  • HOly Cow that is cool or annoying

  • Macbeth synthesisers are shit company, they are use arms manufacturers for some components.

Zot engineering and diatron. Not v nice really!!! Good to see a boycott. Although they are v expensive and have no patch memories. Arms companies for parts.........sad bastard he is. It's a musical instrument not a missile.

  • who needs porn ..

  • why were you hugging the macbaeth

  • Ohh and also what keyboard r u using?

  • @leadfarmer13 An M-Audio Midi Keyboard connected to a Kenton ProSolo2 Midi to CV converter.

Hugging to shake the Spring inside and make that clanging sound

  • I'm still learning all the new things about modular analog can you tell me what kind of chords r thos in the M5 and where can I get them?

  • @leadfarmer13 These chords are just 1/4" mono-plug cables. The M5 is a semi modular analogue synthesizer. That means all the different modules in the synthesizer like sound-generators, amplifiers, filters, envelopes...are hard wired in a logical order. So you can use the M5 like a traditional analog synthesizer without using the patch cables. BUt if you want to connect the modules in another kind of way you can use these little chords. Therefore the modules offer different useful in and outputs.

  • Perfect for knob heads! If you like playing with big fat Knobs these things have more than a gay porn site! Invest in the price of a car and within mere months you too can be emulating the horrible sound of bag pipes, a Scottish tramp glugging buckfast and the sigh and thud of a Glaswegian smack head shooting up and hitting the floor!

  • Shame no more of these are going to be made. And the ones that were made are sold out. Ken Macbeth is now making modular modules and M3X synths. There is no mention of M5/N on his own website.

  • Divorce machine indeed. My wife hates me amping up the softsynths with ohmicide, she would run for the hills if i had one of these ! Very nice though.

  • @cullyvan Looks like you married the wrong bee-yotch!

  • I have to have one NOW! how much?

  • MAN THAT'S JUICY!!!!!

  • can it do a flute or oboe?

  • @sugarpill001

No, but it can crush them!

  • Deamau5 would destroy faces with this.

  • I wish I had 3 hands so that I could give you triple thumbs down.

  • @Washburnbassist1

    afaik, he does ;)

  • @Washburnbassist1 he has one and so much more

  • has it got midi ?

  • @09fod duh!

  • I want one.. now... can we even get our hands on these anymore?

  • Speaking of a 2600, look at the one sitting next to this Macy's Parade behemoth.

  • Holy shit, that thing is fucking gigantic! Looks like an ARP 2600 clone imported from Brobdingnag. Sounds real purty, tho.

  • how the hell do u use this thing,...omg

  • how much did you pay? I want one damnit!!!!!!!!!!

  • The ultimate devorce machine!

  • £4000 GBP new i think

  • And his neighbors just have to love him jaapaap5.

    : P

  • Wow. Just.....WOW !

  • Massive, massive sound. Is that just the M5 going through its own spring reverb with NO external effects at all?!

  • super rooms mashins wow my pasion

  • no you cant

  • Comment removed

  • HAHAHA!! Funny guy

  • Comment removed

  • deadmau5 does have alot of macbeth and doepfer modular racks

  • Thats unreal man....

    UNREAL!

    Holy!

  • :O this thing is huge

  • Deadmau5 has a fuck-ton of MacBeth stuff, I'd be willing to bet.

  • That was amazing

  • x_x

  • Would a line out pick up the spring sound when punching the shit out of this?

  • did deadmau5 use this in So There I Was?

  • SICK< SICK< SICK!!!!!!!! This is something Isao Tomita would use to create his music. My jaw just dropped down to the floor, I have never seen such modular in my life. This synth must be more powerful than a Caterpillar bulldozer, I bet you could plow a 100 acre field with this beast, no problem. Well done mate, cheers!

    D.................:-)

  • Crank... but the sound is WOW...

  • Is this pretty rare? First I have heard of this one.

  • They're still in production, but not many have been made.

  • Well that's a seriously powerful synth! Cool how you can hit the side of the case to hear the spring reverb.

  • i want 1, actually wot's the best synthesizer u can get preferably cheap aswell : S

  • Hello , I've posted this video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com

  • there's a guy selling one of these on eBay right now. He wants $5k for it.

    #@!

  • They cost 4500 USD NEW...

  • This is the most beastly synthesizer I have ever laid my eyes on.

  • Very nice!!

  • that synth would pull your granny a heart attack!!!

your dogs would lay on their backs and disintegrate..

and if you touched anything after using it your hands would prob blow up...

ill gladly die tonight just for my turn !!!!!

  • DUDE!

How do you have such a massive collection of synths?

    Lot of saving?

  • That sounds massive. Absolutely massive.

  • that is quite the sound O.O

  • How much current does a big synth like that draw?

  • Not really more than a smaller analog synth. It's really a bunch of empty space in that box. The box acts like an acoustic space for that spring reverb.

  • @REwire As evidenced by you slapping the thing on the side—that would look interesting on stage.

  • @sudnaidu Shitloads to be certain.

  • Wow, even just watching this was an experience. I had never even heard of this synth until I happened upon it on another site, but that is some pretty wicked stuff . . . Thanks for the video.

  • WOW!! what a sound!!!

  • I finally ordered my M5N !!! Post some vid's of this great machine...

  • fucking intense!!

  • God damn I wish I 6k to burn on the new M5n, I think analoguehaven still has at least one available---unfortunately I think If I had that kinda dough Id buy all the Dave Smith Instruments: Polyevolver, Prophet 08, and the forthcomming Boom Chick

  • If one would have the money for it. I have noting against the M5, but i would never burn $4000 for it, cause i think that it is simply too much for a bunch of non-polyphonic Synth containing standard ICs/Transistors/whatever. Even a GX-1 is no guarantee for a good production if one can't handle it. To me, to be honest, sounds the M5 like a Pulse, but with the price of approx. 1/10.

  • there are rather extreme feature on the Macbeth: Im of the understaning there are things like a switch that allows for standard ADSR times, or a flick of the switch well mack the envelopes go into like ranges of "minutes" instead of seconds. by "the Pulse" Im assuming you mean WALDORF-- iI personally am the hugest Waldorf fan.. I basically have everything theyve made in some fashion or another... but saying the M5 is like the PULSE is like me saying the Microwave XT is like an Emu Audity 2000

  • Sorry, but if you stood in front of an M5 you wouldn't say that. I tried one out and it's one of the best analogue synths I've ever tried (and if you check my videos, you'll see I have used and own a few) and I'm working out what to sell to get one!

It is extremely well put together and designed.

Give 2 designers the same tools and standard ICs/Transistors/whatever, and one will produce something ok. The other will create something exceptional.

    The Macbeth M5 is exceptional

  • cool, thx

  • Ok wow.

Wait, there's a spring reverb there also??

    Replicate this with Reaktor! HA!

    Thanks for this. :)

  • Now spank it!

  • lol hitting teh sinth

  • holy shit intense

  • Damn that thing is a beast !

  • Electrical circuits can be modeled in software to some extent. But I doubt you can duplicate the complex interactions of a bunch of modules completely.

  • plus the hands on aspect. im sick of the analogue sound vs digital sound argument - all techniques/technology are useful, and just plain different...

  • Nice Equipment!

I prefer hardware because there is a direct interaction there that I seems to escape me in software.

  • pity the guy didnt play anything decent!

  • yea, hit that mighty beast. :)

  • turn off the fucking revrb

  • nice studio. 2600, vcs3, m5, and is that an eml 101 i see under the macbeth?

  • BEAUBOURG ^^ hehe

Sounds amazing!! I like it! That M5 is one hell of a heavy synth ^^

  • Moxy loves you! xoxoxo

  • ..hEy! I LikES tHAT VIDEo TOO!

  • people thinking that software ever will be capable of sounding that way are the funniest lot around :)

  • Give me one single valid reason software can't.

  • Software might someday, but not now. Believe me, I have the best examples of both.

  • Well, for one you can't really touch a softsynth like you can all other musical instruments. AND the sound quality of softsynths still has nowhere near the power of real analog, clearly. Softsynths have their place, but not as replacements for analog :-)

If you play one of the true analog monsters for a while you will understand.

  • Okay. I understand that there could be difficulties in emulating a particular synth just like that, and that some people won't accept that software synths are taking over, and blame the fact that the emulation isn't perfect on that - But apart from emulation, I really don't see how a software synth cannot do the same stuff as an analog synth can, if you accept that that nyquist sampling theorem is valid, which it is.

  • you cant touch software..

  • your mom cant touch software ...

    analog is awesome

  • hey jerk... I meant you cant physically TOUCH software which is why analog is better.. you should read the comments in context before commenting yourself.

  • my mom CAN touch software so there

  • Wow, that was crazy! I have to have an M5

  • The M5 is such a cool synth....

    Every home should have one

  • Yeah, that's the way to treat your baby. Smack your bitch up!

  • there is no doubt the M5 eats other synths for breakfast...and leave it to Dan to destroy every piece of gear around him with it! Holy hell, that gave me enough GAS to last a decade! Thank you Dan, and thank you Ken!!!!!!

  • sweet!

  • Fantastic, keep M5 videos coming, can you interface it with your sequncer, love to hear that.

  • oh yes.

    we need more !
