Jennifer isn't the best, but she definitely isn't the worst. Not to many people can even do this. It's not like her voice was terrible, or she couldn't hit a note. The only problem is...it's NOT Selena. The song would have been sung differently, and better (of course), but I respect Jen for doing this. She isn't performing to PROVE anything. It's a tribute. A lovely one at that. No one...and I mean NO one will ever be able to replace Selena. Tears @3:46-3:53. It's SO painful when it gets there.

I saw the movie "Selena" & it was really good. Selena was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL & very talented singer & she will always & forever remain in our hearts. JLo does an amazing job on this song & she also did an awesome job in the movie too. This song I happen to like quite a bit but the one I like the most is "Dreaming Of You." Everytime I listen to "Dreaming Of You," I end up getting a little bit emotional but it's still a great song & very beautiful as well. RIP Selena!! <3
Congratulations to Jennifer and whoever was in charge of this arrangement for (1) getting me to cry like an infant for 6 minutes and (2) such a beautiful dedication to Selena. Jennifer is a true fan of Selena's, and in my opinion, paid her many respects in this performance. Selena was never able to perform this on stage herself, and am sure she would be proud to see it done so beautifully. I'm willing to give respect and honor to the memory of Selena but she is gone and we will never hear or see her perform again. I wish people would give more support and encouragement to the entertainers like Jennifer who are still here. Jen isn't perfect, she has never said she is. I admire Jen for her contributions to the Hispanic/Latin/Mexican heritage and wish her well.

Maybe Jennifer is a bigger heroine than people think she is by staying away from the Selena Vive tribute. Just a thought, I have no proof of this except my gut feeling about Jennifer based on how I've seen her conduct herself. I wish I'd been able to see Selena in concert, I bet it was a thrill to be in a stadium where she was on fire and singing and dancing.
(1)I was talking to another fan who proposed the idea that the reason Jennifer didn't attend the Selena Vive 2005 tribute was out of respect for Selena. If Jennifer had come she would have taken the spotlight away from Selena by being there. The tribute was not about the movie or who played Selena, it was about Selena and honoring her memory and honoring her as a great entertainer she was. This makes sense to me because I see Jennifer being that sensitive and caring as a person.
Actually a lot of people like Selena more than J Lo, so the attention wouldn't have been totally on her. If you watch the video from one of the reporters who interviewed fans after the tribute concert, most agreed J Lo should have been there, no question, because Selena made J Lo who she is and being in the movie really boosted her career. It really got her noticed.

I was able to find, at a good price, Selena's Last Concert where she sings the disco songs of her favorite singers. Also I was able to find the Selena In The Studio album. Can't wait to get them, especially the last concert, it will be good to see the whole performance not just bits and pieces on the youtube videos here.
I think it's funny how Selena fans say J is trying to be Selena when she is totally urban, hanging out w/rappers, having R&B, rap,& hiphop in her songs, Selena didn't date around the way Jennifer has, I think it's disgusting how Selena fans treat other artists. How can you date or have a boyfriend when you're on the move like that? I'm glad Selena and Chris found each other and had a few years of happiness together. (1)bsbncandey, I have something to add. Yes it's true Selena didn't date around like JLo did but where did she have the time? I like the scene in the movie where Selena and Chris are walking on the pier and Selena is talking about how she never had a normal childhood. And then the scene where she comments about how they could take their kids with them on Big Bertha, the bus and how she spent more time on the bus than anywhere else.
Oh I know all about Selena, I have all of the books on her, and I could write my own book about Selena if I wanted to. I see the same humility as well with J.Lo for Selena she's mentioned in numerous articles and interviews where she said her big break was Selena. And she said that she listens to her music and admires what Selena did in her life and that encouraged her to do what she's doing. J.Lo haters never know the real facts.
Sometimes someone comes into our lives and has a lasting impact that changes us forever, I think that happened for Jennifer with Selena. For a woman of 23 years Selena sure had a great impact on many of us including me. I follow and watch Jennifer very close now, I'm really interested to see what she does in the years to come and what she does with her career. And yes, the JLo haters don't know the facts and don't care to know, their loss.
Selena's energy and how she never took anything for granted and how much she did in her life just amazes me, I mean I'm 23 and she was 23 and our lives are so different, I'm still in college working trying to get down to Houston, and she was married going on three years, thousands of dollars, and having two boutiques. I saw the movie "Selena" & it was really good. Selena was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL & very talented singer & she will always & forever remain in our hearts. JLo does an amazing job on this song & she also did an awesome job in the movie too. This song I happen to like quite a bit but the one I like the most is "Dreaming Of You." Everytime I listen to "Dreaming Of You," I end up getting a little bit emotional but it's still a great song & very beautiful as well. RIP Selena!! <3

Congratulations to Jennifer and whoever was in charge of this arrangement for (1) getting me to cry like an infant for 6 minutes and (2) such a beautiful dedication to Selena. Jennifer is a true fan of Selena's, and in my opinion, paid her many respects in this performance. Selena was never able to perform this on stage herself, and am sure she would be proud to see it done so beautifully. From a huge long-time Selena fan, thanks to all involved and whoever posted the video!!

I'm willing to give respect and honor to the memory of Selena but she is gone and we will never hear or see her perform again. I wish people would give more support and encouragement to the entertainers like Jennifer who are still here. Jen isn't perfect, she has never said she is. I admire Jen for her contributions to the Hispanic/Latin/Mexican heritage and wish her well.

Harmony, on March 31, 1995 Selena was shot and killed by her fan club manager. You can search the internet and find info abut it. It is sad that Selena was killed, there are many videos on youtube about Selena, do a search and you'll find them.

Someone had to play Selena i feel Jennifer did her best and she is talented in many ways i think that Selena was a better singer both live and studio but Selena was also very humble,down to earth and never spoke badly of no one. Jennifer has always express very well of Selena with respect and there is nothing wrong with the fact that she made it big time i know that Selena would see it that way.

(2)She doesn't need to show up and have the spotlight on her when it should be and stay on Selena. Maybe Jennifer is a bigger heroine than people think she is by staying away from the Selena Vive tribute. Just a thought, I have no proof of this except my gut feeling about Jennifer based on how I've seen her conduct herself. I wish I'd been able to see Selena in concert, I bet it was a thrill to be in a stadium where she was on fire and singing and dancing.

(1)I was talking to another fan who proposed the idea that the reason Jennifer didn't attend the Selena Vive 2005 tribute was out of respect for Selena. If Jennifer had come she would have taken the spotlight away from Selena by being there. The tribute was not about the movie or who played Selena, it was about Selena and honoring her memory and honoring her as a great entertainer she was. This makes sense to me because I see Jennifer being that sensitive and caring as a person.

Actually a lot of people like Selena more than J Lo, so the attention wouldn't have been totally on her. If you watch the video from one of the reporters who interviewed fans after the tribute concert, most agreed J Lo should have been there, no question, because Selena made J Lo who she is and being in the movie really boosted her career. It really got her noticed.

I was able to find, at a good price, Selena's Last Concert where she sings the disco songs of her favorite singers. Also I was able to find the Selena In The Studio album. Can't wait to get them, especially the last concert, it will be good to see the whole performance not just bits and pieces on the youtube videos here.

I think it's funny how Selena fans say J is trying to be Selena when she is totally urban, hanging out w/rappers, having R&B, rap,& hiphop in her songs, Selena didn't date around the way Jennifer has, I think it's disgusting how Selena fans treat other artists. (3)JLo is still here and is able to have a family. I intend to support her in her efforts to carry on, not be Selena necessarily but I see a humility in JLo since the movie. I believe when she says she misses Selena she means it. Also I appreciate when JLo says a thank you to Selena at the end. I just hope I can get concert tickets and a back stage pass to meet her.

(2)The band e Los Dinos was formed when she was still very young, they started touring when she was a teenager right? She had to finish high school by correspondence. How can you date or have a boyfriend when you're on the move like that? I'm glad Selena and Chris found each other and had a few years of happiness together. I like the scene in the movie where Selena and Chris are walking on the pier and Selena is talking about how she never had a normal childhood. And then the scene where she comments about how they could take their kids with them on Big Bertha, the bus and how she spent more time on the bus than anywhere else.

Oh I know all about Selena, I have all of the books on her, and I could write my own book about Selena if I wanted to. I see the same humility as well with J.Lo for Selena she's mentioned in numerous articles and interviews where she said her big break was Selena. And she said that she listens to her music and admires what Selena did in her life and that encouraged her to do what she's doing. J.Lo haters never know the real facts.

Sometimes someone comes into our lives and has a lasting impact that changes us forever, I think that happened for Jennifer with Selena. For a woman of 23 years Selena sure had a great impact on many of us including me. I follow and watch Jennifer very close now, I'm really interested to see what she does in the years to come and what she does with her career. And yes, the JLo haters don't know the facts and don't care to know, their loss.

Selena's energy and how she never took anything for granted and how much she did in her life just amazes me, I mean I'm 23 and she was 23 and our lives are so different, I'm still in college working trying to get down to Houston, and she was married going on three years, thousands of dollars, and having two boutiques. I know Jennifer Pena is married with a child, and she's a year older than me, it motivates me, I do wish she were here, I would love to see her Jen do something.
