Can anyone help? For some reason, the "album version" I have is a really pretty acoustic track. No horns. More like "Dimming of the Day" in its production. For the life of me, I can't figure out where I got it from. It sounds like an alternate studio cut. I think I must have hosed my mp3 tagging.

This is a great song, but the album cover for I want to see the bright lights tonight is the grubbiest most unpleasant album cover ever. Maybe that's the point, but still, its fairly horrible.
This is a great song. The horns nicely entwine with Linda's vocals and Richard's guitar. I'm pretty ignorant about classical music, but for me there's a Bach-like logic to the arrangement, a precise simplicity that also reminds me of a great Lennon-McCartney song.
I'm 24 and live in the far south suburbs of Chicago. I've always been a record buff and I've played this song for friends, girlfriends and family alike, both who enjoyed it. I had the honor to see Richard at Park West a couple years ago. Brilliant. This is the anthem of my life right now. God bless Richard and Linda!
@HunterSThompsonFan This is a great song. I am a lot older than you and come from NW England. Richard Thompson is fab and so are Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan and Hunter as well! I read Hells Angels by HST when I was about 16, 40 years ago. Keep digging the good stuff.
Thank you for your reply, jim! Yes, I try to dig the good stuff. I've always said that when it comes to music all you need to know is what you like and screw what anyone else might say. Kids and even adults around where I live tend to not know cool British artists like R&L but that doesn't get me down. I'm not missing out! My favorite Warren Zevon song is a tune called "Numb As A Statue". Check it out, it's friggin' great. Regards,
Hm, interesting. I actually vastly prefer the harder-rocking live version that RT and his band do in some TV show clip that's easy to find here on YouTube, probably even in the Related Videos list. Of course, I knew that one first.
Enlightened brought me here.
