  • stupid white

  • Very tastefully done, gaikokujin! I enjoyed your film. Love the fact you had sushi in the end. Arigato.

  • the crabs aren't breaded, that's how they look...

  • I would love to think that but they were actually packaged and sitting in what they were covered in.

  • one more thing at the beigining of your audio... it sounds really creepy - like flys surrounding you. was that foreshadowing on what is to come?

  • OO I don't know. I'll have to go back and listen to it again. Thanks fpr watching!!!

  • thank you that was entertianing...

  • Stop saying its still alive!!You Caucasians eat meat too!!Don't be sad over seafood! You should stop eating meat then!!

  • Meat and Fish are two totally different foods. I say how I feel and at that moment I was sad, bu it doesn't mean I don't eat sushi or sashimi!

  • You did a good job now my screen has tarter sauce on it and im having a hard time seeing what im typing.

  • oh! wonderful!

  • Thanks for doing this. But it was a bit sad D: (-sigh-)

  • i am getting hungry

  • That was really disturbing.. I feel sorry for the fish. Interesting in its own way I guess. Thanks for sharing.

  • That was a snapping turtle—not a sea turtle. Tsukiji is the largest fish market on the planet; and, because it's properly cleaned everyday, it doesn't smell.

Western fish markets stink; I find them about as disgusting as a butcher's dumpster on a hot day. If you wanted to see the real Tsukiji at full speed, you should have gotten there before five a.m.

  • you dont get any fresher than that. it was like from the ocean; to the maket; and soon to be in someones mouth. well that is how the japanese like it, nice and raw and still alive.

  • From what I have read, fish are structurally incabable of feeling pain in the same way and in equal proportions as humans. They simply don't "have brains" for it. That's why I don't feel bad about eating fish occasionally.

  • Good lord, I can't believe how many of them were still alive. The breaded live crab was disturbing to me. :(

  • I know. It was like those pasted people in "alien." "kill meeeee. kill meeee."

  • Yeah it makes you rethink that trip to Red Lobster, but trust me you don't want to be eating those Little Mermaid cast members raw unless they've been recently killed. The effect of old sushi is a lot grosser than this footage.

  • agree! lol

  • Actually I had a beer and fish when I watched this video. It was complex of watching and eating at the same time.I had fun!!!

  • Next time save the turtle!

  • I'll do my best. Yesterday I saw the same turtle dried out and they were grinding them up and making tea out of it and it was supposedly good for your face and skin. Gross....I felt so bad!

  • Hey! And thanks for the follow up story!

  • Very disgusting and very nice video we are glad you went to the trouble of showing us.

  • Also, I've contacted PETA with your video, I just really don't think this can be legal.

  • Are you serious? You should understand their culture before comment something like this. They eat fish just as like European eat meat.

Don't you eat ANY animals at all? or you must be a vegetarian maybe, I don't care, but at least I don't think this video can be illegal. She just gives us some idea what is Tsukiji market like.

  • I think it's hilarious that you post this when your profile says you're "open minded."

  • Wow. That is extremely disgusting.

  • Thanks for getting up early and checking out the now-land-bound aquatic life. I know I was one of the whining throng who wanted you to go. That was positively beautfiul. And the skill of the workers (filleting and such) was impressive. Too bad you couldn't send the smells of the market stateside. :-) And hey...those squid did NOT appear to be smiling.) Thanks again for sharing your unique view,SHSN.

  • No problem I wanted to go for myself but seeing that other people were interested too was even more of a motivation. So thank you! When I was there I didn't notice any smells. To be honest it's all fresh and fresh fish doesn't really smell I think that's why I like sushi so much! Ok maybe a little smell but not as much as you would think. Everything was on ice, dry ice, and this jelly like substance to keep it all cold. Or like you saw things were still alive!!!!!!

  • Great video, thanks!! Sorry that you had to get up that early :P Wish I could visit but its not going to happen soon :( maybe one day. And about the sushi, there is nothing wrong with that, people just eat animals, just enjoy the experience and keep eating sushi:)

  • Wow! I am impressed Summer! Not only with the tour you gave to our eyes (as though we were right there) which you filled with comments full of knowledge, But your steady hand on your camera. This vid is a straight legitimate documentary. I'd love for your stuff to be put on a TV news show. Good luck with that!

  • Okay, that was vile. Great vid, tho. Makes me reconsider going vegan. Only thing I would have done was save the turtle. Maybe a crab too. When you make these about-town vids, you're the voice of your audience. Anticipate what they'd want to have happen, and make it so. Saving the turtle would have endeared you to the audience, and given you an up ending.

Plus, you would have helped that poor little bastard out. Always help the poor little bastards.
