can please somebody give me a torrent to this song (or the album with this song). i can't find it anywhere. thank you, i will be forever in your depth.
I had the pleasure of meeting Anita O'Day about 15 years ago. A truly great artist with a flair for squeezing more out of a lyric than any other singer, ever. Check out her version of "Ten Cents a Dance" to see what I mean.
:O holy holy holy!!! how come this voice has been lost to the mtv generation!!! wtf!!! :) amazing simply amazing, now i want to dress all cool and have a cig lol :D
Love that voice. they don't make singers like this no more. it's so so sad. ms o day is pure classic jazz when it was at it's best. Scatting is such a lost art form. Thanks for the post.
There we go again... It's so funny. You might have noticed, that I have over 1000 jazz-standards in YouTube (under "wolf175" recorded in karaoke-bars and under "wolf1750" with known artists). That's sheer madness, of course, but all those positive comments, especially from professional musicians, keep me going. I get only ONE kind of negative comments: From musical NOBODIES (like myself), when I "pollute" their idols (mainly Sarah, Carmen, and Anita). GO STRAIGHT TO THE ORIGINALS, YOU DUMMIES!
I am sorry, but it sounded as if another version of the song was running in the background sadly in another tempo. ;) And then I thought of Helge Schneider. Your German accent is too strong for a song like this. Seems to be better for Harmonists stuff. No offence but the brilliant original has been ruined.
I wish you had uploaded this song without the additional vocals. I've been searching for this version EVERYWHERE, and I found it here, but would much rather hear its original nature before listening to something manufactured to remind me of the true glory of Anita.
Not opera... though I could kind of see it being like Broadway does scat. He certainly loves it and it's in style of the time... think Fred Astaire or Max Raabe, just not to everyone's taste. If the guy loves it, rock on!!! Music is about expression and he certainly is doing his jam.
Strange, to me he sounds like an amateur, who has never had a singing-lesson in his life. But he must be musical, otherwise he couldn't scat like that ;-).

Scat, synonymous with crap(seriously, google it), ruined Louis Jordan's work of art.

this song works better when singing about women.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago 6
In case you meant: "when sung by women" I agree. I was just interested from a musical point of view (the scatting).
wolf1750 2 years ago 2
this song is about irrational creatures; so it doesn't make sense when a woman sings it.

this whole song is meant to "tease" women everywhere.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
@pillsburydoughboy47 I sing it about women.... but, then I am also a woman

why do you always sign with "wolf"? thats a bit gay
MaDMadZ101 2 years ago 4
My first name (German) is Wolfgang (like Mozart) and all my friends call me "Wolf".
By the way: Anything wrong with being gay ? ;-)
I think, you just want to "feel me out" ... ;-) WOLF

Endless confusion!
You don't seem to know, what this sign ;-) means: "Written with a smile ..."
The singer is myself (wolf175 and wolf1750), who posted altogether more than 1 000 songs in YouTube.

The best version of the song. She has the fantastics lines of improvisation and a great feeling! Vauuuuuuu!

This is the version that appears in "Shortbus." Consequently, it is my favorite version of the song. Even better than the Tom & Jerry one.
