  • Enlightened brought me here.

  • Love this song..the singing and the horns

  • Can anyone help? For some reason, the "album version" I have is a really pretty acoustic track. No horns. More like "Dimming of the Day" in its production. For the life of me, I can't figure out where I got it from. It sounds like an alternate studio cut. I think I must have hosed my mp3 tagging.

  • Richard and Linda Thompson - I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight is available here on store. simplyvinyl [dot] com /sv-exclusives [dot] html

  • so glad I found it...wanted to hear it again too

  • song was just used on the new HBO show "Enlightened". had to find it and listen again

  • @sparkplugtb Yep, I have this one, but I just came back because I'm a big fan of Enlightened, hahaha. :) Great song and great show.

  • Awesome...one of my favorites of all time

  • This is a great song, but the album cover for I want to see the bright lights tonight is the grubbiest most unpleasant album cover ever. Maybe that's the point, but still, its fairly horrible.

  • @lladsbid My personal opinion...very great album cover...

  • just back from dublin last weekend saw richard thompson at vicars street he was brill as always! now to check some reviews! see ya wobbly585

  • i owe everything i know about music to the great robert king.

  • british folk at it's finest...this album is dark but beautiful

  • The trumpets makes the difference... excelent song.

  • mariach music i and the (former) thompsons on vocals-what could be better?

  • This is a great song. The horns nicely entwine with Linda's vocals and Richard's guitar. I'm pretty ignorant about classical music, but for me there's a Bach-like logic to the arrangement, a precise simplicity that also reminds me of a great Lennon-McCartney song.

  • im bored nothing planned and im off the beer

  • love this song. Heard it from movie Gigantic

  • @Dreamflyer6 Absolutely brilliant film. An artistic home run.

  • TGIF English style ! Such a great song, long live Rock and Roll, Berry,Lennon and Joe Strummer !Go away rap,Britney and Madonna !

  • Agree, rap and Britney suck balls. Im not sure about M, she has good stuff, like 40 % of her career is really good

  • holy shit. i forgot about this album. its so great. theres another one that has to do with lights also. cant remember tho.

  • I just heard this last night in Gigantic and I love this song... downloading it from iTunes right now. :)

  • she watched her husband cutting into a fried egg on a plate that bore the marks of the waitress's two thumbs

  • fab song.

  • great song and great lp cover

  • Great album - great song.

  • just still pure musical bliss

  • I'm 24 and live in the far south suburbs of Chicago. I've always been a record buff and I've played this song for friends, girlfriends and family alike, both who enjoyed it. I had the honor to see Richard at Park West a couple years ago. Brilliant. This is the anthem of my life right now. God bless Richard and Linda!

  • @HunterSThompsonFan This is a great song. I am a lot older than you and come from NW England. Richard Thompson is fab and so are Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan and Hunter as well! I read Hells Angels by HST when I was about 16, 40 years ago. Keep digging the good stuff.

  • Thank you for your reply, jim! Yes, I try to dig the good stuff. I've always said that when it comes to music all you need to know is what you like and screw what anyone else might say. Kids and even adults around where I live tend to not know cool British artists like R&L but that doesn't get me down. I'm not missing out! My favorite Warren Zevon song is a tune called "Numb As A Statue". Check it out, it's friggin' great. Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hm, interesting. I actually vastly prefer the harder-rocking live version that RT and his band do in some TV show clip that's easy to find here on YouTube, probably even in the Related Videos list. Of course, I knew that one first.

  • @yohei72 You've got that right!

  • great
