Honestly, you shouldn't call this Chicago style deep dish pizza. It's an insult, because it's just not anything like what you make in this video. Go check out some other videos on the subject. Giordano's, Gino's, Lou Malnati's, My pie, to name a few ---that's Chicago style deep dish. When I lived in Chicago I had my monthly fix at those places. Just change the name of your video...it's misleading and disappointing, and if this is as good as you've eaten, you obviously haven't eaten in Chicago.
@maryfay53 via wikipedia: Chicago-style pizza is a deep-dish pizza style developed in Chicago. Chicago-style pizza has a buttery crust up to three inches tall at the edge, slightly higher than the ingredients, which include large amounts of cheese and chunky tomato sauce, acting as a large bowl. While in NYC most pizzerias serve thin-crust pizza, generally in a style characteristic to the city, the term Chicago-style pizza is used to describe this deep-dish style of pizza...
@TheChefisDrunk Have you really eaten at the places I mentioned that serve real Chicago deep dish pizza? Because your pizza looks nothing like the pizza I have eaten. Deep dish doesn't mean thick crust, it means the crust is like a dish - like a bowl - and the pizza is thick, but the crust, which is the bowl, is not. Just tell me you have eaten at Lou Malnati's or Gino's and you think your pizza is anything like those. I won't believe you, but really...have you? Wikipedia? Really
That doesn't look anything like Chicago deep dish pizza. It looks like crappy thick crust pizza. Real Chicago deep dish pizza crust is actually very thin. It comes up the side of the pan and gives the illusion of looking like there is a thick crust, but there isn't. This looks like you bought it at Domino's.
@maryfay53 touché. it's looks like and tastes as good as much of the deep dish I've ever had anywhere. but to each their own... and i certainly didn't buy it at domino's! thanks for commenting...
@Snowbackohone I was thinking this guy should try making a Chicago style deep dish pizza, since this video doesn't come up with anything that even resembles it, let alone would taste like it. It's thick crust pizza. It's not deep dish. I'm a Chicagoan. Anyone looking to make deep dish pizza Chicago style, look elsewhere. If you like pizza sauce and cheese on a loaf of bread, then try his recipe.
