't know if i had to buy something else like an amplifire something like that, but I don't really know what else to buy with it can you tell me please cuz i ent got a clue thanks.

  • nice shit .

  • @Elopierek

    yeah these shits bang

    WHERE YOUR SHIT???

  • IKR-- I really need to get on that too. Before I lived in a place where the neighbors was pussies and could barley turn them above 5 when hooked up to my ONKYO

-- But I rock them daily now-- so I need to do that

  • @kirktaylor2010 would these produce enough bass without a sub for a small bed room? Im thinking of getting the SSF 7000, i would many use them for music not movies

  • @bbccrriicchh

Oh yea, no problem. I would say a pair of 5000 would have enough bass for a 30 x 30 room , without a sub.

Since your gonna get the the 7000-- Hell Yea-- just be ready to rock .

But strongly suggest you get a Onkyo receiver and a sub if you gonna be watching any blu ray movies. Sub woofer and sony speakers will have your crib like its in a earth quake.

  • @kirktaylor2010 cool thanks

  • Put a vid of these rockin on something.

  • these good for mobile DJing? anyone know?

  • just picked up a pair at Fry's for 80 bucks for the pair. Pretty sweet.

  • @TheDibbels

aw man you lucky , my 1st oaier was 109 at amazon and 2nd pair was 145 at amazon.

Frys is a sweet store -- be nice to have a 20k gift card up in that camp

Goodman-- I know you rockin now

  • @TheDibbels FOR REAL? $80? DAMN SON!! LOL

  • @TheDangroessel

Yeah man they are good speakers -- dont know what that other guy was talking about

  • Yep, nice ... Sony is entry-level and is very good for home ... i have 2x100W Sony SS-E Floor Standing System almoust 7 years and are awesome and for ther's price they are totally worth it !

  • these speakers are horrible. i had them , upgraded to difinitive technology . if you like music and have a good 7.1 system worth the money to spend more then 160 $ for a pair

  • @oooanthonyooo

What a fuckin idiot! lol Really? Difinitive technology? Now heres a guy that doesnt know shit about shit....Hysterical!

  • Why dont you google DF speakers and so some research before you speak

  • I never listened to classic rock and dont know which channel it on on the dial. I probably would nt know it if i heard it.

But theres hope-- They sound good to all types of music. It has a good range of what the hz it can can handle. Each speaker has a woofer that sounds like my 10 inch subwoofer on the floor. The woofer is awesome on each speaker and the midrange is good and the tweeter is good.

Now they are 126 for a pair. free shipping on amazon. I think the price will go back down to 108

  • Kirk,

How does classic rock songs sound on those? Just curious...thanks.

  • I'm sorry but sony speakers may be good for most people but not me man. They sound like shit compared to what I have and compared to many other speakers like Paradigm, Energy, B&W, etc.... but if it makes you happy, then so be it!

  • @goleafbudsgo Yeah but your also talking about a huuuge price difference between those brands and the Sony's. So of course they're gonna sound better. You cant compare Kia's with Ferrari's man.

  • @ poolshark 201-- Hey Man that was supposed to be a thumbs up on your comment but I clicked the wrong thumb so thats just a mistake. there bro.

    Take it easy Yo

  • yeah defanatly they kick ass

  • in my opinion sonys are better than bose i got a pair of bose floor standing and i have a [air of these and i prefer these hands down

  • See, I have always wanted to by bose but never could no where near afford it. But all bose speaker say bose isnt all that. Sure they are better than a pioneer speaker but very close when comparing say a , yamaha speaker to bose .

This set of sonf ssf 5000 is ridiculously awesome. They also have sony 6000 and a sony 7000 also. I know how my 5000 performs so I know the bigger speakers in this brand is just even more better.

  • @poolshark201 get polk audio, i got pair of Polk r50 floor standing speakers and LOVe it,, the sound is just amazing

  • Yep and for the price you caint beat these.

2 floor speakers that over perform for a total of 115 dollars, delivered to your front door!!!

Caint beat that all day-- Go get you some for your Christmas present to yourself.

  • i think sony are good speakers

  • Comment removed

  • i have similar speakers from like the 90's LOL they so good though

  • these are shithouse mate, get a quality brand like boss or infinity or energy, and yourll never use these again...but they will be good for the dump, some kid will grab them and have a laugh for short time.. good on ya though.. stay off the weed, you are getting slothlike chur chur

  • Yea the review kinda makes you wonder more about the speakers, but if you have any specific questions ask for sure.

These speakers rock. My Onkyo receiver goes up to 80 on volume and I barely turn it up past 30. (because its so loud) I use these as surround sound mostly and some music listening to.

  • EXCELLENT !!!
