Only people who don't understand the definition of scientific theory think that saying things like "evolution is just a theory" is a denigration of Evolution. we probably did evolve from some little lizard that crawled out of the oceans some 10 Brazillion years ago but there were probably a buttload of different little lizards who crawled out at different intervals causing that particular lizard to develop in a different way because the surroundings at that time were different. Most people don't understand this about evolution:
1. Evolution is NOT theory. It is FACT.
2. The "Theory of Evolution" is the theory that every living thing today evolved from past organisms.
Problem with #2 is that, without time travel, it cannot be outright proven to strict scientific criteria.
A SINGLE gap in the evolutionary tree prevents a scientific proof, however, the fewer the gaps, the more obvious it is that the theory is correct.
Absolutely NOTHING refutes the theory, however!!

In the lay world, "theory" means "hypothesis."
They don't realize that "scientific theory" essentially equates to "accepted fact."

we probably did evolve from some little lizard that crawled out of the oceans some 10 Brazillion years ago but there were probably a buttload of different little lizards who crawled out at different intervals causing that particular lizard to develop in a different way because the surroundings at that time were different. 1) it's not easy to talk about macroevolution to a theist because he 'thinks' macroevolution is something like a duck giving birth to a dog but that doesnt work that way, it's something that takes thousands or millions of years to occur and it doesn't occur in sudden changes in animals' morphology, like i'm sure you want it to be(macro and microevolution relate to the same processes operating at different scales but in the end it all comes down to the EVOLUTION process).

Yes, scientists completed the cosmic background radiation survey. The cross came to America with the pilgrims. The Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War was nicknamed the "Bible Congress". The battle cry was; "rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God". Thomas Jefferson called for 8 straight years of weekly, Christian Sunday church service within the House of Representatives. James Madison did another 8 years.
