@jasobres well it actually an incredibly racist song. Shortening bread was the cheapest bread available, it was basically just sugar and butter and lard. This song is supposed to be of a poor black woman who's children are dying of hunger and the only thing she has to feed them is shortening bread. Gotta love good ol fashion racism!!
